Bonfire Peaks

Bonfire Peaks

Received the key from Corey Martin, full disclosure, much obliged.

Bonfire Peaks is a great puzzle game in almost every aspect. There are over 200 puzzles in the game and you can tackle them in any order, so if you want, you can reach the end by solving only the puzzles that will give you enough boxes to reach the end. I finished all the levels and I can say that it is amazing that 85 % of puzzles didn’t feel like I was doing the same thing over and over, most of the puzzles have their own unique solution and the way you get to the solution so most of them feel unique in a way. I like how the overworld is structured, you have the main path with more or less easier puzzles but the real challenge for the puzzle veterans would be the optional levels that are off the beaten path. This is not an easy game and 4 or 5 times I was stuck on a puzzle for many hrs, now look I don’t give up on a puzzle easily but some of them are really hard.

Fabulous, hard, 3D and fair - Smullyan-like masterpiece

When asked why he doesn’t believe in astrology, the logician Raymond Smullyan responds that he’s a Gemini and Geminis never believe in astrology

This is the kind of mental conundrum that Corey Martin (Pipe-Push Paradise) , aided and abetted by Alan Hazelden (A Monster’s Expedition) will lead you down.

Some of the harder puzzles have the flavor of a pure logic riddle: what must be true for me to be able to place the box in this place? Well, if all other options are exhausted, that means I have to drop this box into the water. Really? throw away my precious boxes?

Oniria Crimes

Oniria Crimes

Oniria Crimes is a strange and interesting game from Ckolmos, a small studio from Madrid, Spain. If you aren’t too fussed about expecting a meaty main story, there is plenty of vibrant voxel art and deep lore to make this game worth playing.

This game is set in Oniria, city of dreams, a sort of shared-consciousness virtual reality world inhabited by people in their sleep. There is plenty of talk about “awake-world” in the game, but we never see it; the full game is spent exploring this dreamy urban environment. The lore of Oniria runs very deep, and a big part of the game is figuring out just what this world is, how it works, and what makes it tick.

A really good game with a very interesting background that makes you use your brain.

Totally recommended and if possible I recommend to play it with a partner, it’s a lot of fun to be both trying to solve the case and getting our own theories out !

Have you ever got to the point where you felt you would never get involved with an Early Access game again? (I know how you feel!) Well, {Undefined} has restored my faith in the Early Access process. The potential for the game is huge, and I would recommend looking at the road map to see what is ahead. Right now the tools ingame give so much freedom for creatively, so many options, that already somethings are possible that I haven’t seen in other builder/crafters. Being at an early stage people might say there isn’t much content. Fact is, you have the tools to make your own content while waiting for even more options to arrive. In the last 24 hours I have been both amazed and impressed as other players have shown just what they can do with their new found creative freedom.

Carrier Command 2 VR

Carrier Command 2 VR

I have only played a brief little bit, but so far I have been able to control my units, drive the carrier, and do the first island mission without any problems in VR, but I am using Valve Index Controllers so I do not know how it will work on other types.

My only concern is that the carrier’s main camera looks a little funky as it is like a big circular 2D screen inside a glass sphere that you are standing in and for a few moments I didn’t know what I was looking at or why the screen was in my way. Once I started moving the camera and zooming in it all made sense and I was able to use it no problem. It does look weird though and makes you wonder where you are and what happened the first time you use it.

Yes, now I can recommend this game since the latest update allows all functions to work with my Odyssey+, even though the devs don’t officially support WMR. (I’m hoping they will later, however.) I did have to use a community-made set of bindings, but everything works with the only exception being the air/sea radar, where I can’t seem to increase or decrease the scan range. Fortunately, the default value of 1250m still works just fine, so it’s not a game-breaking issue. I haven’t tried modifying the bindings, so it’s possible that I could still find out the fix for it. I spent about 2 hours capturing 3 islands and I had no trouble using all the same tactics that I would in pancake mode, although it took me the first 30 minutes just figuring out what all the controller buttons did. But once I did, I was bounding between screens and stations, giving orders to units, operating gimbal cameras, manipulating maps, and driving the carrier with ease. The only really hard part was doing it all standing up… I need to get a chair next time, as my feet were starting to hurt by the 3rd island captured.

This is an awesome little effects showcase that I would definitely recommend picking up. I was really impressed with the quality and variety of psychedelic mini experiences. I’d love to see a mode where you could walk around an infinite zone using the effect of your choice.

I do have one note though that needs to be fixed. I’m sometimes getting spun around in a circle at various speeds when trying to walk around. The worst spins come after colliding with a wall at the entrance of one of the effect rooms.

Rogues Adventure

Rogues Adventure

Rogues Adventure (Tiny Adventure?) is one of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam. This one has you jumping around maze-like 2D puzzle levels collecting coins etc. The usual.

They chose to use obsolete retro pixel “art” as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It’s unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. Resolution and controls are locked. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC.
