Devil May Cry HD Collection

Devil May Cry HD Collection

“I should have been the one to fill your dark soul with LIIIIIIGHT!!!!”

Amazing trilogy, older Action/Hack and Slash games can sometimes feel very clunky and slow in comparison to more recent games however these games hold their own and were definitely revolutionary to the genre for their time.

DMC was very enjoyable, a very solid introduction into the games. The puzzles and boss fights can be quite challenging even if you are playing on standard difficulty or even if this is your first DMC experience (like myself). Exploring the castle was very interesting as every area felt new and different without reprinting the same textures for different areas of the map which is what you tend to see in a lot of the older PS2 Games.

Quick Summary

Devil may Cry 4 (DMC4) is a wonderful addition to the DMC series. Introducing new style switching for Dante, a whole cast of vibrant bosses, a mediocre story,

and a new main character called Nero!

Pros

  • Nero is a really cool character with one hell of an arm!

  • Dante is much more in depth, opening up a wider range of skills and styles

  • Variety of enemies that really stand out visually and physically

Really a big fan of the series, but I’ll try to keep this from influencing this review.

DMC4:SE added three very enjoyable characters, costumes and Legendary Dark knight Mode (Legendary DKM mode is only new for console).

Vergil:

+Moves and skills from DMC3:SE and teleporting trick from DmC are mixed with this character along with moves unrelated.

+Three weapons to choose from- Beowulf, Yamato, Force Edge.

+Concentration gauge. Gauge raised by standing still in combat and making hits, losing gauge by missing and running around.

Most of the negative reviews here are because of technical issues that are solvable on most systems. Fullscreen works by pressing ALT+Enter (maybe not while in the menu or title screen or cutscene, but ingame), widescreen support is available via a hack. On some systems, the resolution may be limited to 640x480 or 800x600, but that is not the normal behaviour. You should get the highest 4:3 resolution closest to your native resolution without a patch. XBox controllers are not officially supported because this game uses directinput for controller support, which is the predecessor to xinput. If you have one of the recent Logitech gamepads (F310 for example), you can choose between directinput and xinput via a hardware switch on the controller, then map the controller keys correctly (setup controller) and the game works out of the box. If you have to use an xbox compatible controller, you have to fiddle around to get the trigger keys working. This is because the trigger keys are analog and on the same axis on the xbox compatible controllers, but are two seperate digital keys on the older standard. Please note that this game was developed before the xbox compatible controllers had been invented! It would have been nice of Capcom to have this version revamped like they did for PS3 and XBox, but they have not. It is not optimized for the PC and it is an old game, but I still think it is awesome.

Want to play DMC3? Get this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/devilmaycry3/mods/1/ ?

It is to DMC3SE what DSfix is to Dark Souls. It fixes the performance, controller and sound issues, making the PC version as solid as its console counterparts.

Not only that, the mod has options for on-the-fly style-switching, weapon-switching for all weapons, Doppelganger and Quicksilver styles for Vergil, Air Hike for every weapon, graphical options, etc. DMC3 now has more moves and twice the number of weapons available at a time than DMC4.

Devil May Cry 5

This game is short, but it’s a gem for sure

between the stylish gameplay that puts all other spectacle fighters to shame, and the variety of really fun characters that are all really fun and compliment a different playstyle, and the… subpar but still really good multiplayer aspect of the some sections of the game (there’s a mod that let’s you use the co-op on all missions btw, see Nexusmods)

Once you finally get good at the game and unlock all of the moves, you can pull off some REALLY stylish combos, even I’ve managed a few

[NINJA GAIDEN: Master Collection] NINJA GAIDEN Σ

At last!

I spent years and years of my life wondering “will Ninja Gaiden ever come to PC?” You see, my last game console was the SNES. My parents couldn’t afford a console. And I wouldn’t dare to ask for one. Given that, I beat Ninja Gaiden on someone else’s original Xbox, back in 2004-05. And I love this game. I’ve always loved. So, it finally coming to PC was a long-awaited bliss.

After 145 hours of gameplay and a platinum, I think I’m in a position where I can throw my two cents in, specially after having platinumed it. In this text, there will be not only opinions on downsides and upsides, but also an opinion about the “fans” and the developers that I wanna scream from the top of my lungs.

PLEASE READ TLDR AT BOTTOM;REVIEW STANCE CHANGED

I played the original “Ninja Gaiden Black”, then played the Sigma versions on PS3, then played Ninja Gaiden Black on Xbox One via Backwards compatibility. THEN I played it on an emulator to try to relive some type of nostalgic memories and realized that the game held up really well especially since it was running on something that wasn’t even supported by the developers. I then waited for years for news to break on whether or not this game would get released on PC since I was finally able to afford to build one and play games in the best quality possible. I always told myself that “Yeah I love Ninja Gaiden so much, I’ve bought the games like 3 different times, but if it were to ever come out on Steam, I’d buy it for 60 dollars all over again.” As crazy and devoted as it sounds, I just enjoyed the game for so long that it just made sense to have it in my steam collection. We’re now on the day that it finally came out, what’s essentially considered a “rapture” day for me since I never truly thought it would actually happen, only to be disappointed.

The Witch & The 66 Mushrooms

The Witch & The 66 Mushrooms

This is a cute short metroidvania with a lot of fairy tale influence in the story and bosses. The world is pretty small, but it’s dense with upgrades and collectibles, so it feels a bit larger than it otherwise would.

You start with a double jump, and a healing ability (check your pause menu for more information). The metroidvania locks are various weapons which can destroy certain crystals and unlock passages, a few items that open up more of the map, a cat form that lets you go into narrow passages, and gems/orbs late game that open the way into the final area.

Real player with 10.8 hrs in game

As the first game i ever played developed on this Pixel Game Maker MV software, i got to say, it’s pretty ambitious to develop a small sized metroidvania title, but even then it has its shortcomings, particularly small things than end up mattering on the whole gameplay experience, for starters, while the controllers seem decent enough, there’s some minor decisions like running while holding the attack button as if this was a game developed for a game system with very few buttons, when in reality you could easily fix this by making just tapping the same direction twice like Castlevania Circle of The Moon, furthermore, the difference in movement and speed between walking and dashing could be a bit more notorious.

Good ass game. SUCH responsive controls. If there are more games out there with such smooth and responsive combat, I’d like to know which ones! I wish the cutscenes were easier to skip, but that is my ONLY complaint.

Skatemasta Tcheco

Skatemasta Tcheco

There’s nothing too complicated to write or understand about Skatemasta Tcheco. It’s simple, easy, and quick pick up and play auto-scrolling platforming that will test your reaction speed and muscle memory in the same way that the games that inspired it did.

Bottom line: This is a game I’d have happily paid $8-10 for.

Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio

Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio

Yesterday I was talking to my girlfriend about the time when someone decided to make a small documentary and make the world aware that the Galvão birds were in the verge of extinction. Any Brazilian knew from the first second it was a hoax, a prank to turn offenses against a soccer commentator into a trending topic on Twitter. The truth eventually came out, but one question still remains: why would anyone spend a lot of time to make a professional documentary for no other reason than fooling people with an innocent joke? And why does it sound so reasonable for any Brazilian to do so?

Real player with 5.9 hrs in game

For the average person, this is a bad game. The main character’s art has the ugliest drawing of facial hair ever. Lucio seems to be a pedophile version of Chad Thundercock based on the opening image, but most people will never face him. This game starts out feeling tough but manageable. But it keeps going on and damage gets to a default two points rather than just one on literally everything, which is terrible. You can have health beyond the limit shown and there is a cheat code to start with 30 health, but even with that cheat, I don’t think 90% of people can beat this game.
