The Spell - A Kinetic Novel
This is a cleverly written and thoroughly engaging kinetic novel.
Shifting perspectives, characters with depth, unexpected yet plausible plot twists - this story has it all. Throw in some charming artwork and atmosphere-befitting music, and you’ve got yourself a sweet little package which should take around 8-10 hours to get through (I’m a slow reader).
Some content may trigger - refer to the store page. Apart from that warning, I highly recommend it - 1.625 thumbs.

I really enjoyed the story. It did let me flip flop every now and then with my guess how it would end. I didn’t expect this ending though.
Full disclosure: I sadly am a pretty lazy reader (i only read about 3 - 4 VN at this point and i am pretty bad with books too) but this story made me curious to follow through - and that’s not easy to achieve.
The beginning felt dragging when i started but knowing that it wouldn’t be a long read for others i kept going. After the first 3-4(?) in-game days i realised that it all was necessary to build a good foundation for about the rest of the story.

Bayou Island - Point and Click Adventure
Good production values, but way too short, and ending is too rushed
Now, I was pleasantly surprised with this game’s graphics, sound and music - they are of quite high quality, especially the backdrops and music, which were both very nice, and fit each other very well. All dialogues are also fully voiced (with the exception of a few here ‘n’ there - not sure if that’s due to a bug causing the sound to not activate, or whether the developer just didn’t insert audio files for those particular sentences, for whatever reason), including your character’s commentary on every single interactive item.

No boats were harmed in the making of this review.
Story
You play a cruise ship captain named Chris that somehow arrived at this mysterious island. How did you get here? Where is your boat? Explore to find various odd ball characters and items to find out.
As you talk to the other residents, learning that this island is named Bayou Island, you learn what goes on in the first area. Everyone here seemed to have washed up on the shore not knowing how they could of. There is also a correlation with boats disappearing as well. However Chris is a different story, having another passenger with him.

Campfire: One of Us Is the Killer
This game is so much fun like omg why don’t people play it more; in all seriousness, don’t get this

I see the people are complaining about the graphics, but that’s the least of my concerns, I don’t judge a book by it’s cover, I grew up playing games with bad graphics, this game is just broken, it’s very buggy, and glitchy, the key’s don’t respond at times and it just freezes.
It’s a cool concept and it saddens me to see how it came out, I think if the developers put their head in the game, it wouldn’t be too late to fix it.
For the time being, I can’t recommend this to anyone.

Crew 167: The Grand Block Odyssey
I love this game. I tend to play only puzzle games or games with great atmosphere and this has both. There is no long boring tutorial. Instead, the puzzles ramp up while teaching you the mechanics. At first you may think you’ve seen this before but then there are new clever ways of dealing with the blocks. I can’t wait until the next chapter is released–what are the
! trees about? I highly recommend.
Edit to add: Finished chapter 2 and still loving it. Clever and tricky without being completely frustrating. Also curious as to where the story is going. The atmosphere is great.

Crew 167: The Grand Block Odyssey is one of the most unique puzzle games I have played. It combines a series of puzzles with a really meaningful story line that hooks in the player. The difficulty of the puzzles progressed throughout the game but while they could be challenging I always felt as they were achievable and that people regardless of their experience with puzzle games could complete them as well. One thing i think the game did really well was that when a new type of puzzle was introduced the player had the opportunity to see how they worked before the puzzles got too complex.

Decadent Thinking
Interesting premise, but the translation isn’t really serviceable. Maybe skip this if you can’t read Japanese.

Free Solo: One Life
It’s honestly impressive how such a (forgive this) boring concept can be so enamoring, i spent 35 minutes on a single level and it did NOT feel that long. Worth it, but wish it was possible to change the display colors as the very plain colors get somewhat painful after a while. Even just a slider would be nice but god that orange gets painful after around 15 minutes.

Her Lie I Tried To Believe - Extended Edition
When i first made this review i sucked this game’s cock, but i’ll be fair now.
Story actively tries to confuse you, and yet it glues you and is very immersive.
I need to talk about the soundtrack because it is god-like, unironically the best soundtrack of any game that i have ever heard. They all really fit where they’re put and are also nice to listen when doing other stuff, though looping them for very long does get tiring.
The writing is balanced between being simple and being well done and fancy, it keeps you reading without either boring or tiring you.

Great VN. Worth playing even if you have played the original before, there’s enough new content to justify the price.
What makes this game really exceptional is the story. After reading two visual novels from Hangover Cat Purrroduction, I feel like whoever writes that stuff is a severely underrated genius.

Good story and atmosphere. Hard to believe that this was basically made by just 2 people, even with the glitches. The entire game can be completed in around an hour but I kept going back in and out of the house to make sure I had ALL the notes from the outside as well. I feel like this game was made as a trailer to showcase Yasuka Taira’s design and visual style which is really good and something you’d expect from a bigger, more expenive game. But the price tag on this is fair considering how short it is and that once you finish the story there’s basically no replayability.

While I enjoy the visuals, there simply isn’t enough here to recommend. My expectations were set high with the opening scene, and my apologies if I just didn’t experience the beginning enough to understand the rest, but I simply don’t understand this game. I can’t see it as any more than just the touch of a set up for a plotline, that’s not even enough to at least get you to start thinking about the plot. It took me so long to find each note to discover the combination to the lock that I just can’t be left in any other way than disapointed. Graphics are alright but there’s so little to view it’s hard to pay the price even on sale. Check out other chilla’s art games instead there’s plenty better ways there to spend your time and money.
