Tomato Way 3

Tomato Way 3

I was kindly gifted this game by the developer while streaming on twitch.

i went into this game with an open mind and it began with a few “huh?” moments but ya know what? This is truly a great game. The characters are crazy, the world is crazy. its awesome.

It does have a few issues here and there but what game doesn’t when its just been released?

Honestly give this game a shot you’ll love it. Can’t wait for the next one.

I only just had the pleasure of playing Tomato Way 3 after finally upgrading to an RTX 3090. The story is now complete.

  • A throwback to the roots of Tomato Way 1 as a first person shooter

  • Some interesting interactive cutscenes and unique boss encounters

  • Runs at a solid 40fps

  • Creative and engaging storytelling left me impaled on my bicycle seatpost

  • 100% genuine dogmeat

  • Thank you for the memories, Vlad

It has been a pleasure, Tomate.

Tomato Way. It is the only way.

My full playthrough is here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GB9VkOjgjQA

I am giving a thumbs up for the effort. Out of the huge amount of really bad scary games out there, and the tons of games that just flip the same assets over and over; White Vortex does “try” to make a good game. It has some scares and the graphics are good. Yet, I can’t say it is all that original in terms of find a LOT of keys and read a LOT of notes in the dark.

In terms of game stability. BUGS BUGS BUG CRASHES AND BUGS! There are a bunch. I have an unedited playthrough here for reference. I had so many problems toward the end I was raging.

This game is the embodiment of cheap indie horror. Here you are presented with poor visuals, clumsy controls, generic sound effects and music, terrible voice acting, stupid jump scares that often are out of place, annoying chase sequences and the story that is so stupid, bland and banal that it makes one constantly facepalm.

Some effort was definitely put into this amateur project. Unfortunately, the result of this effort is atrocious like in the case of many other indie horror games of similar nature. Should be free to play.

Lockheart Indigo

Lockheart Indigo

Lockheart Indigo was a short but fulfilling experience, with all of its parts forming a cohesive whole. The art, the music, the characters and the gameplay all fit together seamlessly to tell an exciting story.

It offers a unique system where, instead of battling your enemies in combat, you have to win them over with clever persuasion. And it’s clear the developer took a lot of time in crafting the various responses to show each character’s unique personality and motives.

I definitely recommend this game, it was a joy to play and a great homage to the Game Boy era from which it took its inspiration.

About 2-3 hour long detective game where the combat is replaced with interrogation, it’s kinda like playing Undertale and only using the dialogue choices (no bullet-hell though). Whenever you need to get information from the character you have to find a way to probe them by using evidence and their motivations against them. The story was decent enough for me to finish the game, but I was a bit disappointed with the illusion of choices as the game is pretty linear overall. You can use F4 to set the game to fullscreen, however, it does not have a widescreen so you will be playing with black borders. Even though the game is relatively polished and resistant to stupid choices, there are some potential softlocks due to the enemy AI, you should keep 2-3 save slots 30 minutes apart just in case (I wasted like 40 minutes because one of the quest items became inaccessible).

Today Is My Birthday

Today Is My Birthday

I’ve decided to be nice and hold to my original plan of changing my previous negative review to a positive one if the developers held true to their word and repaired the late game bug that rendered the game unable to be completed, which, as of today, they have done. I just did a quick test and the previously inoperable switch in Chapter 3 is now functional. The oddly long load times after dying and on initial load-in are still long but seemed to have been improved slightly. Despite the previous issues encountered and a few minor nitpicks that I could still point out, the game is not without it’s own brand of charm. The environments are effectively creepy and fairly well designed. The story is a bit cheesy but was the story really ever the point for a game like this…No, the point of these types of games is to wander around in a dark, creepy, crumbling environment while something sinister and murderous lurks in the shadows, something that could pop up and give chase at any moment. It’s that kind of “constantly unsafe” pressure feeling that made the first Amnesia so great and it’s the overarching point of all games in this walking sim/puzzle/horror/survival type genre. Very few games get that formula right because it’s tricky. For most games the encounters and chase scenes are scripted to certain points, so once the player is aware of where the danger is then the unsafe pressure becomes less effective. If every game could pull it off the way Amnesia did then all would be right with the universe. Regardless, if you’re going to give this a shot then do it while it’s on sale because, unfortunately, it’s just not a $15 game. But if it pops up on sale for 50% off then get a cold beer and some popcorn and have a go at it.

The game has a great level design and good graphics, but it lacks scary moments. Certain mechanics do not work properly. I tried to pick up a flashlight at the start of the game for 5 min…Certain buttons can’t be pressed due to unknown reasons. Have to smash that interact button in order to do anything in the game. Some puzzles are good, but some puzzles are extremely difficult and there is no way for you to find out what you have to do in order to proceed. I had to watch someone’s gameplay in order to solve it.

project BLARI

project BLARI

For a game coded by a single person, Project BLARI is a game that at first, seems to be a simple retro / horror game like any other, but I can tell you it isn’t !

Pros :

  • The Enemies you encounter are easy to predict and counter if you know how to, a brand new player will have some trouble at first but after some playtime, you can basically counter all enemies easily. (this can be a Pro and a Con, depending on personal opinions)

  • The attention to realism is well made ! you can’t just turn your camera and check behind you, your view is represented by Terence ! The LORE of the game only adds up on it, the small details can tell you a lot about the complex story this game has !

very old school game with several routes and endings

but watch out its also creepy and spooky

i love that mechanic of spamming a button to run instead of just pressing it, its kinda more stressful in a way which fits the situation
