Abandon Ship

Abandon Ship

Version 0.5.something…

It’s… Okay.

A lot of it is very comfortable fun. You find yourself a combat, you watch your little micro managed crew and you snot your enemy. It’s fun in a non challenging sense. You buy 6 crew as quickly as possible, keep them alive with a bit of micro management and use the play style that amuses you most at the time. Simple really. Learning curve is a bit steep at the start but flattens out after a few combats.

The rest of the game at this stage of it’s release? Yeah…

So the first major update hit, Treasures of the Deep, it wasn’t as big of a shift as compared to pre-release builds versus the first EA build. The update itself is not an expansion per say, but more of a refinement to what we already had, aside the two new mechanics that count, you could say that there are more, but it boils down to just two major ones(more on that later).

Here’s the run down of the refinement from when I last edited the review:

-Improved fps on not so amazing computers

-Plenty of bug fixes

Juno

Juno

Don’t try to save the world, try to save a city instead!

Juno is an RPG game named after its main character who lives in Nexus City, a peaceful city in most circumstances until events happen which make it a… not so peaceful place.

The pace of progression is completely determined by the player. How events occur and when is determined by the speed at which the players clear those missions. Clearing missions unlock scenarios which progress the true story of the game.

Despite being made with RPG Maker MV, Juno does NOT use turn based combat. Instead, it uses a rather active form of strategy combat in which you must navigate around attacks, pace your resources and combo skills for devastating effects!

Combat navigation allows for moving, regular attacks, special skills, guarding and evading.

Combining certain skills unleash a combo finisher which has boosted power, limited invincibility and amazing effects.

The game is not all about combat as missions can only be taken once a day, players can spend that down time clearing realms for crafting resources or taking part in certain special events.

Crafting in Juno is not like other RPG Games in which you simply collect the items on a list, press OK and then BOOM, you get the item. Juno has an optional Match3 style crafting system in which players can take part in for additional crafted items.

The game possesses a unique character customization feature in the form of [Soul Board].

The soul board allows you to fit runes based on level and shape. There are certain penalties and benefits runes can give with some penalties causing catastrophic penalties once certain lower limits are exceeded.

Legends of Eisenwald

Legends of Eisenwald

It pains me to see that such a great game only has ‘mostly positive’ reviews, whereas, in my opinion, it should have actually been ‘very/overwhelmingly’ instead of ‘mostly’. It is definitely one of my favorite games; in fact, it made my summer last year. I’ve played through it three times (including all the DLCs), twice here on Steam and once elsewhere, and I’m sure I’ll replay it at least for the fourth time.

This game is by the way the first modern RPG I’ve played, and it has also – apart from being a gorgeous experience itself – managed to draw me to the genre (I’ve always preferred playing pure adventure games and eventually strategies) and discover several other awesome games. But this one is going to remain my incomparable first love forever. :) At first I was a bit hesitant about playing it, as some reviews claimed it be too hard/confusing etc., but I cannot agree here. Once I got used to the mechanics, it was a sheer joy to play. At times, ‘Legends of Eisenwald’ can indeed be hard, especially considering your finances at the very beginning and certain fights, but I – almost utterly inexperienced in playing RPGs as I was back then – didn’t find it frustratingly tough. I think it was hard to a very reasonable degree, and I kept on feeling rewarded by the narrative through the whole game.

Okay.. phwoa!!… long game. Just finished it - in at around 100 hours - Final Fantasy eat your heart out. A few late nights let me tell you. I feel that this game deserves the time and effort for me to write at least something about it and how I felt about it even if to just say it was a good game. But I will do more because I felt this game really was something special and I have derived so much enjoyment from it that it is the least I could do.

I bought this game on sale for a few pennies (I can’t remember now but I think it was for under $5) and didn’t really have too high hopes for it considering its price and look but was then completely overturned in my opinion by what is essentially a really great game that in no wise is properly represented by its appearance. DON’T judge a book by its cover! Boy, don’t judge this book by its cover, it is a great game for what its worth. I think this game goes for around $20 more or less on steam and that is about the right price for this game. You won’t regret parting with that hard earned cash. If you see this game for anything less than $10 buy it straight away, don’t hesitate, you won’t regret it. You might ask if it is such a great game why is it only worth $20 dollars? Well that is what I will attempt to explain.

The Wednesday

The Wednesday

I can’t believe that the game cost me $15. You can enjoy a lot lot better games with way cheaper price. Do not buy it if you cherish your money. I purchase this only because I wanted to find out why many people blame this game so much. I didn’t want to criticize this game before I actually play it to the end. Now I can, so here I start.

Story was fair enough, but not great. Personally I thought the story was ok. It’s probably the only positive part of this game, but there is little to spoil so I don’t understand why they asked for not streaming the later chapters. The puzzles during the game were too easy so it’s not even worth mentioning.

Pathway

Pathway

Build 1.1.6 review

This is an Indiana Jones (Temple of Doom/ Raiders of the Lost Ark) inspired role play tactics game that is suitable for players relatively new to tactical games. This is because each skirmish is generally resolved within 5 minutes. The adventure itself can last an hour or so depending on your choices and the number of sectors (maps) assigned to that adventure. Each adventure sector will always start and end at defined locations, but the possible routes are always procedurally generated. You can save after any encounter has been resolved.

🎤Introduction

Pathway is a turn-based rogue-like that takes its core mechanics inspired by the Xcom series and its art style and story inspired by Indiana Jones. Neither of these hinders the game because it’s not original, in fact these two combined work well together. Though the rogue-like elements don’t suit the strategic and cautious gameplay style very well and overall it makes the game more repetitive and frustrating than it needs to be.

This is a game that’s still being worked on, that’s clear enough to see. There’s bugs and glitches galore, but that hasn’t taken away from my enjoyment of it! It’s a fun RPG with a surprisingly large map and I’ve already had hours and hours of gameplay. It’s a REALLY open world game with a lot to explore. I’m playing the free early access version, that’s likely affecting my opinion, but since it is free I think anyone should just give it a shot.

Battlecruiser Millenium Gold was for a long time only available as a DVD with copy protection, has never been freeware and became rare. Being a favorite of many fans and after a request (by me among others), it has now been re-released as download on Steam (for now) in a bundle with its predecessors to celebrate the 25th birthday of Battlecruiser 2000AD’s release.

The reasons for a purchase must be clarified by everyone for themselves. Except Battlecruiser Millenium Gold, all other games are free to find on abandonware sites.
