Goose Goose Duck

Goose Goose Duck

Like most who play Goose Goose Duck, I began by playing Among Us! It was not long into playing I met others and began playing with VoiceChat, then began playing the modded versions of Among Us - before I knew it - regular/no voice Among Us suddenly seemed stale and lifeless.

And then I heard about something called ‘Proxy Chat’, which means you can talk to other players while you are on the ship, but only if you are within eyesight of someone/within their proximity. There is a program you download separate from Among Us that allowed you to use this feature… but unfortunately it was very buggy, unstable, and would never work, resulting in many people just repeating “can you hear me?” or “I cannot hear anyone.”

Far from Noise

Far from Noise

“Far from Noise” urges the player to be slow, contemplative, and introspective. The art, sound, and gameplay all nudge you this way. The game consists entirely of dialog choices as the protagonist is trapped on a lovingly rendered and animated seaside cliff, balanced between life and death. She experiences wind and rain, sunsets and star-filled night skies, and muses on life, death, nature, loneliness, and purpose. The dialog choices are slow, in what seems like an attempt to use the player’s possible impatience to empathize with the character and her own stuggles.

8.5/10

About 2/3 of the way through the game I messaged a friend, and told him that the game I’m currently playing is likely the funniest game I’ve ever played.

Judging by the game description in the store, this seems unlikely, but the game’s existentialist and postmodern themes and quips resonated not just with my humor but with personal philosophies I hold dear, such as Victor Frankl’s Logotherapist view of the world (the core drive of human beings is to create meaning out of experience). In a game, you create meaning out of a piece of art, and in many ways, this game itself is about creating meaning. The dialogue is incredibly well-written, and during the entire experience I had this enormous smile plastered across my face, laughing often and out loud.

Furry Shakespeare: Love’s Lizards Lost

Furry Shakespeare: Love’s Lizards Lost

The young king of Navarre has declared a three year study of Castle Dragongate, an ancient keep of unknown origin. He wishes to uncover its secrets, which have been fabled to link back to the beginning of time.

Something like that, at least. It sounds like an awesome spring break for you and the rest of the king’s entourage. There’s no possible way that you’ll stumble on to a conflict that is in dire need of resolution. Hey! The young queen of France is here with HER entourage! That’s going to lead to some sexy hijinks, right? I can already feel the existential dread of what may be lurking within those ancient ruins fading away!

An Adventure game with Dating Sim aspects, based on one of Shakespeare’s lost works, ‘Love’s Labour’s Won’.

  • Engage in witty banter over five acts as you pick and choose which of your fellow compatriots to learn about and totally not flirt with.

  • Will your (totally not careless) actions doom or free the surrounding lands?

Wild Honesty: A party game for deeper conversations

Wild Honesty: A party game for deeper conversations

Do you want to connect better with your friends, family, partners? This is the game for you. It opens the floor for conversation and getting to know one another. Having played this with some intimate friends, it left us spending hours discussing our lives, our pasts, and a lot of other things we never likely would have broached. Come to the metaphorical table with a mindset of vulnerability, and you’ll come out learning a lot about the people you’ve played with.

Could use some more questions, but I figure the developers will update over time and add more as time goes on. I don’t know if the questions repeat, but it’d be good to be able to mark questions as answered. Maybe have a mode where it’s a ‘saved game’, so it remembers what you’ve already answered and what you haven’t. Multiple save game slots would be good, to play it with different people/groups.

Really enjoyed it, actually and looking forward to seeing where this goes and if there’s any additional questions as time goes on with a patch or some sort. The guessing questions are good for losen up the mood if anyone doesnt feel like talking, etc. But the questions are really good prompts to reflect and chat with others. You might not play this game with strangers but its great to play with people you know and its good to sit and discuss these questions.

I Really love the concept actually.

I don’t think this philosophical introspective piece should’ve been a game, the medium made it seem tedious and convoluted for what may’ve been a truly innovative new way of thinking.

Ragnar’s Chinese Memory Game

Ragnar’s Chinese Memory Game

Simple and effective to increase vocabulary. Better than flash cards because you can hear the sound. Only thing that would make it better is if it had a way to slow down the speech. And an option to hear a male or female voice.

I love this game.

Simple but effective.

I appreciate that it ships with traditional mandarin, and I would love it even more if it had Zhuyin spelling as an alternative to Pinyin.

The look and feel is very pleasant for the eyes, same as the audio tracks.

This game could be extended with additional playing modes for increased replayability, such as:

  • associate characters with their pinyin/zhuyin

  • associate characters with drawings

  • associate triplets (spelling, characters, meaning) instead of pairs

Dude, Where Is My Beer?

Dude, Where Is My Beer?

*Note that the story is unfinished. The game keeps on mentioning part 2, which is never explained whether it’s another game or an update to this game.

My playtime: 22.6h (based on Steam, 100% achievements)

Grindy Achievement(s): No.

Optional Achievement(s): Yes (~14 achievements).

Difficult Achievement(s): No (some are difficult but they should be easy once you figure out how to get them).

Intro

Have you ever try to go through several pubs just to find out that they are not selling the beer that you want? Dude, Where Is My Beer? lets you experience the suffering as you, the main character, stranded in a rest stop with a lot of varied, disgusting craft beers with no pilsner in sight.

Real player with 22.6 hrs in game

Dude, Where Is My Beer? is an oldschool (difficult and illogical) point-and-click game. Worth playing only for masochists who adore the genre’s core mechanics, and even then it might be a tad overpriced at $15 USD.

The store page gives a basic description of the game. I’d add a few notes.
