Who is behind Muslim 3D?

Bigitec Studio is a young, aspiring startup, a team of open-minded & passionate game designers and industry professionals. Founder and Creative Director is Bilal Chbib, a Muslim who was born and raised in Germany. To ensure that our content is based on well-researched and authentic knowledge, we have a team of scholars and historians who are involved in the production of Muslim 3D. Visit our website to learn more!

Why did you create Muslim 3D?

There are hardly any products with decent quality that would portray our faith accurately. If you found Muslims in games at all, there’s a good chance they were holding an AK-47 rifle and needed to be gunned down. This only strengthened my wish to work on something that enable people to relate to our rich Islamic history, and to use this wonderful, strong medium - video games - to unearth the vast knowledge unfortunately not taught at schools or in mass media, such as how Muslim scientists have contributed to our world, or why we have certain rituals and where they come from. Muslim 3D can also be an accessible tool for Non-Muslims to learn about Islam and may even help tear down walls of fear built over the past decades." (Bilal Chbib, Founder & Creative Director)

I’d like to support you - how?

We have been working tirelessly for quite some time now and as you probably know - game development is a challenging and expensive undertaking. To support the continuous development we came up with some ideas and launched a pre-order campaign. Read more on our website.

Ah yes - of course a great way to support Muslim 3D is to add it your Steam Wishlist and to spread the word by sharing the Muslim 3D Website with your friends!

Join us on this breathtaking adventure and bear with us! Our goal is to design Muslim 3D to become a tranquil, enjoyable and inspiring place to be - like a virtual vacation for your soul. Feel free to get in touch for feedback and suggestions!

My Experience

The game got off to a semi-interesting start, and I became invested in the story pretty quickly. It’s always a little odd playing a game that was designed for VR without a headset, as the sensation of being on rails and being teleported forwards is more prominent.

The game fell apart a for me during the scene that takes place after the radio repair. The character that had been helping me said to an enemy combatant, “There is no place for your kind anymore […] You Sokranian scum get what you deserve […] You don’t belong in our country.” Immediately, I lost sympathy for this character and his “side” in the conflict. As an American, I just can’t get behind this sentiment. These statements hit too close to home with respect to the way that some intolerant people see those south of our borders. Of course, on the other hand, we have a faction that is acquiring and planning chemical weapon attacks that run afoul of international humanitarian law. So no sympathy here either.

Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2

This is a mostly narrative-driven, cinematic experience with some basic interactions. You’re basically in a war-torn situation in the Middle East involving the possible use of chemical weapons. You basically have to decide which side you’ll be helping early on and then live with the possible consequences. Whole thing took me 16 minutes.

The game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting a steady 90 fps. There is no locomotion, instead you are automatically teleported from one scene to the next. You use a flashlight to highlight objects to either make a decision on how to act or clear an objective.

Mocap Fusion [ VR ]

Mocap Fusion [ VR ]

Motion Capture Fusion [VR] is an immersive roomscale mocap sandbox for artists and animators who wish to create and export motion capture animations_, or create live content_, using conventional VR hardware. With as little as a single VR HMD and two controllers users may create mocap on their own avatars. Advanced users may create more detailed motion capture including full body tracking and can be combined with other sensors (eg. Apple IPhone Truedepth sensor and Oculus Quest 2 optical finger tracking) to connect avatars to simultaneous inputs. This fusion of multiple sensor can combine many layers of motion capture in a single take; including: full body tracking, face capture, lipsync, gaze tracking, optical finger tracking.

Highlights

The term “getting into character” may apply here as literally connecting one’s self to an avatar as completely as possible and seeing them selves in a (VR) mirror while acting out a script.

Users may include their own completely custom characters (avatars) and use the same avatar throughout the production workflow. This eliminates the need for retargeting and ensures the mocap data always fits 1:1 without causing any offsets in the final results.

One of the unique features of Mocap Fusion is that it has the ability to export motion capture data and reconstruct the scene in Blender, making it available for final rendering in minutes .

Compatible Headsets (VR HMDs)

  • Valve Index

  • HTC Vive (and Vive Pro Eye).

  • Oculus Quest (1 and 2).

Optional Tracking Hardware

  • SteamVR Vive trackers.

  • IPhone Truedepth sensor (facecap and eye tracking).

  • Oculus Quest 2 (full optical finger tracking).

Capabilities

  • Export mocap and create scenes in Blender™ instantly.

  • HTC™ Vive Trackers (Up to 11 optional points) full body tracking.

  • Ability to record, playback, pause, slomo, scrub mocap in VR.

  • Customizable IK profiles and avatar parameters.

  • SteamVR Knuckles support for individual finger articulation.

  • Quest 2 optical finger tracking app for individual finger articulation and finger separation.

  • Vive Pro Eye blink and gaze tracking support.

  • Sidekick IOS Face capture app (Truedepth markerless AR facial tracking).

  • User customizable Worlds, Avatar and Props may be built for mocap using the APS_SDK.

  • Compatible with existing Unity3D™ avatars and environments.

  • Supports custom shaders on mocap avatars.

  • DynamicBone support for adding hair, clothing and body physics simulation to avatars.

  • Breathing simulation for added chest animation.

  • Add/Record/Export VR Cameras for realistic camera mocap (eg. VR Cameraman effect).

  • Optimization for exporting mocap (.bvh) data to Daz 3D.

  • Placement of “streaming” cameras for livestreaming avatars to OBS or as desktop overlays.

  • Microphone audio recording with lip-sync visemes and recordable jaw bone rotation.

  • Storyboard mode, save mocap experiences as pages for replaying or editing later.

  • Animatic video player, display stories and scripts, choreograph movement.

  • Dual-handed weapon IK solvers for natural handling of carbines.

  • Recordable VTOL platform for animating helicopter flight simulation (eg. news choppers).

  • VR Camcorders and VR selfie cams may be rigidly linked to trackers.

  • VR props and firearms may be rigidly linked to trackers.

  • Ghost curves for visualizing the future locations of multiple avatars in a scene.

Gameplay

The experience depends on the user’s PC and the tracking hardware used. The recommended SteamVR headsets are the Valve Index or the HTC Vive. A Quest HMD may also produce reasonable results. It is also possible to use the software without an HMD (eg. when livestreaming). Full body tracking is only available when using feet and hip trackers (and optional elbows, knees, chest). Users may achieve more realistic tracking results when using body trackers. Body trackers are optional and standing mocap is supported. Further realism my be achieved on compatible avatars by also enabling face capture or using a Vive Pro Eye for gaze and blink tracking.

History

Originally this was designed as an intuitive way for users to create virtual training videos and presentation in an immersive VR environment for added realism and then export their animation for rendering. The project was made available to a community for beta testing and since has received feedback and many feature requests which has helped add to the utility of the software for a verity of different creators.

VR Nara Park

VR Nara Park

Having been to the real Nara Park in Japan in the past I kind of knew what I was respecting here and for the most part, it does kind of deliver what it needs to. This is a very small experience in which you can teleport around a small area of a virtual recreation of the real-world park. There is no movement turning here whatsoever and just teleport movement. So you will have to play in a swivel chair or play standing up. It looks OK I guess especially as you can play about with the time of day, but there is nothing here to justify the £7.19. You can’t interact with anything and there is only a small amount of educational material telling you all about the park. Some might find this relaxing I suppose, but I just found it a little overpriced and a little bit pointless. While I have given it a thumbs down if I could give it a neutral rating I would have.

Real player with 0.2 hrs in game

The environment isn’t big

The game didn’t perform well with random bits of slowdown

Its teleport only with no turning buttons of any kind

I’ve seen at least one of the character models in other games

But I wont lie it was relaxing

It did have gorgeous views and audio

I enjoyed having NPCs and deer walking around

and it wasn’t expensive at all

VR Nara Park has issues and feels like an early access title in some ways

the grass for one looks horrible up close

I hope that the studio behind this can add smooth locomotion and smooth turning

The Holy City

The Holy City

This is an amazing tool for anyone curious to learn more about Jerusalem and the many religions that coexist in this fantastic place. Very well executed. I have to say it’s very unusual for me to review projects. This because very few actually wow me to the point of actually wanting to share it with others…. This is an amazing experience that allows you to feel like you can touch the Holy Sepulcher and place a note on the Western Wall. Just fantastic. I know this is a virtual visit- but the fact the places were scanned from real life really makes me appreciate the accuracy and be able to enjoy looking at each location at my own pace. Throughout this journey I really enjoyed seeing the beautiful realistic-looking recreation of many Jerusalem temples that allowed me to freely look around and spend a lot of time inspecting painting and inscriptions on the walls. When it switched from the interactive gamefied version to the 360 video version was totally amazing to recognize the precise location where the camera was placed and enjoy seeing it filled with real people. I hope to see more soon.
