Dark Moon

EMBRACE THE DARKNESS

Dark Moon is a survival strategy game where time is working against you. With the Moon’s electronics down it is up to you to traverse the lunar soil and try to make contact with Earth while managing your crew and resources. You will never know what you will encounter along your way, thus be prepared to make crucial decisions and live with the consequences. Whatever you do - don’t go into the light!

As a member of the Engineering Council sent by Moon Shell, your task was to oversee the construction of a newly developed mining system on the Moon. The simple objective changed dramatically when a massive solar storm hit the Earth, destroying all electronics in its wake. Soon after, you witness the Sun’s scorching heat as the Moon’s main communication relay falls into the light. You are alone, and now everything within the Sun’s reach is gone within seconds. The light is your enemy and the darkness is your salvation.

SOLAR PRESSURE

The Sun is destroying everything it touches, you must avoid its radiance. The Mechaplex - a giant, general-purpose engineering vehicle will stand as your base of operations. It will also serve as your getaway vehicle, thus plan your actions accordingly and escape the tireless enemy. You must constantly move forward.

NON-LINEAR SURVIVAL

A different experience with each playthrough as each location and event may bring unpredictable results. Scan the terrain and obstacles with your drones to prepare for what lies ahead. Embrace or beware of other survivors who will want to join your convoy. Gather minerals and use their properties to increase your chances of survival.

MANAGE YOUR MOBILE BASE

The Mechaplex is your means of survival; build new buildings on top of it, research new technologies, enhance your crew’s abilities, and traverse the lunar plains. Develop new mechanical prototypes that will enhance your mineral gathering or focus on enhancing your convoy’s movement speed to elude the Sun’s deadly grasp. You can’t stay in one place for too long.

IMPACTFUL DECISIONS

You are not the only one who is seeking a way out of this disaster. New crew members, some even pilots such as yourself, can join and bring you valuable abilities and new building platforms, but you have to feed and shelter them. Will you help the unfortunate? Or will you look out for yourself and not risk being betrayed? What kind of person are you?

CREW RELATIONSHIPS

Keep in mind that your crew will react to your decisions. Some members will dislike joining with someone from a rival country while others will embrace him. Decide to throw out a popular member and you may risk a revolt, which may have dire consequences for everyone.

Don’t let the simplicity fool you about this game. It’s actually a really fun game where you control all the cars in a time loop so you have to drive your car’s path to it’s destination smartly so the cars don’t collide. Great concept and soundtrack! This game is very enjoyable and worth you time.

Fantastic nice game i really like it. it gives a very great arcade game experience but mopdern version from the very old classic arcade game Missile defense. I give this a very huge hit for the PC i hope there will be updates and more addons/expansions to be added to this game.

I tried this and then wandered away to play other games for a few months. Coming back to it now, I realise it is actually pretty solid. It will take a long time to upgrade everything for the achievements and I can understand why people don’t put the time in but I am really enjoying this.

Some of the weapons are a real hoot. Basically, I am finding so far that the best strategy to build up plasma, which you use to buy the better stuff, is to buy 9 ammo refills and 9 base repair kits, which are both cheap and use your secondary currency, the cogs along with one upgrade for a base for the lightning gun then keep using the ammo refills on that base.

“Think, roll, match”

This game is brilliant as easy it is. 6 sided colored cube must find its way through a maze. No problem you think. But there are colored fields which must match with the same colored side of the cube. That’s the whole story. It makes you crazy when you cube is not in the right position. 105 action packed levels which can be theoretical solved in a minimum amount of moves (perfect). There are chapters A-G but I guess at least on chapter B you cannot solve any level quite easy perfect. So much trial and error. Or you are a genius that can flip and count the moves in your mind …

The Game We All Have To Play

Written for 1561’s Thoughts - Honest reviews, for busy people.

The Game We All Have To Play is worth some time. The premise of the game revolves around rhyme. If you make it through once you can say you’ve won, but it’s up to you if you think you’re done. 6/10

Ziggurat 2

Ziggurat 2

No joke– Ziggurat 2 is the best rouge-like I ever played. I’m not even exaggerating.

The virtual tonnes of progression, replay value, high skill ceiling and item-perk combos make this an absolute no-brainer. For the price tag of £20 the sheer amount of content you get is absolutely unreal. 11 heroes each with their own abilities, 60 weapons– all that can be mastered to individually upgrade, 24 amulets– adding second special abilities to any of your heroes, 219 perks that each have the ability to drastically change your character’s dynamics throughout runs– with most being able to be upgraded in tiers (1, 2, 3) as you level up in a run. All in a procedurally generated package that not only looks and sounds great, but actually feels polished– all gorgeously modelled, textured and animated to style. And the soundtrack, oh boy is it beautiful, especially ‘Pure Evil’. Actual undeniable goosebump-fest when going toe-to-toe with overwhelming hordes with its bowed strings, war-drums and Latin chants. Heavy season 1 Shingeki No Kyojin / Witcher Saga vibes soundtrack wise and I absolutely salute you Antti Martikainen.

  • Better graphics than its predecessor

  • Unlocking new stuff is fun (but it takes quite a while to get there - playing on Master difficulty at least)

  • A gun that shoots shurikens and lightning

  • Gameplay is fast and smooth…

  • … but shallow, most rooms is simply strafing backwards while dodging projectiles. Bosses only require you to keep a safe distance.

  • Rooms are often too cramped to move around in. Then there are a lot empty rooms that add nothing to the game other than a connection to the next rooms.
