Cat and Ghostly Road

Cat and Ghostly Road

A beautiful game about a brave soul who will fight everything and overcome any obstacle for a loved one.

A cat named Yang is a character which keeps your heart in his soft white paws til the end of the game. The amount of charm he has is astonishing, Yang is polite, optimistic and admirable, and following his adventure was a very pleasant experience. Visuals are very charming, and locations are changing at just the right pace to keep player awed, but not bored. Puzzles are getting more complicated to the end, but the logic is very clear, so no need for tiringly combining everything and everyone, which is a common downside for many adventure games. Cat and Ghostly Road is light and beautiful experience, full of care and kindness, it was a pleasure to play!

Cat and Ghostly road is a stunning point & click title with gorgeous art and a symbolic story. However, it isn’t without its shortcomings and includes tedious title screens as well as frustrating camera angles throughout the game. Yet, overall, I enjoyed my experience and would recommend to other avid P&C Indie enthusiasts.

Pros

  • Gorgeous, vibrant artwork.

  • Various scenes across different landscapes

  • Steam achievements.

  • ‘Cat vision’ which allowed players to see demons.

  • Symbolic story.

12 Labours of Hercules VIII: How I Met Megara

12 Labours of Hercules VIII: How I Met Megara

The quality of Hercules shines through again! Another excellent installment of the Greatest

Time-Management series ever. They’ve managed to move past 6-7 and back to the roots of 3-5 :), while still keeping it fresh, fun and creative. However, some of these levels are the fastest most frenetic I’ve played ;) My head was spinning haha.

Overall, they’ve accomplished a fun, new direction for the series… Genius, pure Genius !!

After recently playing through this again I rank it #2 in the series behind 5. The depth of the strategy is amazing. When you lock onto how each level is meant to be played it’s like Neo in The Matrix fighting Smith at the end… you lose yourself in the binary code flowing around you ;)

Another great Hercules game. I have every version from the very beginning. The game continues to add small new things to make it interesting. The toughest part of the game is the Developers rounds but at least you only have to do 20 out of the 40 available maps.

I definitely recommend this game for any fan of the Hercules series.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin

Came here as a gamer… left as a professional rice farmer degree

The realistic, in depth elements of rice farming combined with honing fighting skills plus surprising character revelations and development make Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin a magnificent game. Beside its beautiful story‚ Sakuna’s personal growth is a pleasure to watch. Her reason for living is tested to the limit. The balanced emphasis on farming and fighting provides a great variety of tasks to undertake, providing dozens of hours of fun.

I’ll leave a TLDR at the bottom.

I was hesitant yet curious coming into Sakuna. A game that’s half side-scroller beat’m up, and half in-depth rice farming is something unique and interesting to me.

We are introduced to Sakuna, a daughter of harvest goddesss Toyohana and war god Takeribi. Sakuna is a goddess who resides in the capital indulging herself on all sorts of expensive luxuries until one day she meets a certain group of humans and gets involved in an unfortunate event that has her and the group exiled to an isle of demons called Hinoe. It is on this isle that Sakuna will grow rice, hunt demons, and come to learn more about the humans that were exiled along with her.

Really fun game to play especially during quarantine as its overall mood is really upbeat in these hard times. Only negative is it can get confusing during your first playthrough but not confusing to the point it feels impossible to complete without a guide (looking at you half life). Overall fun game with mechanics that surprised me, highly suggest playing it but make sure you have the time.

*Even though I had received a copy early, my opinions here are completely unbiased.

Great game for anyone, an excellent introduction to the genres of sylvie-game and 10-minute-game, and a short sweet and cute experience for existing fans. If you must close the game you will start over from the beginning, so try to set aside a little more than 10 minutes for your playthrough in case you want to take your time and admire this gentle world. It’s hard to say too much without giving away any of the delightful moments you will encounter in these 10 minutes of game, so give it a try!
