Lithoi - Trials of Memory
A relaxing casual Memory game, where you choose the challenge level yourself. There are 3 challenges you can apply to any stage you play, that are not mandatory to finish the game. So play as you please.
The game has 3 different matching modes and one extra upon completion. The final one is called ‘Apeiron’ and has a more smooth and fast pace. Also the progress there, places you on the Leader boards (for those who want to be more competitive).
Overall a nice casual game, for you to enjoy some relaxing and stress free gaming time.

Lithoi is a Match-two game with unique visuals for the genre. It is casual, allowing the player to take its time and enjoy the process. The mechanics are simple, with the addition of some spell/powers as helpers. I would recommend this game to any, casual or not, gamer and any achievement hunter as well.

Fun casual puzzle game. It may be a little too easy to complete while sober. Hoping they add more levels.

Murder by Moonlight - Call of the Wolf
Y’all, I like to play this type of game when i want to just chill and lose the problems of the day and not have to be looking over my shoulder to see who is trying to take me out of the game. Its a Detective, Match 3 with some hidden object side games to change things up a little. The match 3 game i have played when you run out of move it just shuffles the tiles or sets a new grid, this one give you police tools to take out single tiles or a entire line. It’s a fun game and i enjoyed it. I got my five dollars worth. WATCH OUT FOR THE SPIDERS!!

A marginal thumbs up for this casual Match 3 / hidden object ‘mystery’.
The good:
The Match 3 gameplay is solid and relatively fun. The time limit was just there to provide a little incentive to hurry, and I rarely ran out of time.
The concept of dialog rewards and hidden object mini-games works well with the theme.
I got 9 hours out of this, and I think it ended right about when I wanted it to. Time wise, at least.
The meh: Story and dialog were super generic. The character art looks outdated and…weird. It’s not the worst, just unappealing. Also, I could have used MORE dialog and story. Like how about an interaction reward after each and every round? Not just after every three or so?

Review by Gaming Masterpieces - The greatest games of all time on Steam.

Is this game a masterpiece? Nope, you get a short indie detective adventure with a similar control scheme than the Telltale (RIP) games, although the pathfinding is awful. While the case revolves around a young woman who has been murdered, the game doesn’t take itself very seriously. The 4th wall is broken a few times, the dialogues and descriptions are of a slightly puerile humor. It has it’s charm, but don’t expect a game for mature readers. There are many references to classic film noir detective movies, but the game itself certainly doesn’t spread out any film noir atmosphere. It did make me chuckle a few times, though. When my female sidekick told me she is aroused by the smell of gunsmoke… anyway. You play the role of a juvenile detective who decided to solve his first real case and begins to investigate the first murder he runs across after listening to police radio traffic. Everything very plausible, and so the story goes on… from his automatic evidence analysing computer to the behaviour of the police and the suspects… you have to take the game for what it is - a parody. Then it is ok, especially when you like to solve mysteries and if you are a fan of classic noir movies.

A Strange City
A Strange City is an interesting indie platformer and shooter at the same time. I liked the third level the most (out of 6 existing at the moment). Speaking of which level 6 did not run (I do not know why). Based on the amount of content that is available at the moment, I can say that it is interesting but needs improvement and adding new levels after the release of early access. If the gameplay will be improved and its duration will be at least 50%-60% more we will see a pretty good project that I could recommend to my friends.

Noir Chronicles: City of Crime
I never thought I would write a negative review for a HOG published by Artifex Mundi, considering that I am a huge fan of their games, and that the game was created by Brave Giant, which is a decent HOG developer. Yet, Noir Chronicles: City of Crime bothered me on so many levels, that I feel the need to warn people about it and suggest that they might want to double check this title before deciding to purchase it.
Let me start by pointing out that the asking price of $15 is horrendously high, judging by the fact that the game takes around 3h to complete, without skipping any mini-games / HOG scenes and includes the extra chapter featured in the Collector’s Edition. There are so many other titles that are worth your $15, with a much higher replay value (Noir Chronicles: City of Crime has none at all) and even at its highest discount of 50% it’s still a pretty bad buy.

Final Verdict: Buy! Misunderstood game that’s good for puzzle beginners!
So this game has a Mixed Review status and I’m not sure why. Maybe people’s expectations were a little too high to accept this puzzle game geared for casuals / puzzle beginners. This is a classic point and click puzzle game with several hidden-object games (HOGs) mixed in. It’s a cheesy film noir inspired adventure.
Several reviewers have listed the story as being bad … I think they missed the point. It’s supposed to be cheesy. It’s a fun, casual romp. It’s not meant to be gritty nor a Sherlock adventure type mystery … it’s not even Agatha Christie. I enjoyed the story and laughed along the way at just how silly it was. For example, to get a door unlocked you talk to this old lady neighbor who wants the bad smell gone before she will help you. The bad smell ends up being a dead fish. You either enjoy that type of adventure story or you don’t, I guess.

The Cat in 14a
The Cat in 14a is an interactive film noir about a cat living in a 1950s New York apartment.
Features a non-linear branching narrative that responds to the choices you make as you direct the cat through each scene.

I played the demo of this game and after I’ve completed it, I simply couldn’t resist buying it. If you can’t decide whether you want to buy it or not, try the demo first.
tl;dr This game is one of the best I played in a long time. It’s very organic and well balanced in almost every aspect: story, music, visuals and gameplay.
Story
Take role of one of the two protagonists striving for survival and/or better life (which is quite difficult, as you will find out). The tragedy of this city lies not only in the recent terrorist attacks, but also in the appearance of an unknown murderer wandering the streets. The game has 5 chapters (with more to come in updates) and multiple endings, depending on choices made by the player.

Okay, Seeing as the game only has negative reviews at this moment, I figure I’ll bring something positive to the table. The game isn’t bad, Its strange, but not bad at all. It has its quirks, and its ups and downs like every game does, but by far it’s not a bad game.
The style of the game, is dark, it even mentions it in the description. It following through with saying the games dark grey to black and white style is true to that of noire films, with a low detail style behind it, might not be the best choice for traditional noire but the game hits key points within the genre.

Dead-End Detective: The Sixpence Strangler
Set in the 1950s, and with jokes and double entendres that have all the subtlety of many of the comedy shows of that time, this is a reasonable reproduction of a typical police yarn of that period. This is more a visual novel with choices than an actual game, though you do get to create the character of the protagonist. You play as a police Inspector out to catch a serial killer and during your enquiries you meet the staple characters from that period: the complaining neighbour, the vampish bar girl, the ribald sailors and a pair of constables, one of whom is an eager and ambitious young man, and the other a typical cynical policeman who has seen it all, as well as a jealous colleague who resents your success. Its set in a cold, wet and wintry London.

Deadlands Noir - That Old Time Religion
Sam Spade [Humphrey Bogart ~ Maltese Falcon (1941)] has nothing on Harvey Jenkins when it comes to being a hard boiled private detective. This is ‘Film Noir’ without the film.
Stories are set in 1935 New Orleans, Harvey Jenkins is a man about town who has unlikely friends and makes powerful enemies. But that is what happens when one is a private detective that takes on unusual cases, those of the supernatural kind. He and John Constantine (Vertigo comics Hellblazer/2005 movie) are much alike, one foot in Hell and the other in Heaven.

While I briefly played the Deadlands tabletop RPG back in the 90s - yup, I’m THAT old! - I’ll confess to having never so much as HEARD of this Deadlands Noir phenomenon. Now, considering that Deadlands was more-or-less a transposing of Call of Cthulhu-style antics into a Western (read: cowboy) setting, I’m not quite sure what the purpose of transposing Call of Cthulhu-style antics into a 1930s setting is, considering that that’s precisely when the original Call of Cthulhu RPG was set anyway! BUT…I’m not here to query the existence of a tabletop RPG, I’m here to review a video game/“visual novel” set in that universe. So get awn wit' it, already!
