The Island

The Island

Beautiful amazing game and although I haven’t really been all that into survival games before, this one caught my eye and I’ve been hooked since. I love it and definitely recommended to those who enjoy games of this kind.

As the story apparently goes, you take the role of a young woman who was sailing in her boat but lost control and crash landed on a beach of an uncharted island. When you come to, you feel thirsty, hungry, and are all but lost in your new surroundings.

The only things you start with are some cookies, a few cans of soda, your trusty survival book, and a knife. After that you’re on your own. Prowling wild animals being your only neighbors, some of which don’t take too kindly to your presence… (they will attack you if they see you). And at that point you either make them your next source of food, or, well… you become theirs.

OK, first and foremost, totally worth it for the price. Graphics are excellent. Very playable on Easy. It has a way to go in development, but 5 bucks for a game that you can easily pass 5 hours in is worth it. Crafting system is fun enough, (if it lets you click on the item in the guide book, click it, that’s how you make it. Otherwise just put the appropriate amount of ingredients in your inventory and craft.) Clay in in the inland lakes and rivers. Iron and Sulfur don’t show up in incremental bits, you get nothing until you’ve whacked it a bunch. All of the animals take about the same number of hits, you don’t really need to avoid any of them. Go back to the starting area for soda and crackers, they respawn. There is a wood and stick grind that cold be improved in the mid game. I am interested to see where this goes. Oh, you have to forgive the animal variety on desert island, they wouldn’t all live there but what the hell, they work out to meat and leather.

GEM-ALERT!

just bought it and played 7 hrs straight (with many more to come)

if you like games like “Crashlands” then this is the right one…

a bit more “pixaleted”, a bit more EA (but with awesome updates so far as far as I can say that because of the 2 patch-logs i saw so far)

BUT THIS IS SERIOUS FUN FFS!

Combat can be tricky, you need to kite like hell or you die, but again, if you liked something like “Crashlands”, youre used to the fact that this is a core gameplay mechanic (and it woudn´t be very fun otherwise)

Moses: from Egypt to the promised land is a first person adventure game inspired by one of the most amazing stories in human history from the Old Testament. In the game, we play the role of Moses, the holy prophet, the leader of the Israelites during their departure from Egypt and their journey to the Promised Land.

The goal of the game is first to free the Israelites from the tyranny of the Egyptians, and then lead them to the promised land and defend them against the Egyptian army. In the game, we will have to sabotage the actions of the Egyptians so that we can save as many of our countrymen as possible. For this, we will have to use both earthly methods and the powers received from God.

An important aspect of the game is raising the “morale” of the Israelites and lowering the “morale” of the Egyptians. To do this, we will move through the territory of ancient Egypt, find oppressed compatriots, and help them in various ways. We will have to find food to feed the hungry, we will free those locked in cages, we will bring medicines for the sick, and we will also fight to protect the weak.

In the game, we will unlock powers received from God with time, the main of which is the ability to plague Egypt so that the morale of Egyptians will drop to such a level that we can bring out oppressed Israelites. We will have at our disposal all 10 plagues that appeared in the Bible: the transformation of the waters of the Nile and all the waters of Egypt into blood, frogs, lice, flies, the plague of cattle, ulcers, hail, locusts, darkness, and the death of the firstborn.

Another aspect of the game will be to lead the Egyptians to the promised land and save them from the approaching army. We will have to carry out a series of tasks that will enable us to forge a board with the 10 Commandments to gather enough power to perform the miracle of the fragmentation of the sea, which will be the only salvation for the fleeing Israelites people.

Game features:

  • first-person view

  • exploration of the open world

  • hunting for animals

  • crafting

  • using divine powers

Overview

Youropa is a 3D puzzle game where you must defy the laws of gravity to reach your goal. Walking on walls, upside down, on your side, at ridiculous heights, will have your senses mixed up and confused. On a few occasions I had to stop playing the game because I felt a bit sick. The game really portrays a sense of height as you walk around on ledges and walls looking down at the scenery below.

Second Update

I’d like to keep the original review in tact so future viewers can see the full context and timeline of the events that took place. To summarize, the developer saw my review and responded with patches much faster than I would have ever expected. In the comments I called the response unprecedented, and I’ll echo that here.

When I review a game I’m never going in to that with the hope of punishing the dev or game. In my opinion, the absolute best outcome one could hope for is for them to care and respond positively to criticism which happened here.

Mutiny Island

Mutiny Island

This game could be so much better. I have warped to grey screen death countless times. I camped while being attacked by a skeleton, woke up on Davy Jones' ship surrounded by the undead, and glitched to the starting warp. Jumped through many stone walls diagonally, and fought tigers from vantage point because of it. In my short time with this piece i have seen so many classic mishaps that that in itself is making me appreciate it more.

It’s $8, buggy as hell and absolutely wonderful.

Captain Bones: Prologue

Captain Bones: Prologue

The Ambience alone is worth downloading this game. It sounds very calming and if you love the ocean you will like this game. There isn’t much going on in this game yet, but somehow it doesn’t suffer from that. If you need explosions and constant gun fighting, then you probably won’t look twice at downloading this as it isn’t for you. If you want a lite island exploration game that is also about crafting and fighting off sharks while diving for treasure, and you don’t want to pay for it, then this IS for you.

Real player with 7.7 hrs in game

The prologue appears to be the same as the demo, which I’ve played for about 3.5 hours. It’s definitely a fun prologue, though there isn’t a ton to do outside of the story. There are some chests to find and loot, but ultimately, there isn’t anything worth buying with your booty. There is a scrap merchant who sells ship parts, but no ships that you can repair/build outside of the raft, which degrades quickly. Having a couple islands to sail to and a ship would go a long way, though I suspect that will be a motivation to buy the full game.
