Stray

Stray

Lost, alone, and separated from family, a stray cat must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten city.

Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly. Roam surroundings high and low, defend against unforeseen threats and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by nothing but unassuming droids and dangerous creatures.

See the world through the eyes of a stray and interact with the environment in playful ways. Be stealthy, nimble, silly, and sometimes as annoying as possible with the strange inhabitants of this foreign world.

SLASH OF BULLET

SLASH OF BULLET

Gameplay:

+It is fun and looks very cool slashing stuff with your blade.

+There are a lot of skills to try and certain combinations give you a unique looking blade.

-There is only one stage and 3 difficulty settings. The first 2 are not really worth playing more than once, since your slashes have auto-aim and you have limited skill selection.

Controls:

-The slashing feels odd. You slice with your sword and when you stop the energy slash comes out. So to be accurate you swing your sword and then point at the enemy you want to hit. This is not very intuitive. If you were to properly do a swing from top down your slash would fire into the ground.

Very close call for me on whether to at least give this a neutral recommendation, but honestly, it just isn’t good enough especially at the listed price of $10 USD. I think this game wants to be a Space Pirate Trainer 2.0, except it’s more like version -2.0. This is a stripped down, bare-bone version with some cool ideas.

The first problem is that there is only one map as far as I can tell. Admittedly, I did not play this game for very long (less than 30 minutes). However, I did complete the game on normal and got to #5 on the leaderboard. I also unlocked the Pro level, but for whatever reason, it didn’t work. I was stuck in the menu area of this game and I had to force quit.

Beautiful game with narration

The art, music, and voice acting in this game is very nice. I enjoyed the story, the way it unfolds is enjoyable. The concept could have been fleshed out a bit more.

The USD $10 price tag is a bit steep for some people, considering the length of the VN. If you can catch it on sale, go ahead. You will enjoy it over a cup of coffee.

A very short interactive story featuring soothing narration and top-notch voice acting.

Game’s premise:

_**The game is set on lunar base, now that the life on earth has ceased its existence.

You wake up at the sound a soothing voice. Rick is standing in front of you while stating that the Christmas day has come.

With the reassuring company offered by Rick and your cat Elec, you live through your daily slow-paced routine.**_

Featurings:

This game does offer an interactive story to experience in a form quite comparable to reading an actual book, with the addition of Japanese voice acting.

Vermitron

Vermitron

Very cutesy action game with old school art. If you are up for a retro adventure and like exploration, give it a go!

It doesn’t look that challenging, but it’s not easy. Also, there are some mechanics I didn’t get at first, but you learn as you progress more in the game.

TL;DR: Give Vermitron a shot.

When most people think of twin-stick shooters, they think of raw micro mechanics. Disciplined aiming, shooting, and dodging, instead of careful, methodical thinking. Tibor Fobel embraces the later, fabricating a retro and tower defense hybrid. The result: a solid, old-school action game that deserves more attention.

Vermitron follows an intrepid astronaut, defending an endangered flower from invading insects. Player’s progress level-to-level, descending further into an infested base. Winning a floor is simple: blossom your flower by collecting three watering cans. However, hungry pests will be squirming to your base, so you’ll have to defend your plant along the way. Slaughtering worms and flies is easy. The trouble comes when picking up a watering can, which spawns a wave of insects. You also become slower, barely moving faster than a grub. Without a base defended by armed towers, your flower will be easy pickings as you travel back.
