Division of Labour

Division of Labour

In Division of Labour, the player takes on the role of The Manager in a developing nation called Auriverde during a world ecological collapse.

The player manages the workforce and machinery of a factory, fulfilling contracts and earning profits for the Overseer Corp. Buying resources, manufacturing goods, managing the workers and facing moral and ethical decisions are the core of the game.

Compassion

The player has the option to make their workers more comfortable to improve efficiency, or pay them more to increase worker happiness. Events may occur where the player can do a favour for a worker, give time off for a holiday or generally try to help them.

Exploitation

However, Overseer Corp always demands larger and larger profits, and so balancing these becomes the core of the game. To make greater and greater profits, more sacrifices will need to be made and corners will need to be cut.

Storytelling

Along the way, the player will be presented with moral and ethical decisions regarding their works and the world at large. Whether it’s simply a worker who needs time of for medical reasons or an earthquake on the other side of the world sending migrants flocking to Auriverde for work and security, there’s always decisions to make.

A god game where you not only build settlements, but compete with other gods for influence. In Fata Deum, the more followers you have, the more power you wield.

Manage your mana to manipulate your settlements, devotees and the fabric of reality itself. As you amass more power, you’ll be able to pick more unearthly feats to wield.

Convince or conquer

During the day, use your influence on the mortals. Will you bless and inspire them onto good work, or strike fear into their hearts with terrifying visions? But be wary, the townsfolk have their own free will.

At night, you can manipulate settlements. Instruct the mortals to build you mighty temples for worship, farms and lumber mills so that they may prosper, or even to ruin other villages.

Frighten or foster

Perhaps you’d like to be a tyrant, ruling over a kingdom of debauchery and blood. Raise an army and sacrifice your mortals to summon terrifying demons. Your choice.

Or maybe you do believe in fun, festivities and spreading the love, but have no qualms weakening your enemies by spreading fear - or just hitting them with a Thunderstrike.

Shape a living world

As your influence grows, the living world will shape around it, getting ever more vast. Each god manifests their kingdom differently.

Will yours be a kingdom of crops and light, or twisted trees and glowering darkness? You’ll battle gods of Violence, Deceit, Fertility and Pleasure.

UI has an unusal design to help increase the options for the massive number-growth generator applications that all idle-clickers are.

The demand for input from you as a player feels obstructive at a fair bit of time and the techs that allow you to automate yourself away are not clearly advertised with the tech tree being ‘shrouded’. This can add some frustration.

There is little else to add, the combat is mostly for show - my own ‘35K force’ tank brigade does not take any damage at all anymore when facing supposedly superior forces and development of my faction has pretty much gone to a standstill for the past 5 hours while I’m tabbed out letting the auto-combat handle conquering everything.

This is a ‘yes, but’ review, so. If you’re skimming, pass this one up. If you’re interested in details on why this MIGHT be for you, read on.

So. This is one of those compelling semi-idle games where you fundamentally click things on spreadsheets to make the numbers go up until you literally take over the world. And that’s pretty fun! However.

For the random store browser, there’s not much more to it than that, and I think there’s a lot of room to be disappointed with your purchase.

For people who enjoy the semi-idle thing…?

Future Fortune

Should you be able to retroactively increase the rarity of your boosters? Yes. Does that make the game RNG? No, not really. This game is simple, fun, and intuitive and does not play even remotely similarly to Adventure Capitalist other than they are both clicker games. Everyone who is salty about this game either has no patience or no sense for numbers, as the game is easy and picks up the pace very quickly. Is the game a masterpiece….well, no. But it does what it sets out to do.

It’s a decent idler. Been at it a few days, running on the secondary monitor as an occasional distraction.

Good stuff:

  • You start off fully manual on all of your activities. Then you earn points to automate those clicks so it becomes more idle.

  • Pace of earning points to increase your resources and automation seem steady and good.

  • So far, no walls hit or problems. Just spend your points wisely where they will have the greatest impact on how you want to play.

  • Left it running overnight 24x7 for 4 days without a bug or crash.

The Last Taxi

The Last Taxi

When a fatally wounded member of an anti-technology cult leaves you with what appears to be an undocumented infant, you’re thrust into a dark network of secrets – unravelling a conspiracy that could shake Progress Point to its core.

The Last Taxi is a narrative-driven adventure game set in Progress Point, a politically and economically-divided sprawling metropolis that has fully embraced automation and human modification, creating a satirical and somberly-surreal vision of the future.

As the last human driver, you’ll meet a diverse cast of passengers, each with their own tailored conversations. Be drawn into morally challenging decisions that lead you into the heart of a dying society.

Narrative Gameplay:

As a taxi driver, your job is to keep passengers comfortable, happy and generous.

Or not?

How you interact with passengers is up to you! With varied dialogue choices and multiple endings, you can choose to keep the tips rolling in or spend all your time insulting them.

But keep in mind, gaining their trust and listening to their problems is a lucrative side business. As per Progress Point’s governmental regulations, all taxis are fitted with sleek, handy, and mandatory listening devices – for uhh… quality assurance.

If your passenger expresses something that isn’t quite above board, you can quietly report it to the authorities for some side cash. Choosing to let some shady business go unnoticed does have its perks, though. And with over 80 diverse characters to chat with, you’ll see all kinds traveling the city.

The World:

In the future, you got what you asked for – Flying cars! Unlimited time for hobbies! And the ultimate hybridization of human and machine! Or was it just flying cars you wanted…

Regardless, life in Progress Point is going pretty great. As the only standing city, we survived environmental and economic collapse because no one from the past changed their small, but destructive habits.

Status quo reigned and we’re the societal afterbirth, filled with various factions that believe in one kooky thing or another, like free will.

Oh, but that makes it sound so bleak. Really, there is a bright side.

No one needs to work anymore! The brunt of the workforce has been given to automatons …Well, unless you personally didn’t harbor a vault of cash before the collapse. If you’re one of the unlucky ones, you’ll still need to find some way to make an income, pay the bills, and find your niche in a world run by automation. As a human, you’ll just have to be creative and think outside the processor.

Features:

• Earn tips by navigating through 80 treacherous, quirky, and haunting choice-driven passenger conversations.

• Aid and abet criminal passengers, help them reconsider their actions, or report them to the authorities.

• Upgrade your taxi with new tools allowing for hijacking cargo, hacking toll booths, enhanced customer experience and more!

• Maximize fares by managing malfunctioning equipment, avoiding environmental hazards, and keeping your passengers comfortable.

• Experience a rich and detailed world of technological headquarters, mountaintop temples, sunken metropolises and pirate-infested underworlds.

• 10 hours of gameplay with 20+ unique choice-driven endings.

Recipe for Disaster

Recipe for Disaster

The game has been in E.A. for 10 days at the time of writing this review. After completing the campaign, I am sorry to say it’s a thumbs down.

It’s not because of some bugs (like the WASD keys not responding), some weird pathfinding (like your employees using the back door and running all around the building to sweep the front steps) or some data base missmatch (like the patrons who both love pork loin and hate pork loin) but because the core game mechanics are shallow.

In short:

  • The recipe/culinary creation part and the expectation/feedback from patrons is a joke.

Real player with 49.4 hrs in game

I feel like this game is a good precedent of a very shallow Early Access game. I literally played all 5 scenarios and tutorials 3 times including the bonuses. There are many things wrong with the game:

  • Constant UI glitches (like so many)

  • There is only 1 disaster that happens 2-4 times a day (fire)

  • AI is too basic

  • UI/UX overall is terrible (when viewing menu there is always a window that you cannot close on the right hand side and gets in the way of seeing your full menu/prices). Constant spam of messages in game you cannot turn off to0. I don’t want to know if Osama is making bad food every single time.
