What’s Your Gender?

What’s Your Gender?

This is a lovely, wholesome, informative and short game about gender identity.

The player walks through some kind of museum or art exhibition. As you explore, you come across various terms related to gender identity and expression. From time to time, a pleasant voice will ask questions, like: How do I know what gender I am? Or: What makes me feel euphoric? There is a room, where you can try out different pronouns for youself to experience how you feel when they are used for you.

I recommend playing this game. It’s sweet, fun, wholesome… but also, I recommend forwarding it for educational purposes. I think you can safely recommend it to your friends and family. To people who might have mentioned they’d like to learn more about gender identity.

I’m a genderqueer YouTuber and I highly approve of this game!! This is an amazing first-person experience exploring gender, gender expression, and sexuality. The concepts are really interesting, definitions are clear, and overall the space makes you feel the experience. I played this on my channel, DaintyTank, for Trans Awareness Week as this game is a perfect way to get an introduction to different concepts in gender.

Definitely think it’s worth spending the $2 to support the developers and for you to play this yourself! You can see my playthrough below but this game is much more impactful to play yourself. Love you all and your feelings are valid!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND AS A ACHIEVEMENT HUNTER DETAILS BELOW

honestly this “game” isnt bad but its short and has limited choices that dont really change much… its about two girls who are in love with each other but they dont know how the other one feels yadda yadda….

as a gamer: this game is… too short and theres not alot that changes in this… i suppose that its because a its a prelude to a visual novel game… that im probably not gonna play

as a achievement hunter: the achievements for some reason didnt work… i played the game like 5 times reset it a bunch and did everything apart from downloading things to force it to give me the achievement but nether one popped its strange to me because one of my achievement hunter friends got it not even a 2 weeks before i started playing… but i cant make my set on other people i have to get the achievement… and if i cant get it… something broke which means someone else has to have had the issue… well i looked it up, and some do have a issue, some dont… no one knows how it breaks but everyone kinda irritated

Kitty Powers' Love Life

This game can be as casual as you want to make it, or you can be like me and keep literal notebooks full of villager information. I frequently fall victim to the “just one more turn” mentality, giving myself just one more day in the game to see if I can successfully help a problematic couple level up. It’s quirky, and extremely satisfying if you’re the kind of person who likes lists, schedules, and putting things in order. The only thing I wish it had was maybe some kind of custom mode, perhaps as a cheap paid DLC, where you could make your own villagers (similar to how you make your avatar). And the people behind the game are wonderful! Earlier in the game’s lifespan, I had a gamebreaking bug which has since been fixed. I reached out through their website, and they asked me to send in my save file and fixed my save! They saved literally hundreds of hours of gameplay for me. I have since bought their games on pretty much every platform they offer. The optional integration from the previous game is also a bonus, which they added completely for free. (Couples you match in the last game can be transferred into this game).

All the positive qualities of the 1st game (the humor, the music & sound effects, the ingenious 10 type system) and a deeper, more engaging gameplay!

This time, instead of going on dates, people are already matched (random couples can be generated, you can match up your friends or you can import ready couples from Matchmaker) and they come to reside in a player managed village until their relationship becomes strong enough for the real world.

The whole thing is simulated as a sort of mini campaign of passing days (each game day takes a few or several minutes depending on what speed you choose) interlaced with certain events/mini-games that pause the time and after which the game progress is auto-saved.

My Dear Prince

My Dear Prince

My Dear Prince is a cute yuri romance VN through and through. Sweet and cliched, it will rarely surprise you with anything major and features rather typical anime comedic tropes – exaggerated, quirky characters fumbling their way to a happy ending, with the conclusion being pretty much obvious from the first act. There’s a lot of solid writing in it and wholesome moments, but this kind of story is not necessarily where ebi-hime’s craftsmanship shines the most – the comedy she writes relies very much on caricature and central characters behaving in outlandish ways (if someone remembers the parent characters from Strawberry Vinegar, they’ll know what I mean). It’s not bad, but not necessarily subtle and the opening chapters relentlessly bombard the reader with such content, which for some is likely to feel a bit overbearing.

A nice story actually. It’s fun to read until the very end. Also includes a

Red Embrace

Red Embrace

Not a lot of time has passed since my last ecstatic review of Argent Games' BL visual novel “Chess of Blades”. Quite soon we have a wonderful opportunity to enjoy their next masterpiece “Red Embrace”. It’s the third work of just a 2-person team and I’m totally thrilled with their talent. It was actually the first time I was curious who the developers were, being so impressed with their games.

Foremost “Red Embrace” attracted my attention with astonishing artstyle. Everything is so beautiful in this game. I simply couldn’t take my eyes off the MC. He looks really gorgeous.

Sexy vampires, nuff said!

Now to fill in the review. But seriously, Red Embrace is a fine BL/yaoi visual novel even if it doesn’t do anything really special. It’s very short (for 3/4 routes) and as such works with compressed narrative and a pretty straightforward (if accelerated) romance, in that dark urban fantasy vein. But its strengths lie in very compelling atmosphere mostly weaved by stellar soundtrack and attractive visuals; and also in details, character interactions, sensual moments… How should I say; it’s very sexy without having any explicit content what-so-ever.

Requiescence

Requiescence

Requiescence is a fabulous Boys Love visual novel. It was created by Argent Games, I enjoyed their two latest games Chess of Blades and Red Embrace so much that I couldn’t help buying it immediately after finishing RE.

I was drawn into that eerie atmosphere from the first minutes, I was really intrigued by the mysterious plot! Don’t expect it to be a light romance novel. It has a really dark hue in it. Mages, demons, intense fighting, decaying world… I llloved the story, although it is not that long, only 125,000 words; don’t pay attention to my time record, I was distracted a lot while playing:) Many characters have captivating background stories that make their personalities quite deep. I was emotionally involved a lot, even cried in some route, although it was meant to be a happy ending. I still have a grudge about it, devs!

When I saw a BL visual novel pop up, I screamed happy fangirl screams. I thought it was a new, interesting idea since I haven’t seen a BL visual novel on here before. Let me start by saying this game is something you can play and finish all in one weekened. I clocked in technically 12 hrs, despite the 10 hrs on steam, and finished/exhausted every route and choice available. However, while the pros outweigh them, there are still some cons:

Cons:

Dialogue-The dialogue, for the most part, was perfect. It’s voice acted, so that’s even better. My only problem, and it’s a pet peeve of mine, is when the dialogue that is spoken doesn’t match what is written. It happened a lot, more than I would have liked. Especially in Damian’s route.

(My reviews assume you have read about the content of the game in terms of gameplay. I am simply reviewing each individual aspect based on my opinion. This allows for my reviews to be spoiler-free. You may find I rate by different categories in each of my reviews. This is because every type of game is different, and will not have the same content. I think it is pointless to leave a category blank or write ‘unrelated’, or something similar.)

A very well written, and immersive experience.

IF you have an open mind, are into a TON of reading, and some detective work.

It really is finding a lost phone, then being a total nebsh*t, looking at everything on the phone, opening new things as they come in, and reading about part of the owner’s life story as you go. The story will not be for everyone. It does touch on some sensitive content, that may not appeal to everyone. If you are open-minded about transgender lives, and want to try to understand a brief snippet of one story, you may enjoy it. If you are a bigot and closed-minded, well… this isn’t for you. Just move along.

A Summer’s End - Hong Kong 1986

Damn, I wish this game came out in my teenage horny phase. It’s okay though. It never really ended ;). Sam is soooooooo hot and Michelle is a timeless beauty. They are officially my favorite 2D waifus.

On a more serious note - this game touched me in so many ways, I’m not even sure where to start. I played this game with a group of people I met online after playing another visual novel with them, Missed Messages by Angela He. At some point, I saw this TikTok of someone basically fangirling over the character design and visuals. And it is stunning - almost to a fault. The artwork is so impressive and professionally done, I unconsciously conceived it as a Japanese produced visual novel. It’s not. And thank goodness it’s not because it’s so much better than I was prepared for.

LGBTQ Visual Novel Review: A Summer’s End - Hong Kong 1986

Excerpts from my review on Yurimother.com

Before diving into the meat of Oracle and Bone’s A Summer’s End, I want to talk about the women behind this game Tida Kietsungden, and Charissa So. So and Kietsungden have done nothing but impress me since the announcement of A Summer’s End. They have repeatedly demonstrated their immense effort and dedication to creating a beautiful and thoughtful experience. Through conversations with the studio and reading their blog entries, I gained a remarkable understanding of how this game is both a tribute to classic cinema and a love letter to the Yuri and LGBT community. Through careful research and thoughtful expression, the two women navigate and acknowledge complicated issues, including Asian LGBTQ history and Hong Kong’s delicate political situation with grace and maturity. I am in complete awe of both women and their work. However, regardless of my profound respect for these creators, I still endeavor to offer my unfiltered thoughts on the visual novel, giving praise and criticism where appropriate.

Ace In Space

Ace In Space

I’ve not finished all playthroughs yet, and will need to update this when I have.

But so far I really love this game.

I evidently read it a LOT slower than most people, it took me 6 hours to do what other reviews indicate should only take 60 minutes, due to my disabilities and sleep disorder!!

However, that doesn’t reflect on how engaged I was with this game.

Having a brown, non-binary, asexual alone was extremely rewarding, as it’s a bunch of my identities all in one character which never happens!

Real player with 10.3 hrs in game

So! Ace in Space is finally here after much anticipation on my part - and I’m very glad that it is.

The game follows a non-binary, asexual character who is battling cancer. on a journey into space with benevolent robots. These concepts are explored a little further once you reach the actual dating portion of the dating sim; if you don’t know what the terms non-binary or asexual mean, you’ll be taught about it during the date sequences. If that doesn’t appeal, then this game isn’t for you - and that’s okay. The game is clearly aimed at a more niche audience.
