Dwarrows

Dwarrows

I first found out about Dwarrows by watching YouTube Lets Plays before it was even released. I bought it as soon as it came out (payed full price) and, so far, I am enjoying it just as much as I thought I would. If you play games like My Time in Portia or Ni no Kuni II, then I believe you will love Dwarrows. So what do I like about the game?

Likes

I really enjoy the slightly simplistic styling of the game. It isn’t hyper realistic, but more of a cartoony (is that a word?) feeling, that adds it’s own charm to the game play.

Oh my. Dwarrows is a little masterpiece.

Here are some notes on happiness:

  • Visual: The wood elves reminded me of Sesame Street characters – a bit of Bert and Ernie and Grover.

  • Audio: Enjoyable. :) I liked to run into a group of bluebirds just to hear them tweeting as they scattered. I liked the piped-in suspenseful mini-melodies when I was trying to solve a puzzle.

  • Travel: This game handled fast travel really well. Having three characters to port around could have been a hassle, but instead so many workarounds were provided: teleport scrolls in inventory (with options to transport one character or all three), teleport fountains at puzzles (to bring all three to help), and teleport stone rings (for one or three). Plus it was nice to have the three characters spread around the map sometimes – I often left Gloia in town to build, while the other two ran around to explore. Really well done.

Well… it’s something.

The game only has 5 “game modes” which consist of something non-sensical and boring, there isn’t really anything “relaxing” or satisfying about them. The music cannot be adjusted and is pretty loud. Honestly it just feels like a school project from 2005 done by two students that just served to be presented infront of a class and then forgotten. Definetly not worth the money, I got it from a steam gift

VR Balloon Flying over Tokyo and Hokkaido

VR Balloon Flying over Tokyo and Hokkaido

BE AWARE! This is not a game!

you can roam around as some kind of flying animal in different maps/scenery but all of them are very small.

I only keep this because of the “japanese style street” scenery.

Bamboo-Forest scenery woudl be nice, BUT there is a dfference in the water-refelction in left and right eye,

so no way to enjoy this.

It could be nice if the dev would invest more effort into beta-testing and bug fixing updates.

VR Eagles of Victorian England

VR Eagles of Victorian England

This is a VR tour game that focuses on leisure and relaxation. Players tour the UK from the perspective of a griffon. They mainly choose the following classic scenes, including the 18th century library, the 18th century conference room, the 18th century interior design, and the 18th century Victoria Street. 20th century sunset streets and 21st century concept houses, allowing gamers to experience the charming British style in depth, and enjoy the exotic scenery without leaving home. It is suitable for relaxing and adding fun after busy work and life.

Tap Tap Builder

Tap Tap Builder

This is the sort of game that I historically like, but this game I simply didn’t. Parts of the interface are unintuitive, like having to do each section of road fully independently and there being no option to place them all and tap them sequentially.

The graphics are a very particular style, which I personally quite like, but I can see why people might not.

In summary, I think that this game feels like a bad port of a mobile game. I don’t know whether or not it is, but it has that feel. In its current incarnation, it unfortunately isn’t something that I can recommend.

Monkey vs Dino

Fighting games are one of the oldest pillars of video games that have been published for many years in various forms and shapes. From violent and bloody Mortal Kombat to Tekken and Street Fighter. But the issue in all fighting games is they are very slow to progress. Yes, the main thing in fighting games is to choose two characters and fight with each other. But the content of all these games would soon be boring for players who did not follow the game professionally. Another area that most fighting games didn’t take seriously was the story or single section, which in most games was not so strong that it could be considered a strong point…

PLACEFRONT

PLACEFRONT

Just diving into this new release. I think it has a ton of promise if the props & features keep coming. It’s hard to find a creative game to simply build and interact with your town/city without having to play mayor. This is about bringing a town or city design to low poly life, then interacting with your idea from a car or plane level. I’m supporting this game because it has some great potentials for creatives to make scenes & even plot other creative endeavors in seconds, to see how it will or might look elsewhere.

Great game, play one of the pre-made areas first, and just drive and fly around. Lots of fun, well worth the price. It Even now has battle mode and you can place tanks on each side to fight eachother, and even drive them too.
