Baldur’s Gate 3
Recommended only if you are willing to accept that it is not complete and is still yet a while away from being done. Very similar to Larian’s previous two games but with just enough tweaks to make it feel fresh and closer to DnD ruleset. Some say it may as well have been called DOS3. While true, it’s also not a bad thing. Those games IMO are responsible for the resurgence of the old-school CRPG genre. Personally, this is my dream game. Huge fan of the originals and huge fans of the DOS games. Actually had the out-loud thought back in 2014…“what if Baldur’s Gate made a comeback and these Larian dudes were the ones to do it?” Wish granted. People will nitpick and complain, but I’m beyond impressed with what I’ve seen so far. The RTWP argument has been done to death and if you want to cry about it, go play Pillars of Eternity. It’s so close a copy to the old Infinity engine games that it honestly got stale and lost its nostalgia shine real fast. I would have been disappointed if a new game bearing the BG name turned out to be the same stuff I played to death 20 something years ago. The scope of what Larian is going for here is extremely ambitious and I’m 110% rooting for them to pull it off. With all of the possible dialogue options and minor little attentions to detail, its like a real tabletop in that everyone who plays will be working through the same “module” but everyone is going to experience that story differently depending on the player or groups decisions. Obviously, proper tabletop DnD cant be played solo, but just like the original Baldurs Gate games, this is/will be the best possible way for a solo player without and IRL group to play with to experience its universe.

This is a pretty amazing game the best DnD based game I have ever played it is very good. There is still a lot of development needed would not recommend this game if you do not have a high performance PC with an SSD they definitely still need to do some work on the performance. When the game leaves early access it will be well worth it I can assure you. For right now once you get bored of the waiting for new content check out what the modding community has done there has been some really great player content.

Flight of the Athena
Lots of variety with bosses and enemies. Includes interesting time-based events mid-mission and enemies that come from all four directions, which gets pretty exciting pretty quickly. Well done, A To Play Ltd’s Flight of the Athena is pretty damn fun and very replayable!
While the portrait art may be lacking the rest of the in-game art are quite nice. Some odd design decisions on the tactical map but the actual battles and bosses are loads of fun. And multiplayer!

This game is excellent! It is a flashback to games like this that I played when I was younger but with great additions! You have two guns (one on a turret) which you control using the 2nd stock on the controller; this is great! Also there is an RPG and randomness factor which add to replayability. Got to buy it!

Crash The Core
A wonderful little rogue lite and deck building game. The UI is fairly basic but the mechanics are great which is bigger deal to me than shiny UI. I like the monster art and it in just the few days I’ve been playing the publisher has updated it, and fixed some things/issues. I believe it is a tiny or even one person maker of the game. So given the great mechanics and publisher seems to be wanting to make improvements, IMO it is by far worth the price! I always want to support small/indie developers, and this game so far been great fun!

It’s nothing revolutionary, but it definitely has its heart in the right place. I had a good time playing, and especially enjoyed it considering the price. If you’re a fan of roguelike deckbuilders, this’ll familiar but fun. The Summon and Item system makes for some interesting synergies. Just be wary of some annoying bugs and balance issues, which may or may not get patched out by the time writing this. Again, nothing phenomenal but pretty alright considering it’s their first game.

Octavian
Overview
Octavian is a procedural generated, platforming, twin-stick looter-shooter. Explore the galaxy with your crew of smugglers to solve mysteries, fight disgusting aliens, explore dungeons, and find exciting loot.
Classes
Choose from three classes (Commando, Assassin, or Engineer) and create your alien smuggler. Use procedurally generated guns, and other equipment to advance your skills as well.
Enemies
Within the depths of the many dungeons, there are dozen’s of horrid monstrosities to discover. These include procedural mini-bosses. The weapons and equipment you use will need to be carefully selected for different enemy types.
Familiars
Raise a cute little creature to defend you or obliterate your enemies with no mercy.
Universe
The Vectordic Union is a galactic government that presides over the majority of the Milky-Way galaxy. In the year 2386, following the genocide of the human race, the many other species became divided without any form of central governance. Douglas Simmons, a general in the Giraffe army, took charge of the galaxy by creating the Vectordic Union.
President Douglas Simmons, in his inagural address to the people of Milky-Way, famously said:
Eh yo man does anyone have some paper with which I could roll this plant matter into a cylindrical vessel?
Ever since this day, the galaxy’s primary social classes have become further and further apart, leading to an insanely profitable small set of corporate overlords. Current President Darnel Simmons has gone missing, and the balance of power is teetering for the first time in almost a hundred years. As part of a band of smugglers aboard a rickety nuclear-powered starship, an unbelievable mystery unfolds.

Levi Chronicles
Having been a part of the testing process from some of the first test runs to today, i can say it has been a fun and inspiring experience seeing the game progress to its current form.
The aesthetic of the game fits well with the theme, the puzzles are just the right level of difficulty and we’ve laughed many times frantically trying to work them out during the test runs. I am eager to see how the future of this game’s story pans out and completes.

Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues
It sure is nice to have a new beat em up to play. They don’t make too many of these anymore. I particularly like the tie in to the excellent Cobra Kai netflix series. Unlike the show, don’t expect this to have any good writing (save for the genuinely funny one liners that the characters have after winning a fight). This is purely a fighting game, one that is clearly a loving homage specifically to the Streets of Rage series. It’s both better and worse than Streets of Rage 4, which I’ll get in to later. Everyone you run across in the street from hippies to mothers to emo kids are all inexplicably out for your blood, which is funny in its own regard. Sometimes characters will provide humorous meta commentary on this. Every character of note in the netflix series is either playable or is a boss in some level. Cobra Kai has fire powers while Miyagi Do has ice powers. Tone wise, it’s far more light and irreverent than the show; it does not take itself seriously in the slightest. Some might find this off-putting, but subjectively this works quite well.

Loved the Karate Kid movies when I was young, I did not really follow the Cobra Kai series but I’m guessing it’s as cheesy as the movies, if not more. There is no lack of cheesiness in this game, that’s for sure.
Beat ‘em Up games also give me those nostalgic feelings of back in the day when I used to play games like; Golden Axe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV, Fighting Force, Double Dragon and Streets Of Rage to name a few.
Graphically, I can’t say the game is gorgeous but it also didn’t really bother me that much. It actually made me think of another Beat ‘Em up “Double Dragon Neon” , a game which I couldn’t get into.
