God save us from button-mashers, meaningless and merciless.
P. S. All the achievements work, 2/4 require some macro approach.

东方试闻广纪 ~ Perfect Memento of Touhou Question
It’s pretty nice, you can test your knowledge of touhou lore and probably find new things.
But some questions need to be more specific or separated in two, for example:
there’s a question about Oni’s being afraid of fried beans, which is their weakness but doesn’t mean they are afraid of it, in WaHH Suika wanted the humans to shoo her away with them and almost cried when people didn’t do it, Remilia thought setsubun looked fun but got hurt and banned it from the mansion (tho if it was actually because of the beans or because they were hot is still unknown), but that doesn’t mean she’s afraid of them either.

clarste, eat your heart out.
Some stuff I remembered differently:
Yuyuko didn’t throw those petals to cause Spring, she was in fact stealing it from Gensoukyou to cause Saigyou Ayakashi to bloom. The petals were a byproduct of blooming cherry trees in the Netherworld.
In the BAiJR article, Aya mistakenly attributes the falling petals to the people of Tenkai having lavish parties.
Iku strongly dislikes Tenko and the Hinanawi for causing so much trouble and her more work, so it’s not exactly a “passing” relationship. Tenko however barely manages to recognize her as a person.

Suzunaan on Fire
Do not underestimate the wires.
Do not think about the impossible level.
Do not think about the broken star system.
Look at her.
She’s the love of your life, brother.
Look at her. Bask in her glory.

tl;dr: typical meme game on steam that devs weren’t even bothered to play it themselves. If you had 2 dollars to spend and you didn’t care about what to spend on I’d rather suggest you picking up Touhou Suzunaan (Forbidden Scrollery) digital manga on Amazon for an extra 3 bucks. The original manga, which this meme was based on, was a great series that every Touhou fan should read. It honestly deserves much more respect than this.
I like supporting Touhou fangames and their creators, and I really don’t mind playing amateur/student-level games as long as they put their heart into it, but this one is apparently not the case.

Seiga Kaku uses her amazing Taoist arts and gives you a life lesson
Ever since I’ve started playing Touhou, my brain has been constantly expanding in size, to the point where it would no longer fit inside my skull, but thanks to Seiga Kaku uses her amazing Taoist arts and gives you a life lesson, my brain has finally reverted back to its original size.

being someone who’s an avid reader of wuxia and xianxia novels, i’ve been exposed to a fair amount of Taoism and have always been interested in it. reading the study section was a very insightful experience and it does helps with the explanations and notes.
oh, and i mean, you get turned into a jiangshi too so there’s that.

Touhou Ibunseki - Ayaria Dawn: ReCreation
Fun monopoly-like board game. Has some balance issues, and the English translation is wonky but ultimately understandable. Hopefully will be improved in future patches. Recommended for Touhou Project fans. The game does not have online multiplayer yet, but promises it as a future feature. You can still play online with your friends through Steam remote share, and for this they don’t need a copy of the game.
Edit: As of February this game got patched with 2 new characters and some new features. Based on the character unlock screen, they are planning for around two dozen more characters.

TLDR: If you want an online** Monopoly style game with more ways to interact and destroy your friendships, block out your entireeee night and snag this. Had a lot of fun.
** RE:ONLINE - Saw a lot of people mention no online play - the Steam Remote Play feature is perfect for this game. Invite your friends who don’t even own the game (but will buy it afterwards anyway) to play remotely. Works perfectly. **
Coming from hundreds of hours of digital Monopoly (multiple platforms) I was excited to give this a go. Our first game took 5 hours (4 players, Mansion map) - maybe because none of us really mastered how to maximize the threat of the property we owned. But it was a blast.

Touhou Kikamu ~ Elegant Impermanence of Sakura
Another great Touhou fangame for us to enjoy in these quarantine times.
Art and Visuals: 8/10
Portraits are a bit inconsistent style-wise, and have a very European doll-looking look. which might not be for everyone.
Additionally, sound effects could be more diversified (the same sound is used for bomb extends, life extends, capturing spells, and filling up the combo counter.
System: 9/10
The scoring system is really creative, and centers around dyeing enemies and holding your fire for the exact right moments. The -1 is because of its relatively limited use during boss battles (due to a lack of enemies to dye), but it’s still really good and creative.

EIoS is probably my favorite Touhou game of all. The mechanics are fun and reward skillful play, it’s graphically and aurally a treat, and the difficulty scales really well leaving almost everyone with a mode that can be played.
Note: The game starts in Chinese. When you first start it, move the menu left a few times and you should see a settings menu (with English in parenthesis), inside is a language menu where you can select English, German, French, or Japanese along with Chinese.
There are three pairs of characters, which like Imperishable Night, has a human unfocused and a youkai focused. Each character in the pair has their own speed, shot type, and bomb type. The human will hit “elite” foes (those with healthbars and auras), but will not hit weak foes that generally die in one hit (“popcorn”). The youkai will hit popcorn, but will not hit most foes with auras. Both members of a team are able to hit bosses.

宇宙终极秘密-灵魂The ultimate secret of the universe:Soul
I don’t think this philosophical introspective piece should’ve been a game, the medium made it seem tedious and convoluted for what may’ve been a truly innovative new way of thinking.

Marisa’s Marvelous Magic Shop
Marisa’s Peculiar Magic Shop is a pretty simple economy simulation. You purchase raw materials and create products out of them that customers will slowly buy over time. Game time only passes after you’ve done all your purchases/transactions in a category, so the point is to think big and buy/manufacture in large quantities each time. Making profits means you can stick these into even more production and hopefully snowball to repay your debt of each stage in time.
This kind of gameplay alone could be terribly dry, but luckily, you’ve also got bodyguards to hire and monster attacks to survive with their help. Later on, you’ll also build up a missile defense system against competing companies. Apart from these out-of-the-ordinary mechanics, the game’s artwork is lovely. The biggest strength of MPMS overall, though, is its hilarious story. It doesn’t just deliver some innocent jokes here and there, but goes for some pretty bold satire later. It’s not a direction I’d have expected a Touhou fangame to head into, but I loved it!

This game is an extremely addicting capitalism simulator that ends ends too quickly, but damn does it deliver!

MarisaLand Legacy
An amazing and fun Touhou themed tribute to the original Super Mario Bros.
Gameplay and levels are fun and enjoyable. Controls and mechanics are nice and simple. The Hard Stages are a little unforgiving, but they’re meant to be hard, so I can’t really complain about that.
Would love to have another sequel!

This game is seriously awesome! It’s similar to SMB1, but with some element differences. The main one being that Marisa gradually grows. Rather than just having a big and small form, Marisa grows another head tall depending on how many mushrooms she has. At four heads, she gets a projectile move, and at 8 heads, she is temporarily large enough to charge through everything, similar to the mega mushroom from the Mario series.
I really love the art style of this game. The pixel art is extremely vibrant, cute, and detailed. The music is fun, upbeat, and matches the mood of every level! This sort of variety in game styles is really why I started to like Touhou. Marisaland Legacy is a fun, unique, and cute take on an age-old classic like SMB1. I would recommend it to anyone!
