Dinogotchi

Dinogotchi

Dinogotchi reminds me of all the tamagotchis I had as a child, they’re all dead… But Dinogotchi is different, the game has a nice and cute art, the music and sound effects are nice but I feel like the game in general could have a extra polish.

I recommend the game, especially for those who already had tamagotchis in their childhood or for those interested in the genre.

I am editing my review to update my opinions on the game, I will keep the original at the bottom of this for context, my biggest issues with parts of the game being unplayable is fixed so I think it’s fair and time to change this. :)

The developer of this game has done a good job at making a cute game and being open to criticism and fixing the problems. All the issues I reported were fixed really fast and it gives me a lot of hope for future updates.

The pixel art in the game is really well done, all the dinosaurs look cute and recognisable and overall really pleasant to look at. The UI is really nice and was updated recently to make the happiness, hunger and energy icons more clean which wasn’t necessary but a really nice change. The music is also very nice and cute, I enjoy it a lot, more songs would be nice but this is still good.

Dynomite Deluxe

Dynomite Deluxe

I’ve got Windows 8.1, on a gaming laptop, and this version of Dynomite seems to be a little screwed up. You must reset your settings each time you launch the game, plus the scoring is completely messed up compared to the original version. You play 20 minutes on normal endless, and your score is still really, really low. The game is not as visually smooth as it was on my old computer either. Would I recommend spending 10 bucks on this game without a fix from Steam? Only if you are a diehard dynomite fan.

Dynomite Deluxe is a bubble game. If you don’t like your basic facebook bubble games, this game is probably not for you. However, it has options for gameplay that are far different from the average bubble game.

Please note: I played this game a ton as a child, so I’m biased to like this game, however I have played 22 hours of it on steam, so I can explain reasons other than nostalgia that you might also love it.

Dynomite Deluxe follows your basic bubble game mechanics. You have a shooter at the bottom of the puzzle, and you toss different colored eggs to try and match pairs of 3 or more. Simple. Your different gamemodes include endless, puzzle, fossil, and time trial, each with a different goal in mind.

Chronoraptor

Chronoraptor

I know the developer and i must say, this game not only is one of the most metal ideas but is executed very well. It was hard to understand at first but there is a feeling of satisfaction when you learn the mechanics, it was repetitive at points but made up for this by fun and sometimes thrilling game-play. Each level had the same ideas and yet they felt so different. you have to learn more each level about the mechanics which is also great, it was very fun although I must say, I wish there were checkpoints at each different sections of the level. I also hope more levels would be added. I also really liked how it looked, something about it was unique I have never seen in games I’ve seen/played. For a free game i’d rate it a solid 7.5/10. I hope this review inspires you to play, and again this is the most metal game idea ever, I mean, time travel, cyborg raptor that also time travels, TIME PARADOXES, did I mention cyborg raptor that time travels, it’s really metal.

The concept of manipulating time in a game has been disappointingly underutilized as a mechanic by game developers, so when there’s a game that tries their hand at it I am always eager to see it applied in new and fun ways. Chronoraptor delivers in that regard in a super clean bite sized package. The gameplay is mostly simple but will take a few tries before you feel you really have a good idea of how you can use the time traveling efficiently within an area. Once you have it down though, the puzzles are a blast to solve when you can make a really clean run through them without missing a beat. By the end though it does feel like the puzzles got a bit stale and the raptor was a strange hurdle in the sense that there wasn’t really a clever way of avoiding him with the time travel. It boiled down to just spamming doppelgangers to get him off my trail but having the fear of a raptor charging you down was still fun to have.

Dinosaur Shakespeare: To Date or Not To Date?

Dinosaur Shakespeare: To Date or Not To Date?

I guess I am one of the first reviews and I can see why. This game is not worth the asking price.

The game is pure nonsense. The self-awareness jokes are out of place and completely random.

There is no pacing, at all. The game is unnecessarily obtuse and convoluted in almost every facet of its writing and aesthetic. All of the clashing elements, which feel intentional, do not function well together and make the game incredibly difficult to follow or mentally gel together. The designs of the characters do not factor into their personality or habits at all. They don’t even seem to have a point or theme behind them. Beyond their interpersonal conflicts with each other, they are just “wacky and random” much like the game itself.

Mesozoica

Mesozoica

Settle in folks for a review of the best upkept games on early access!

A broken 33.99 tech demo, that is praised by its fanbase with rabid fanaticism. Mesozoica has done nothing but impress! The dev’s and mods deal with trolls (And people that aren’t a fan of how the’ve taken their money and done essentially nothing with it thus far) to keep a clean happy forum. They are also fans of giving updates on their updates for a game that should have obviously stayed in development for another 4 months. But if you’re willing to look passed the negatives, here are some positives.

EDIT: PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, IT IS VERY LIKELY ABANDONED AND A SCAM. From another poster (Devs Update on April 1st: Progression of and managing your park):

“From Hawk-@Forever_Lona:

This will quickly get deleted and I will be banned, so I hope someone gets to see this.

I have been part of the new Discord for bug testers.

The only thing that is being “tested” at the moment is terraforming. Theres nothing else. No UI update. Terraforming is still broken. Pretty much all the bugs are still there. The last bug report on the Github page was 10 days ago. Devs are not responding to bugs or closing reports. Reports are still coming through from issues that have persisted since 0.1. No one is interested.

TLDR: Facebook type game. 50% clicker where you gather ressources and use them to build more ressource hotspots and population cap houses. 50% HOMM-style combat. The combat half is tacked on and ultimately meaningless. The ressource half is spam and grind heavy. You’d be better off playing Bravelands for casual tactics and the promised land for the ressource management

Review: Game is rather pleasant. Audiovisually it strikes a nice balance, mostly good audio all around, nothing spectacular but very competently done. The villagers are grown woman that makes newborn baby sounds which is rather offputting but might trigger some biologically programmed protective instinct in some players. The clicker aspect works fairly well but is, as expected, all filler and very grind heavy. It did not seem to suffer much from any mobile or flash leftovers with the ability to have a lot of workers present and being left to spawn any ressource spawning hotspot and in any quantity one wishes within map limits. Where the game falls short is that all this grinding is to power the other half which is a HOMM style combat strategy. The variety of unit is understandably limited, the artifacts for the only hero are slow coming and not terribly varied and the upgrade path for the multiple combat abilities are neat but ultimately pointless. The whole tactical map is non interactive except for the occasional hostile hotspot being created. By the time enough foes are encountered to make this a relevant part of the game you will most likely have grinded your way to the final units and will be drowned in wealth. Beating the encounters is thus trivial without any tactics and the turn based nature of it becomes all the more tedious and unwanted. With no auto-resolve button and with nothing left on offer from the game, you will most likely want to discontinue play. The game will keep feeding you side-objectives that increase experience like making a certain amount of buildings or clearing new hostiles. Slogging through those will see you through to to the game’s ending, but not nearly fast enough for the fast increasing boredom.

I got this as a mystery game for free alongside one of my Insanity Sale purchases on Fanatical, and I wasn’t expecting a lot when I checked Steam and saw the pricing - but I was pleasantly surprised once I started playing. :)

Prehistoric Tales is a cute and relaxing management game (with dinosaurs!) where you get to collect various resources, build your very own cozy settlement, trade with sailor merchants who will frequently offer you dubious deals, and battle the encroaching hostiles in turn-based fashion. It’s all very addictive, and although the resource collection can be a bit high on the clicking-maintenance at times, you can also unlock skills which help with that.

Wildlife Park 2 - Dino World

very fun game although i personally think it needs some more dinosaurs like some kind of sauropod and galimimus. also carnotaurus would be awesome! either way this game is fun and if you learn how to do it right u can go without ever feeding ur dinos! (I dont mean hacking or glitching dont do that XD)

I am most pleased with Wildlife Park 2 as i have been playing for years and i am so glad that it has come to steam and i will have many more memorable moments in the future. Simply intriguing, Fascinating and mysterious as i am still learning more about the game.

My favourite thing to do is make an ecosytem of herbivores and predators that maintain healthy populations and feed themselves , and thus continue to survive by providing a proper genetic diversity for themselves. This way i can observe how the AI reacts and responds when left with little to no contact from the user.

This is a very satisfying and one of the few monster games currently on the market. The animations are perfect and the gameplay is mostly original. It’s a bit disappointing how short this game is (story mode is about 1 hour) but you can spend hours in arcade mode. I can’t wait for a sequel!
