Inexplicable Deaths In Damipolis: Inner Thoughts

This game is in an unplayable, buggy state. It is my opinion that this game should not have been released in the state that it’s in. Some bugs that you’ll encounter:

-Does not appear to recognize controllers

-Both English and Espanol language options are labeled “Espanol.”

-“Notes” menu completely non-functional.

-Many inventory items are labeled “Placeholder” when trying to view.

-Getting trapped in menus is a common occurrence, causing user to have to force-shutdown game.

-Inventory items randomly disappear.

everybody dead, whodunnit? not only is this a question regarding the story of inexplicable deaths in damipolis, but it also applies to the game itself. everything is pretty much broken, and I guess people mentioned in the credits dunnit. they had one whole tester, which explains a lot, and I’m sure kickstarter backers are ecstatic about the result.

Really amazing piece of art, do not undermine it’s simple nature. This game makes you think you know whats going on, then proceeds to shatter your expectations. It takes story telling to another level, truly taking you in a journey of wits. Every single choice you make impacts your outcome, everything you think you know, is wrong. Especially on your second play through. Don’t bother restarting because you messed up your choice.

Amazing and literally all what I’ve been waiting for! For a while I never thought Buff Studio would really adapt 7Days for PC, but here we are, enjoying this amazing game on HD on Steam.

I still plan on finishing the entire game and reliving every path on the game. The new art is AMAZING and never fails to amaze me. Gosh, I really missed seeing Kirell on the original artstyle. I can’t wait to see what more new things I can find!

I really hope with 7Days on Steam, the game grow on popularity. 7Days really deserves recognition and I would be glad to welcome new fans with open arms. Thanks for creating this awesome game Buff Studio!

Death Becomes You - Mystery Visual Novel

Death Becomes You - Mystery Visual Novel

I am currently aiming for a complete playthrough with all endings before I write an extended review for another outlet. It’s an intriguing tale that dances in that moral grey area, at least that’s where I’m at right now.

A very great game! It got me more and more hooked as I progressed through the story.

It’s a murder mystery that focus on the relationship of the characters and you can keep discovering their depths and how different they are. The routes have distinct vibes allowing me to get attached to each character’s personalities while also showing the different sides of Lyra, and how strong her presence is for better of for worse.

It deals with magic in a interesting way, in a dark tone that shows the multiple possibilities and the dangers of magic in thsi world.

DETECTIVE MAID TO THE RESCUE!

Absolutely adored playing this, it’s the right mix of murder mystery and tropey silliness. I had a ton of fun and am glad I picked this up on a whim.

We play Ellie, an orphan girl in the 1920s who has found a job as a live-in maid in a Victorian mansion, at night she dreams a vision of a terrible murder featuring the lord of the house and he’s far too pretty to die so she must save him somehow! With a shady cast of relatives and strangers showing up for discussion of the late master’s inheritance, who could be behind it?

A fun, short mystery visual novel i would easily recommend to anyone who likes mystery and/or otome games as a genre. Quite enjoyable and worth the price imo. Since the developers decided to release an english version of this game on steam, i hope they will also consider releasing the DLC content that hasn’t been translated yet. I would love to be able to read it and see more interactions between the characters.

The only criticism i have, regarding something that left me a bit dissatisfied, is that i find the romance a little lacking, and the branching paths a little meaningless, as the only difference between them was one short scene and the epilogue, which changed according to the character you choose to pursue. (especially disappointing for me because i left my favorite boy for last, so i was a bit bummed out to see there was very little interaction with him)

Choices That Matter: And The Sun Went Out

Incredible, a definite must play if you enjoy CYOA books and games. While not literally every choice you make is going to change the course of the narrative, they hel immerse the player into the main character’s role, this paired with the intresting story and characters, and the intriguing mysteries make for an amazing experience if you like this kind of game

I’m just starting arc 5 i think and wow has it been a cool ride so far. i googled it and apparently on any given play through you only read 150,000 of a total 600,000 words which leads me to believe that these choices that seem like they really change whats going on, really do. Which also inspires anxiety but hey that’s all in the fun of making serious choices. so far solid 8/10 8.5 because canada eh

Death Come True

Death Come True

Coming from the same creator of Danganronpa, Death Come True is a marvelous FMV with a very interesting and genius gameplay. You play as a person who woke up in a hotel room with no memories of what brought him to this place. He’ll meet people who’ll tell him what is his identity, or what they thought he is. I’m not going to give away much about the story because it’ll be more fun for you to discover it yourself.

It has multiple endings, and the most interesting part that if you die, the game will restart but the main character will still have a memory of whatever event happened and the people he met. This will give you a chance to take different choices and decisions.

I recommend this game, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t leave me disappointed. Death Come True comes to us from the developer of the Danganronpa series and is a FMV mystery title. As the story plays out, the game will occasionally prompt you to make a choice where you then witness the outcome of your decision; like a Choose Your Own Adventure novel. However, that’s where my primary criticism of the game comes in. Despite the illusion of choice, DCT is actually very linear. Usually you are left with deciding between one of two paths, but making the “incorrect” decision often leads to a quick Game Over and the option to continue the game at the last branch in the story line, so you can make the other choice and advance. It doesn’t always play out like this, but in the interest of avoiding spoilers, I’ll ease up on getting more specific. Also, this game is a lot shorter than I was expecting. In 3.4 hours, I earned all the achievements and witnessed all the branching outcomes. Granted, there is a fast-forward option that I used to bypass scenes that had already played out in a previous playthrough, but I still wanted a little more meat on this bone. So, why do I recommend it? Because it’s not a bad game. The story is interesting, albeit not as mind-blowing as I was hoping. Just know that you’re getting a bite-sized, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch-esque experience and not much else. With experience in the Zero Escape and Danganronpa series' prior to playing this game, it’s conceivable my expectations were too high. Nevertheless, I look forward to the seeing what Too Kyo Games comes up with next. But as it concerns DCT, I recommend waiting for a sale.

Night Book

Night Book

Even though I’m average when it comes to keeping up with new games and playing them, I’ve really liked the FMVs/interactive games that Good Gate Media and Wales Interactive have been releasing recently, and Night Book is no exception! Even without knowing that it was filmed remotely in lockdown, it’s an enjoyable game with interesting characters: the beginning feels like a slow burner, but it sets up the story brilliantly and you quickly become fully immersed in the lore. I love the decision points in the game - they really feel like they make an impact and I can’t wait to play it again to go through the other story route now that I’ve completed the first run-through as it feels completely different. I was also really pleased with how the game dealt with the occult elements because I was never frightened out of my skin but I totally bought the creepiness of the story and Loralyn’s urgency, it’s really well done! I really felt for the characters and got very engrossed in the decisions given as Loralyn, and I was never bored while playing. Plus the fact that Night Book was filmed entirely remotely during lockdown is an amazing feat and makes the game even more impressive. Night Book is definitely value for money entertainment-wise even for people who aren’t hardcore gamers/horror fans, and I’d definitely recommend it!

FMV has some hit or miss titles out there. I’ve gotta say, I really like this one. It’s pretty short and definitely made to play multiple times, but this one is a fun complete in one sitting type of FMV. To give you a clue where my FMV tastes are, here’s a map of my fmvs.

Loved: Five Dates, Late Shift, I Saw Black Clouds, Shapeshifting Detective, Eric.

Disliked: The Complex, The Bunker - I know those are unpopular opinions, but just giving you a rough idea of where I’m at.

Pros:

  • Acting really makes or breaks an FMV. The most polished writing and cinematography is useless if everyone acts like they’re putting on a high school play. Loralyn is great, really sells the horror and shock portions well. Pretty much all of the supporting characters nailed it. I’d say there’s some minor hiccups here and there, but that seems to stem from everyone being filmed separately.

My Dear Frankenstein -English Edition-

My Dear Frankenstein -English Edition-

A very cute and fun puzzle game from NUMBER7 and Moonchime. I played this for the spooky season and the atmosphere was perfect! (Not to say you can’t play it at any time of the year)

The main character is a boy named Adam who has been given life by a reclusive and wealthy man rather obsessed with pushing the boundaries of science and technology. After being warned about leaving the mansion due to his startling appearance, Adam receives a mysterious visitor who wants him to do the exact opposite. As it turns out, pieces of Adam’s heart have been scattered throughout the town and he must explore to get them back.
