Internet Court

Internet Court

I have to admit I found Internet Court really funny. It does have a lot of silly moments that make you go what but I loved it from beginning to end. You can beat this within 2 hours but it is really fun to get through. I love the acting being silly but worth it to make a good comedy. The Judge always makes me laugh at every turn. I love the silly ending that connects all 4 cases and my favourite case was the first one. I may not be a fan of the music in the game but love the credits song at the end.

Great writing, including fun dialogue when you make bad decisions (intentionally or otherwise). Clear video and audio with acting by Gamecola staff emeritus.

The judge once said, “I’m going to let you try again, but first I’m going to give you a strike!” giving me my third strike and ejecting me from the courtroom. I might have gotten carried away exploring dialogue options.

Gentle Club

Gentle Club

Gentle Club is a fighting simulator inspired by Hollywood movies, distinguished by the choreographed stunts the players perform while fighting in dynamic and destructible environments.

Players will be able to interact with the environment (use a broken bottle to slice the opponent, break the window of an airplane and depressurize the cabin, throw any kind of objects on the opponent).

At the end of the fight, the players would have the opportunity to see the scene again in the form of an action scene.

Genius Kojumbo Does it AGAIN!

Another completely whacked out story line game from this developer, this time it’s a story about internet romance gone horribly wrong!

I will say that this game is well worth the price tag.. but NOT as a game for “you” to play yourself.

.. By far, the best value in this game is to GIFT it to someone you want to troll and tell them just to play it. Then watch them as they get hooked enough or curious enough as I was.. to play it all the way through to the end! Haha!

My Score.. To play it yourself.. 2 out of 10. My Score to troll as friend as a meme: 9.7 out of 10!

Morphine

Morphine

Morphine puts us in the shoes of an 18-year-old high school student who experiences a lot of bullying in his class. I think the idea of putting school bullying in the focus is commendable as not many video game use it for storytelling purposes. It should also be noted that it was mainly developed by Kerim Kumbasar - upon completion you can read his notes saying the game is based on his own experience.

Now, Morphine is, first and foremost, one of those first person exploration games. It is not an FPS in its true sense as shooting enemies is kept to a minimum. It is more about walking, interacting with objects and minimalistic puzzle solving. We relive the many times Peter was bullied by his classmate, Ted and these are often followed by dream-like sequences with a giant rabbit that is akin to the one in the film Donnie Darko. The main jumpscares are attributed to the appearance of this otherworldly creature.

Morphine is the first and only game made by Kerem Kumbasar - a name that we see in nearly every available space of this game - a Turkish indie developer. For a one man project and a first trial at unity to produce something presentable, I’d say that it is a semi-success. The game has some imaginative value and is brave enough to take the risk of undergoing a psychedelic horror display, but it has its unforgivable parts which led me into casting a downvote.

To arrange a non-spoiler summary, our character is a high school student with some background and popularity issues. He is the subject of constant bullying for his whole high school experience, because why not? He is insecure and intolerant, with an impending psychosis on the side. The game invites us to go through a psychedelic journey in his memories, eventually bringing us to the point where he decides to get violent. It should be noted that the name of our protagonist is a bit ambiguous, since the names of our protagonist and antagonist got mixed-up half-way through the game. For the most part, he is referred as Peter - the bully being Ted, yet nearing the end game, our silent nerd is called as Ted and the bully is called as Peter. It is quite frustrating. It might be declared that they were the same and the one person altogether, but that really doesn’t fit into the story, so… if anyone managed to get that part, inform me.

Balconing Simulator 2020

Balconing Simulator 2020

Overall it’s not terrible for what it is; a quick and silly little time-waster.

One thing I could point out is that you have very little control over the direction of your jump, which doesn’t really leave you with much influence on whether or not you land in the water.

This means that there isn’t much of a skill ceiling to this game, and you end up just jumping repeatedly until you get a good result.

It was entertaining enough for the time I spent with it, but I can’t imagine getting much more out of it.

An utterly ridiculous concept for a game, but a highly amusing one nonetheless!

Get drunk (or don’t, but then you don’t get multiplier points!), jump off a balcony and do your best to nail your very best landing in to the pool, assuming you even make it in the pool. If you want to do it with real style then aim to land in the rubber ring (I managed it in this video, eventually - https://youtu.be/gNOK_Q2LCiI )

Be prepared for some painful landings, some face plants and more. Trust me, after playing this game you’ll definitely NEVER consider doing this in real life. Hopefully you never were in the first place!

Horace

Horace

One of the best and most entertaining games I have played lately. Probably not for everyone, but huge recommendation for anyone who likes platforming, story-heavy games, tons of pop culture references (especially for people my age who grew up in the 80s), and who got nothing against lots of silliness in-between, but also cherishes quick switchovers into emotional and serious undertones.

Horace as a game actually is really difficult to describe, it’s a lot of things simultaneously, making it rather unique. At its core it’s a retro pixel platformer which also uses the classic puzzle mechanic of being able to stick to walls and ceilings with your gravitational boots, thus tilting the world while walking on them. It starts off as an adventure-like game with light platforming sections, then adds the puzzle elements, slowly turns up the platforming difficulty, later even features light stealth sections. And after several chapters and lots of hours, when you think you’re probably pretty far into the game …. it surprises you again and turns into a whole Metroidvania with complex huge map and new abilities. Add to that several city locations and a whole cast of arcade and minigames in-between. All the while no level really feels the same, there’s always something fresh to mix things up. Seriously, the pure amount of content is simply breathtaking, especially if you take into account that most of the game has been done by 1 single person. And let’s not forget the really great original retro soundtrack, with again lots of funny references. For an example an Egyptian robot boss features a theme that adapts The Offspring’s classic ‘Come Out and Play’ in a rather catchy retro tune, or in Dance Master you can play to a Scottish adaption of Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman’.

Horace, Horace, Horace… The first time I heard about Horace was when Epic gave it away in January 2020, and I liked the look of all the different references I saw in the trailer. Unfortunately, I didn’t get around to playing it. It was then included in May 2020’s Humble Choice, so I grabbed it again in the hopes that I’d be reminded to play it if it’s sitting in my library. A couple of months later and I’ve finally done it, and holy cow, am I glad I did!

As it turns out, Horace is a whole lot more than the simple platformer with a few funny references that I initially thought it would be. It’s an impressive, heartfelt story, with lovable characters, constant challenges, pure hilarity, and more references than you could imagine! I’d be amazed if somebody actually noticed or knew every reference! What was more surprising is that there were many particularly British references, so I got to enjoy certain moments that little bit more! I don’t think a game has made me laugh as much as Horace did, and then tear that joy away, turning it to sorrow, anger, or frustration. It was quite the roller-coaster ride.

James Peris 2: La fuente de la eterna embriaguez

James Peris 2: La fuente de la eterna embriaguez

James Peris, the rookie secret agent 00.5 is back! He will have to solve no more and no less than two missions; yes, TWO missions in one game. Hence the 2 in the title…

This time Peris will have to deal with a mafia boss and get the lost necklace of Sant Angelo, one of the jewels created by Leonardo Da Vinci. At the same time, he will have to find the mythical Holy Great Beer, a legendary artifact forgotten for centuries. Why leave such important missions to someone so incompetent? We have no such answer.
