Hisato no Saku

Hisato no Saku

A quick, fun, and replayable experience.

I failed pretty quickly on my first playthrough, but on my second I made it all the way to the end and did fairly well with my food stores and my village survived the winter.

Thinking I had it all figured out, I played again a couple days later and was not able to achieve the same success again, failing a number of times, and making it to the end once but without enough food stored for my whole village.

There are a lot of little details to pick up on for strategy, and then of course there is some luck involved as well. I hope to eventually make it to the end with a village population that is actually happy but I have a feeling that will take some time.

I was looking forward to this based on cool art style and hoped for a chill game similar to “papers, please”

So far it’s delivering on my expectations. The gameloop is somewhat random, and there aren’t so many ‘stranger’ types I’ve encountered, so it seems fun to replay but not infinitely so (and FWIW the slow text scroll to end each night can’t be skipped).

Update: I’ve had no issues since the developer’s first update. It runs as expected and is a fun 20-40 minute challenge I still haven’t beat. Recommended.

Short also Acheivements dont work and nothing unlocks when you finish Blanche.

This feels like a demo to a demo. There is only 7-10 minutes of content and far more locked options than available options. 3 of the Achievements also don’t work/can’t be attempted either. How awful.

The Dragon and the Djinn

The Dragon and the Djinn

Everyone knows the story. The young man who came out of nowhere to become the Emir of Ghariba when the previous ruler went missing. The djinn who helped him by granting wishes. The Grand Vizier Jaafar, whose noble birth and political skill placed him in the palace at the Emir’s right hand.

What they don’t know is what happened next - and that’s where you come in.

The Dragon and the Djinn is a 620,000 word interactive epic fantasy novel by Athar Fikry, where your choices control the story. It’s entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

A dragon has appeared, threatening the safety of Ghariba and its new emir’s precarious reign.

You have a destiny. You’re not sure yet what it will be: perhaps you will protect the city, or become the greatest wielder of magic in the land, or gather enormous wealth.

You also have a sister. She believes that it is her destiny to slay the dragon, with a magic sword made by the warrior Iskander who has traveled from a far-off land in search of legendary creatures to fight.

Most importantly of all, you have a djinn, given to you by Jaafar himself. Your djinn will help you achieve your destiny by granting your every wish…or so you hope.

Navigate the politics of palace, court, and city; make allies - or enemies - among the people; all while the dragon soars overhead, threatening Ghariba more with every passing day. To find your way forward, you’ll have to use your magic, your wits, your courage, your faith, and of course, your djinn.

Will you help your sister slay the dragon? Will you try to slay it yourself? Or will you try to befriend it, learning deeper secrets of magic and the city’s past? Or will you simply take advantage of the chaos to make yourself the richest person in Ghariba?

  • Play as male, female, or non-binary; gay, straight, or bi; asexual, aromantic, or both; cis or trans.

  • Achieve your destiny as a dragon-slayer, a silver-tongued poet, the protector of the realm, or something even greater

  • Wish for more wishes! (No, sorry, you can’t actually do that.)

  • Secure the reign of the current emir, or scheme to depose him and replace him with another ruler - perhaps even take the throne yourself

  • Fly on a magic carpet

  • Find love with a dragon-slaying warrior, a charming court poet, an idealistic prophet, a lofty priestess, a wealthy noble - or even your djinn!

Be careful what you wish for…

Coffee Talk

Coffee Talk

One Chocobee Miruku please!

One of my all time favorite games is Va-11 Hall-A and ever since, I’ve been on the lookout for similar games ever since to scratch that itch it left behind. The closest I’ve gotten was playing The Red Strings Club which does have you literally pouring drinks to bring out certain emotions in your customers, but it turned out to be disappointing (for me at least). When I heard about Coffee Talk though, I knew I was going to pick this one up and play it as soon as I could. My decision was hammered home even more after I played the demo. Well, now that Coffee Talk is released how does it fare?

i stole this template ive always wanted to make one of these hehehe

  • DIFFICULTY -

this game was not that difficult at all. as i wanted to work on achievements though, i did use a guide from the start. without the guide, i do not think i wouldve gotten the “best” ending the first time. overall, i think the game is a fairly normal difficulty.

  • GRAPHICS -

this game has beautiful pixel art!!! i love pixel art. the art in this game is clean and i like it a lot. i wont say its amazing, but overall i think the art for the game is very nice and i think it plays a large part of the enjoyment for the game. each character is very unique and sticks out to me in good ways. there wasnt one character design that fell flat, they all made good impressions on me.

NORSK: Epistle

NORSK: Epistle

Definitely a worthy purchase if you want to experience something new, especially for the price. Solving puzzles in different dimensions is a new concept at least for me and probably the best and most entertaining thing about this game.

Alexey’s Winter: Night adventure

Alexey’s Winter: Night adventure

I enjoyed playing this short point and click game. The hand drawn scenes have a great sense of place and the snow gives shivery cold feeling so I really felt sorry for the main character locked out of his apartment. The music was a good match for the game. The dialogue was very funny and endearing.

I had a small technical problem with my computer before I could play this game but the devs were really helpful and responsive so that the game works as it should now.

I hope the developers add some more episodes as I would definitely play them.

Alexey’s Winter: Night adventure is a very short point & click adventure set in the 1989’s USSR. The game was initially launched in 2017 on the mobile platform and gained positive feedback from the players. At a later date, it received a second episode (and as of Sep 26 2021 a third one) and underwent several design changes. This version was now ported to Steam as a paid item, while the mobile one remains free but was reverted back to one episode only.

The story follows Alexey’s troubles during one cold winter night, trying to get back his lost apartment keys. After a series of intricate puzzles he manages to regain access to his home, only to find out that in the meantime his TV was stolen. This sets the plot for the second and third episodes, which are slightly longer than the first one.

Seven Wonders of St. Clementine

Seven Wonders of St. Clementine

I waited a while for this game. it looked super interesting and spooky but around 4 hours in and the game is overly slow not to mention the MANY spelling and grammar errors sprinkled around the somewhat cringe worthy dialog. The art and gore was amazing though along with the concept of the story it’s self though in a whole? this Visual novel has potential but was executed poorly.

The quick time events are honestly terrible, unlike VN’s such as The Letter where the QTE’s are simple tasks while a scene unfolds. This is just button mashing half the time to a static image, and other half the time they are puzzles which you’d think would be enjoyable. Except they are just memory tests, nothing interesting.

Then there are the list of typo’s and errors.

Heck i’d fix it for them they are so obvious.

The Ultimate Trivia Challenge

The Ultimate Trivia Challenge

While the game is fun and addicting, it is also very frustrating as some of the answers do not correspond with question. An example would be… Who was the 42nd president and it would give you multiple actresses to choose from. In the spelling catagory sometimes the answers would have the same answers. However, if you chose the right answer it would be considered wrong because you picked the “wrong” box

This game needs a serious overhaul of it’s answers.

I think this is a fun trivia game, I love the party mode and was able to stream it on Mixer without a problem. My favorite mode would have to be the sound bites. I was able to play this game for over 3 hours without getting bored or having things seem repeatitive. My friends and I laughed so hard at each others rushed wrong answers. We truly had a lot of fun playing it. The biggest issue with this game if I am to be honest is the amount of errors it has in it. Spelling, grammar, not correct options, wrong answers, etc. I think it takes away from the game a bit but in the end for $5 it’s still fun to play with friends.
