A solid question base, makes for a fun trivia game. Killing zombies as a reward for correct answers makes it all the more satisfying, especially when you survive :)

It’s a trivia game with a daft mechanic for success/failure. Really rather enjoying it but the zombies don’t add anything. Play only if you like answering trivia questions.

Personally, I rather like this ‘Time Machine’ collection and the various things bundled with it. There are some really cool environments, visual effects and music - though the latter seems to bug out on some of the games, only playing during the menu. For those of us who’ve bought all these different games, it would be ideal if we could access just one menu giving access to every environment, rather than exiting to Steam every time one fancies a change in continent or century; also, smooth locomotion, since clicking the Oculus Touch controller sticks to teleport is a rather annoying way of getting around.

Some Distant Memory

Some Distant Memory

Some Distant Memory is a slow paced short exploration game clocking in at about four hours. Its set 300 years after the end of civilisation, with humanity only surviving in small protected colonies. Not much has survived from before the The Bloom and when your historian character accidentally stumbles upon a fully preserved city undamaged by The Bloom you begin using your AI to try and reconstruct a vision of that lost past, what times were like, what people where like, back before things were destroyed by ecological disaster.

If I am being completely honest, I did not enjoy the narrative in the first half of the game, but toward the end, it managed to win me over. Still, it’s a beautiful experience with an immersive soundtrack, so it really depends if you want to play a ‘text-oriented’ game in the first place. Going into this post-apocalyptic adventure, I was hoping for more free exploration, but you are mostly limited to a funnelled narrative, so I was somewhat disappointed in that regard (this is what we call a walking simulator). The gameplay comes down to exploring rooms and reading a few notes, there is not much else to it. You can complete it around 90 minutes, sadly there are no achievements or any optional locations that I know of.

can’t believe this game exists, at all :D

A single Achievement, even this is broken. Got twice to the flag xD and nothing.

Just like another of this developer’s games that I tried, War Trains, this game is a dumpster fire full of cat turds.

Controls are a joke:

  1. you can’t jump standing in place, only when running

  2. you can’t stop where you land…your character keeps taking more steps, causing constant overruns

  3. if you press back to try to stop, your character will instantly run backwards

  4. there is an epic lag between when you press jump and when it actually happens

This is enough to ruin the game altogether, given that it’s a game that requires accuracy and agility in order to pass obstacles. But with the controls the way they are, and the way some of the obstacles are set up, it’s basically impossible.

There’s not a lot of captivating open-world horror games and this game is proof of why.

But not in the bad way, no. This game actually gets it, it’s an amazing visual game with stunning assets, I was on the edge of my seat for the entirety of the experience, amazing story, dialogue and objectives, not only did I not even spend an hour not knowing what I was doing, according to the game I spent 7 hours in it instead because the achievement said so, the achievements enhances the game’s replay value and…

Let me break the game down for you. You must pull levers to open gates to take you to the next area. If you don’t move forward there are empty husk people that will drain and kill you eventually so your only option is to pull levers and move onwards. It is not open world. The areas you enter are large fields with surreal art that explains nothing about itself. The first area is just a neighborhood block with a cat watching you from above, the second is radar dishes and terraforming space buildings, the third is large emojis and old fairground rides, and the final area is old castle remains, statues and spinning globes of planet Earth with a self promoting neon banner by Andreev Worlds on the side. Nothing is explained in the game and you are just pulling levers to enter the next area until you go through the final gateway and then the credits roll. Not really worth your time. If you look at other projects Andreev Worlds did in 2021 you will see other projects of surrealism. Wild Russia was just that first iteration and it was not advertised as such when they released it. Requesting refund as the games description does not match at all what it promotes.

Some weirdness:

  • Since the maps is really small, the resources are regenerating. (rocks, trees, animals…)

  • You can’t repair your ride

  • Who the Hell cares about the color of the car?

  • The aliens. Not adding much to the gameplay (nothing)

  • Steam Inventory drop? Well, could give you few cents after marketing them…

  • You can’t do much thing at all, it’s EMPTY.

I remember the “original” version of the game which was a bit different.

But not much progress since…

Supporters pack? Nah, skipping it…

This game is bad, good concept though, gameplay reminds Rust. It is good if it was someone learning how to make video games but it doesn’t even play smoothly.

Why a cap at 30FPS? That was in 2006, now he play at a minimum 60FPS. 30FPS basically broke the game for me.

Didn’t see a single animal, zombie or alien.

Map is limited, I got to a fence or whatever and couldn’t get past.

UI doesn’t seem professional in the slightest. Must get better.

Sound too loud, headphone users be aware when you start the game, you must lower the volume immediately.

Full playthrough here w/ all achievements: https://youtu.be/tLt1wN5YIIE

I like that the game is pretty lenient with exploring and doesn’t seem to go out of it’s way to brutalize you. There’s a few major flaws with the game though one it takes forever to find important items (unless I was just unlucky) and the lock pick which is the second item you find in the game flat out does not work I tried multiple ways to make it work and even got the game to kill itself in defiance of using the item Errror script at the bottom of the review. Overall though the achievements are gettable and it’s enjoyable enough it’s too bad I couldn’t see the story I would have liked to see if there was an ending.

Day After Day is reminiscent of The Wanderer-Post Nuclear RPG, in that you are to survive as long as you can in the wasteland by scavenging for food, water, and items needed to complete side quests. The initial idea of this game is great, and could go a long way if developed more.

However, there are no cut-scenes or combat, not even turn-based combat. Days are split into quarters, with a clock to click on when you want to advance the time of day. When you choose to explore the wasteland, you are “gone” for a quarter of the day. You return and the player reads a journal entry/note about the characters exploration. Usually, it is 100% random on whether or not you retrieved items, had items stolen, or got hurt.

Zombie TD + Interactive - short = Not your typical TD game but is pretty fun. Several story routes depending on your answers. I prefer the shootout mode vs story. Would be great if the game was longer.
