Burrow

Burrow

Burrow is an ever-expanding sandbox style game where you can explore, create, and share small levels (called… burrows)

Creation is a core concept of Burrow, all of the level creation tools are packaged with the game and are designed with simplicity in mind. Hundreds of props, simple terrain deformation tools, and built-in LUA scripting makes designing your own worlds a breeze.

VR and Desktop players are both welcome! Oh yeah, and we’ve got multiplayer too! Cross platform play is supported. You can play alone, or with your friends, no matter if they’re on VR or Desktop.

I enjoyed the team dynamics and fun characters. I really liked having to figure out how to work together to advance in the game.

Dungeon Defenders II

Dungeon Defenders II

I tried. I really, really tried.

Ever since I bought this game in 2014, I continued to throw my time and genuine effort at it, hoping to get at the very least a decent sequel to DD1. I even ignored the very clear warning sign that was the release of DD Eternity (DD1 was abandoned to hackers, then repacked and…sold again under a new name, wham, bam, profit). Today, with the game about ready to leave yet another developement stage, instead of having hope and tons of fun playing the game, I am disgusted and bitterly dissapointed.

Don’t bother with Dungeon Defenders 2 or Trendy Entertainment. Their incessant greed has instilled levels of disgust in me that I scarcely could previously fathom.

For a bit of background, allow me to preface this by telling you that I hold no nostalgia for the original Dungeon Defenders. This is a combination of their lack of security leading to rampant hackers and my disdain for the original character styles. I played this game a bit when it first came out, and dropped in now and again to see how it was doing. My tenure here became permanent with the Terraria crossover content, and I’ve remained fairly steady to the game since. I’ve done some Mastery, climbed up Onslaught, and dabbled in Ancient Power Resets. I’ve seen a lot of what there is to see, and let me tell you, originally, the allure was the cartoony, bright graphics and enjoyable combat. However, beneath this veneer of vibrant paint lies a decrepit, hollow experience designed to consume your wallet.

When we were offered this key, we honestly didn’t know what to expect–we’d beaten the heck out of Overcooked and Dungeon Defenders before, and this seemed similar, but we were skeptical.

Welp, WE WERE WRONG.

This game hooked us quick and DIDN’T LET GO–it’s sci-fi a cousin of Overcooked with an emphasis on harvesting and defending, and couples will especially love this one and will probably find it a lot less frustrating than others in the genre. There’s some room for this to grow up, but it’s got more polish than existing games in the genre that have been actively refined for years. Check out the WeHeartCo-op review on YouTube, coming soon!

TLDR: fun game, but if you are unsure check out the DEMO :)

D-corp is a really nice coop tower defense game and it would probably be even better if I had friends to play it with.

While it seems meant to be played locally from your couch with a group of friends it does also support steam remote play and is pretty good to play solo as well (what I mostly did).

Some Pros:

  • Throwing things into pits or acid (including your now ex-friends).

  • Different themed levels, enemies, guns (towers) and elements to make each level feel unique.

A silly and humourous game where you ride a shopping cart with a goat. The premise and gimmick is that you are both screaming while in the cart and this is helps you move and maneuver around. So basically the whole game is filled with shrieking and screaming, which can get annoying after a long time of playing for some after the novelty wears off. But it is still quite funny for the most part. There are plenty of stages and obstacles to go through where you earn stars depending on the course, whether it be on speed or collecting objects etc. Some replayability along with it because of the 3 star rating system for the levels so at times you may come back to gain all 3 within the levels that was unable to achieve prior. The difficulty of the game is also good with the stages becoming more elaborate and complicated as it progress. More various and difficult obstacles that come up. Moving around in the cart is also quite fun as you jump over gaps, drift and zig zag around. There are also collectables to be had, for example you can gain headwear that can be equipped as you pass through levels and gain them, which is neat. Along with the singleplayer mode, there is also a co op mode as well as a party pvp mode where you can vs other friends in various events. So these do add some extra element of fun where you can play this rowdy game with others.

  • When you start the game, the training section welcomes you and the training easily teaches you everything you need to know.

  • The graphic designs of the game belong to a full RPG world. The dark and jagged designs of the dungeons make you feel like you are on a real battlefield.

  • One of my favorite features of the game is that there are parry, block and Dodge mechanics in the game. It literally immerses you in the action. These are indispensable features for the rpg world.

After playing for around 5 hours (multiple playthroughs) I’ve gathered some thoughts.

It’s an okayish game right now. It needs more content and a good amount of polish but I’ve encountered no bugs that made it impossible to play. Also I’m giving a positive review because I like the concept and I hope, that there is more to come (more enemies, different locations, and I am especially looking at you Roguelike-mode!)

I hope to come back to this game and find a solid and polished game but for now, here are some things that I would change or improve a little bit and some bugs I’ve encountered.

Brawling with enemies obviously means epic boss fights that will make you sweat.
