Air Forte

Air Forte

It’s a good game for kids with educational value. However, the controls and the stutter in the graphics can make the game very difficult to play. It’s also very short and can be beaten in less than 1 hour. There are more things to do than the main adventure, but the interest levels are low. Achievements are broken.

Edit - Go into the game folder in Steam/Steamapps/Common/Airforte/Data and copy the steamwrapper.dll and rename it to steamwrap2.dll. This will make the achievements work.

Edit - Fixed the stutter in the graphics by installing the new OpenAL to help fix sound issues as well. For some reason this solved the problem. I found the file here. http://www.openal.org/creative-installers/

Pros:

  • Absurdist humour setting

  • Jumpin’ soundtrack

  • It’s educational!

Cons:

  • Solutions are debateable

  • Pretty short game

  • Full controller operation not supported

  • Steam trophy integration partially broken (fixable)

Air Forte is an educational game where you and up to three friends take control of little airplanes and collect floating tokens that match a specific requirement for each mission. The missions are either number missions (e.g. collect tokens showing multiples of 3), word type missions (e.g. collect all the verbs) or flag missions (e.g. collect all the European flags). The main story is framed as a children’s comic-book with crazy jungle characters and a flying ace hippopotamus. Along with the surf-themed music the whole package is quite cute.

This is a nice little game for a small child. My 3 y/o loves it. It was nice to find a game that he could enjoy and challenge his mind a little bit. There is no real story that I can see, but I have only given it a quick eye test and watch him play it a bit. All in all, not a bad game to pick up so a little boy/girl can game like mommy or daddy.

Perfect game for your 2-4 Year old child. Perfect. My son loved it so much. Very large variety of mini-games, and even a decent, voice-less movie that is extremely entertaining even for adults, although it’s a bit trippy/psychedelic, so it’s even more ‘cool’. great music as well. 8/10, worth 5 bucks imo

I got this for my 5 year old, but my 10 yr ols also enjoys playing it. alot of the little games I dont think they kow they are learning. the games are fun and sometimes challenging but in a good way. there are alot of little hidden things to interact with in each room that they are still discovering new things. as a homeschooling mom I can suggest this to other parent who are looking for a more educational but still fun game for your kid to play they will get hooked on getting more stars.

I have read some people complain about the voice overs not matching the characters mouth movements and I can agree but I will add that my kids have either not noticed or dont care so I dont feel this is a bad thing but I wanted to add it.

Bought this game for my 6 year old brother. He absolutely loved it, Very fun and stimulating for children at that age with small in game rewards for completing assignments/objectives to keep them motivated.

I have pretty low end-medium laptop as its not even a gaming laptop and it runs the game with no problem.

I got it on sale for $4-5, But after having played it myself and with my brother i would recommend buying it even at full retail which was $7.

Humongous Entertainment if you are reading this I wish you would come out with more of these games for higher grade levels. at least until 5th grade.

Da! Russian Quiz

Da! Russian Quiz

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I first learned the Cyrillic alphabet using a children’s game app on my phone over the summer. Since then, I have been attempting to learn vocabulary with little success because it’s very laborious. This game teaches you the Cyrillic alphabet, hundreds of key words/phrases that would be sufficient for a tourist to communicate with locals with ease, and a bunch of nouns. If all you want is to be able to be understood by locals at a rudimentary level the way a native Spanish speaker sounds when he comes to the US, then this is the perfect app for you. There is no fuss, no confusing grammar, and no neutered/gendered words that defy common sense. The timed interactive quizzing method has proven to be manner in which I learn languages most easily because it allows me to test my knowledge and confirm retention. Highly recommend!

Real player with 43.0 hrs in game

The game is best used as a resource while learning the Cyrillic alphabet and is handy for those who already speak Russian who wish to learn English words. If you already know both English and Russian this will be like a refresher course. It teaches you numerous words and has an adorable bear. You can set how much time you have for each quiz.

If you can’t speak either language but have a friend who does they can help you out which works great!

When you’re having fun you learn so much easier! :D

Experience the Energy: Take the Challenge

Experience the Energy: Take the Challenge

Experience the Energy: Take the Challenge is a free VR game funded by the Canada Oil industry. It worked on my system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Has a series of mini-games that sort of test you for ten jobs in the oil industry. Some of the games have short timers, so makes them hard to win.

Try this game, if you are interesting in Oil industry.

Well produced I suppose. Actually, it’s very well done. I played a little bit of the GO version first. I don’t know if they feature parity of experiences. I played a fair amount (but maybe not all) of the experiences on PC until I got bored, which wasn’t very long. Alot of these games didn’t really have much to do with oil and gas, but I think maybe because of the category I selected. My favorite game was the first one I played, whereby you get to evaulate employees and they come into work and send them home or let them go to work.

! That’s my dream job. https://youtu.be/uZwxzIn6pg0

Try this, if you are interested in learning about the Oil industry.

Oddly I preferred this non-interactive video experience more than the interactive mini-game one. Mainly because they are both not very scintillating topics. I mean, it’s kind of interesting, but not like videos about jungle animals or cool space stuff. It’s the energy industry preaching to you. It has marvelous video quality though. It’s so high you can’t really tell if it’s monoscopic or not.

I usually don’t review a game until after I complete it, but if you love puzzles this is a lovely little game. The overall effect is like those delicate prints on glass from long ago. Well worth the sales price of .49 cents USD. Oh, pleasant music to boot.

The music is nice, albeit a little repetitive. The game itself is fast to complete. Would only recommend if you get it on sale and want to waste a small amount of time. It’s an easy 12 achievements (1 for each level) and that’s about it.
