Fable Anniversary

Fable Anniversary

This review is biased due to childhood nostalgia. That being said this is an excellent game. If it is on sale and you like rpg’s even a tiny bit, I would definitely recommend this.

I love to sell 4000 wedding rings/apples to just buy and sell them back again for a a large profit.

Perfectly balanced economy.

60 Seconds! Reatomized

60 Seconds! Reatomized

I picked up 60 Seconds! Reatomized for only £3 and its definitely been worth my money. The game is one of my favourites of all time and I’m happy to gotten all the achievements for it.

The main premise of the game is to survive the apocalypse until you get one of the game’s many endings. However this is easier said than done and there may be a couple things that try to stop you from reaching your goal. You’ve got to manage food, water ,other supplies and sanity to survive.

The characters are likeable, unique and have their own personalities, the setting is very reminiscent of the mid 20th century, the atmosphere is dark and comedic and the soundtrack (even though there isn’t much on it) really sets the mood. I have also never encountered a single bug or had an issue at all which really made me appreciate the game more.

A refreshed version of 60 Seconds!

This review will be short because not too much has changed compared to the basic version of the game.

Review of 60 Seconds!

Two endings have been added, which are long-term, meaning that we have to play a few games and count on luck to unlock them. Also, the game interface has been changed in the menu, and also in the bunker. The book has several tabs, which we can operate without clicking arrows. Additionally, we have some new events.

The Forgotten City

The Forgotten City

This game is pretty good and I love it, tho it does have some problems but I do recommend anyone play it.

A very interesting an engaging story, a gameplay loop that’s pretty fun, and a lot of fantastic quality of life.

Pros:

-Fine Gameplay

-IMO brings the strengths of Skyrim of movements and conversation trees

-A Good story and mystery

-fantastic graphics

Cons:

-Combat is a bit janky

-Sometimes the animations and interactions bug out

Overall: This feels like another one of my favorite games Paradise Killer in that its a interesting mystery that engages you with story and compelling characters. I am excited to see more from this dev in the future.

Honestly a really good way of using a loop mechanic, it’s a bit of a gimmick at this point and usually not the most fun to have all progress made depending on resetting all progres. But with Galerius it’s not as tedious.

So the game story wise is pretty fun with some very interesting story lines. It first and foremost being a skyrim mod comes through here as it has a greater focus on many small stories to build the world around you. This ties together nicely to give the main story and the “canon ending” great build up and makes it feel organic.

Café Rouge

Café Rouge

I wish there was a middle-ground in whether to recommend the game. At least not until some of the bugs have been fixed such as being stuck after one of the endings and some minor adjustments as well.

While I did feel some nostalgia for the old game and was really excited to see how the reboot plays out, it feels slightly off-putting. While It does have beautiful artwork and the visual presentation looks divinely polished, it doesn’t seem to have some of the charm the old one has.

Don’t get me wrong; the artwork may have been inconsistent in the old version and those cooking mini games were hard AF, I thought the way it was made was very innovative and I always wonder what it would be like if those aspects were polished and brought back to the reboot or just something to add after unlocking a chapter.(I can only just dream about it lol)

3rd edit, probably final. I’ll reiterate ; My review may seem harsh but due to the polished look of the art and characters it gives the impression it’s a very polished game - It is not.

I don’t recommend this game.

You can play it for free on a browser I believe via the publisher for 3 of the routes. Try that/the demo first - then decide.

Honest suggestion ; You name your character “Ebony Darkness Dementia Raven Way”, the Ebony Darkness part being just the first name. You’ll have a better understanding of how this game reads if you’re familiar with the name.

Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered

Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered

A cult classic with a unique approach to storytelling and a polarizing third act.

2005’s “Fahrenheit” or “Indigo Prophecy” (the latter was the name given to the censored version released in the USA and other countries) was marketed as the first interactive film. At a time where few games dared to be like movies, David Cage (who was lead director and writer) aimed to bridge the gap and show that video games can also tell deep and meaningful stories. Whether Fahrenheit actually did this successfully is up for debate, but what’s known for certain is that David Cage changed the landscape of video games in a huge way.

Review

+ Merits:

When it comes to combining the cinematic media with the interactive storytelling genre, Quantic Dream unequivocally wins the gold medal. Instead of watching a movie and being constrained by what the writer intends, you are the one who pulls the strings of its events. Back in 2005, Indigo Prophecy was way ahead of its time in capturing the dramatic, pictorial elements of a film and implementing these elements in an atmospheric game that’s driven by a thrilling crime story to create a unique experience of cinematic gameplay.

King of Dragon Pass

King of Dragon Pass

I am of extremely conflicted opinions on this game. TL;DR, this game is unique enough that if you have any interest in its concept at all, you should probably get it at least on sale, in spite of its flaws.

I also will not weigh in on the GOG versus Steam versions debate, as I don’t own the GOG version. The GOG/classic PC version is less expensive, and has your clan tula (lands) improvements shown on a map, while the Steam/iOS version has higher resolution support.

That said, the good:

This is a game of serious choice-and-consequence gameplay that isn’t bound up in a single black-and-white morality system. It can be a serious game of strategic choice and risk-management, as well as role-playing. The world, in particular, is rather detailed, and while the simulation is rather simple, it does manage to leave a sense of verisimilitude in the world. Other clans have military and economic strengths where their casualties and losses are recorded, and other clans feud and raid in the background without you.

4/5

King of Dragon Pass has rich and well thought out world. The story is captivating, events have consequences and you can get attached to your clans ring and its candidates.

I have finished a short campaign, and I still have a lot to learn. I played as a passive peace clan, who traded and avoided conflict, but I had my fair share of it. The diplomacy felt a bit wonky and randomized. Warring felt unimpactful and tiresome. The events were really the cream of the game. In the end all I really wanted to do was solve the issues of the clan. Everything else was and felt trivial to me.

STEINS;GATE ELITE

STEINS;GATE ELITE

The ULTIMATE Visual Novel with nary an equal. 10/10 MASTERPIECE

Before this, Muv-Luv trilogy was just a hairbreadth ahead of Steins;Gate because of the work put into the presentation of said VN, Comparing stories, Steins;Gate draws me in sooner, but they both hit equally as hard where they need to… But now, with a fully animated remake of the original, every scene being completely animated by White Fox (creators of Steins;Gate, S;G 0, and Re:Zero -Starting Life in a New World-, 3 of my favorite anime of all time.), there’s never a dull moment. Even the parts I didn’t care too much for in the original I love to watch here completely animated.

Steins;Gate Elite gives you the experience of the original Steins;Gate but with the visuals of the anime. In my opinion, if you’re trying to introduce someone to visual novels in general, Steins;Gate Elite could potentially be a better alternative over the original.

There are many things that I like about Elite over the original visual novel. For one thing, the visuals are pretty good except for the timing of the video with the actual words (the video tends to lag behind that text on screen). Additionally, the soundtrack is kept intact with each scene having the same or similar tracks playing as the original. Finally, the message triggers in the game (which are required for different endings) being something placed at the end of a scene over mid-scene in the original just felt more fitting.

King’s Quest

King’s Quest

I absolutely love the original King’s Quest series. I remember playing the originals as a child when they were the cutting edge of computer gaming and was the flagship series of Sierra Games. I even continued to replay the entire series once every couple years. When I found out that they were finally going to make a new King’s Quest, I was both excited and concerned.

The original minds, writers, artists, etc… who had created one of the most treasured computer game series of all time were not going to be involved in the game. On one hand I wanted to love it because it meant new life for this beloved series. On the other hand, I wanted to hate it because I feared it would also fall short of the original series. After playing it, I still have some conflicted feelings about it.

A downward spiral

Episode 1 = Great

Episode 2 = Good

Episode 3 = OK

Episode 4 = Bad

Episode 5 = Awful

First off, let me say that Episode 1 is currently free, so I highly recommend everyone plays that. It’s smart, interesting, and pretty long. I wouldn’t, however, recommend anyone then purchase the following episodes. They’re simply shadows of the first chapter, and it’s simply not worth supporting developers like this.

Allow me to elaborate by breaking all the chapters down.

Chapter 1

Full of different characters, interesting puzzles, and wonderful humour. Although you’re not held by the hand, the game allows you to go off in any direction and either come across any of the 3 above mentioned gems of this game. You may stumble upon a sneaky trader, or perhaps dance with a giant troll. Perhaps you’ll accidentally ruin a romantic meal, or even fight a dragon.

BioShock™ Remastered

BioShock™ Remastered

Amazing game, buried at sea (aka ‘The Plane Wasn’t The Only Thing That Crashed’)

As much as it pains me to say (because the story, setting, music, and gameplay are excellent), severe issues make it difficult to recommend Bioshock Remastered in it’s current state (as of July 2017). Crashes are frequent and sometimes result in deleted saves. If you insist on playing this game now, be prepared to babysit your saves and redo sections you’ve already completed.

Pro Tip:

Save every 5-10 minutes or so, then move your save file out of the default directory: C:\Users\ProfileName\Documents\BioshockHD\Bioshock\SaveGames\

Detailed review without any major spoilers.

The whole game takes place in Rapture - an underwater city. Don’t expect to be in the water though. It’s hard to follow the story mostly because of the sound quality, almost everything you hear is coming through a radio. There aren’t many people you can interact with and by that I mean actual characters that matter. There are literally unlimited number of enemies though. They seem to spawn every now and then so you never feel like you’re running around in an empty map.
