Dealer’s Life

Dealer’s Life

I love this game! I have had it since it launched on the play store for mobile devices.

I like how I can play it in a windowed tab and often play while watching tv on my laptop.

I wish the game offered more things such as leaderboards so you can see how you compare to other players. I have beat the game a few times with 24 weeks been the fastest to complete. and was wondering how that compares to other players.

Other things I think that would be cool would be head to head competitions where you have 15-30 minutes to try and have more money at the end than your competitior. It would help make the game interesting for me again.

The Game:

This is basically the buy and sell portion of Recettear with a bit more depth added. You can add stats to yourself to be able to:

• Know the value of items

• Charm customers

• Read the customers' level of greed, desire for the item, and their patience for negotiations

You can hire people for your shop as well who will add a little to those stats, and who can also restore broken items, or authenticate them, or even create counterfeits.

Pros:

  • Fun and addictive if you enjoy buy and sell games where you are the merchant (I love this type of game)

Great little game. Not so complex you really have to concentrate hard but fun. Some of the dialogue and missions are very funny.

Merchant of the Skies

Merchant of the Skies

First of all, let me say that this game is a great-looking interesting bite-sized experience. If you are looking for TTD in clouds, this is not that game. It’s a “tycoon” in a very shallow sense of the word. In fact, it’s incredibly hard to describe this game with nowadays expectations other than a “trading game”.

It will not have you coming back to replay again and again, but it will captivate you for a session or two. It’s like a great meal at that new place you are trying out. You wouldn’t necessarily keep ordering it again, but you do not regret the experience. I bring up a lot of mixed points below, but keep in mind that it’s all still held together impressively solidly and does not break apart.

A niche merchant game with the challenges of completing tasks and finishing five ultimate goals to complete the game. The story is about a you, a merchant who follows requests from an uncle and various other characters, using a airship. Different to the usual games I regularly play, but I love it for the fantasy elements and challenges.

The story is odd in a way where it has five main goals, the last one is the restoration of the botanical garden, while the rest are more like side-quests in this adventure world. How you adventure is by flying an airship across to floating islands, you examine the different tasks, refuel, and can buy or sell items. I really like this due to my obsession with steampunk themes, the fantasy world which is floating while working, as though it is a job. Additionally, you get to know the world a little, like the uncle and a couple of characters that want to go to tourist places, but not as in depth in the case of getting to know your crew. It is a single player game, but it is how you want to play, making profit and buying islands in order to fulfil requests and keep your business a float. As for the art, I love it, pixel art can be simple but make so much detail, and with that sort of colour palate, it is up my street. The little wacky details like the singing carrot, the octopus that has a rapper hat on, all of it adds to the personality of the game. You can upgrade your ship too, making it easier to travel and transport cargo, which is helpful to complete more side-quests to bring in the profit. If you cannot gain profit because of your output on workers and fuel, then the bank will pay you off once, then you are in dept, you will need to pay off the bank or go bankrupt. An interesting way of teaching people about the real world and dept, but it forces you to do some unplanned action by juggling the main story to side-quests, making it challenging.

Fantastic game! If you like lite sims, then this is your game.

It’s got a very detail orientated design for a game as lite as it is, its mechanics are nuanced and unique.

I strongly advise this game to anybody who is a fan of unique sims.

It has a bit of a learning curve, but never fear, its worth it!

Barn Finders

Barn Finders

I do recommend the main game, just not the DLC at this point (Sep 22, 2021) since it is pretty buggy.

(They did releases an update 12 Aug 2021 though but not everything is fixed)

The main game is not perfect, but it is fun, IMHO. I enjoy the auctions, and the selling, tending the place. I’ve been playing recently but in total I have about 62 hours of game play. I try to always haggle to make more but you’ve gotta be quick with the button.

It shows icons for who is at your homestead during sales (top left) and I’ve seen a glitch with it but usually it’s accurate. You can move things from one shelf to another if one empties and the other has a few more things. You can customize the place and truck (but make sure you can afford it. I’ve saved most of that for when I’d already had enough for the trips and auctions) I still have things I can change :)

Many people already claim that simulators has become an exhausted genre of games. I do not think so… and Playway, the ultimate simulator king, has a different opinion as well. In their newest title, Barn Finders, you take the role of a redneck shopkeeper who, along with Uncle Billy, runs a store selling antiquities (or old junk, depends on the point of view). In the game, you scavenge through old (surprise, surprise) barns or similar locations, participate in auctions, bid wars, or even meet aliens. Combine it with cheesy (yet witty) humor, and you have a perfect game for long and casual evenings.

My Universe - Fashion Boutique

My Universe - Fashion Boutique

Considering there isn’t a lot of fashion games like this available, I was really excited to play this one, but unfortunately, I was disappointed.

The game play I did get to enjoy was fun, but the constant crashes make the game completely unplayable anymore. At first I had few issues, but once I started progressing, the game started consistently freezing or crashing entirely, making me lose all the clothes and orders I had made/fulfilled since the game so rarely saves. It’s really not worth remaking all the clothes every other day. Once I completed the third fashion show, my avatar completely disappeared and I had to abandon all my progress. I really tried to keep playing it, but I can’t anymore.

Poverty is a Choice

Poverty is a Choice

Has more stock options than most other serious trading simulators!! WHAAAAT?!

Real player with 11.9 hrs in game

Now I went into Poverty is a Choice blind, and what I found was a hardcore stock trading sim covered in edgy wrapping. Oh yeah, I like it. Y’all know I’ve been on a crusade to find a modern Drug Wars here on Steam, and while this isn’t exactly that, it’s both close yet different enough to totally be it’s own thing. Yes, you buy-low-sell-high, but things take a more orthodox direction here with traditional stock trading.

Again, there is a lot of dark humor thrown in to lighten things up, but at the end of the day you will be gathering all the information you can to make sure you earn money each day to support your lifestyle, and even hopefully make it better. There are a great number of various upgrades you can get to help you out. Too many to go into here, but they almost all seem functional (I’ve tried a good number of them). I even had a pen and paper handy to take notes. Yeah, it gets pretty serious.
