Board Games VR

Board Games VR

You play checkers against the computer. I whupped his/her butt! This happens in the middle of a large, empty white room. I think it takes place in purgatory? I don’t know. It’s definitely not heaven. If you get to heaven, you get your own room, and it’s much nicer. All of it is immaculately white. Some gold trim, yes, but mostly white. A few chairs accompany a large, incredibly comfortable queen bed. You spend most of eternity sleeping. But every now and then you wake up and do some thinking and experience consciousness for a bit, just so your soul can reaffirm it’s own existence, you see. Before long, it’s back to bed for more endless restful dreaming.

Chess Knight 2

Chess Knight 2

I got this on sale at 70% off. It is just a very simple chess game that works. If you don’t have a Chess game then this is worth it. I didn’t and haven’t played Chess on the computer since Yahoo chat was popular 18 years ago. I can’t compare this to anything up to date. If you want to play against a computer in a fast game than Chess Knight 2 does it. By fast, I mean easy to understand, launch and play your 1st game without really much to learn about the software. You can’t play a serious game of chess with non standard pieces. You think about which pieces is what while thinking about the best moves. I knew this before I got it. That is just a sales gimmick. It does have the standard pieces in 3D and that is why I brought it. Move the king 2 to the right and it castles. You can promote your pawn to queen automatically by making it to the last row. Just move the piece in a legal way and it does what it is suppose to do. The game has very few options. 4 levels, so far just played the 1st two. There is a music on/off and an undo button, new game and menu button. A info button to tell you about each piece. As far as multiplayer, It just doesn’t seems to have that option. There is a game option to take turns on the same PC using the mouse. So I would say that is the local multiplayer. I do not see a way to host a game or join any friends. I would have to say it does not have Multiplayer or split screen at this point. It still may be in the works since it is advertised to have it. It doesn’t have any instructions. The buttons have icon pictures on them and the pictures on the buttons make sense. I think the game might have been made by programmers that speak another language. I wish there was a button to see the computers last move. It moves fast and sometimes I miss it.

“EVEN CHESS TITANS ON WINDOWS IS BETTER”

Trying to find good chess game that is not against another human is pretty difficult to be honest. Steam doesn’t have much of them, and those which are here are below-average. Chess Titans which is free to everybody who have Windows is way more advanced than this.

Me myself, I’m proud chess player. I love chess. I used to play chess as a kid. I used to go to some chess courses when I was in elementary school. But chess is not appreciated by majority. Not even by my mother LOL. She’s saying it’s useless but she’s watching television garbage whole freaking day. Anyway, people who thinks that chess is game of nerds and geeks is literally and simply faggot. Take this L.

Chess++

Chess++

If you like chess and want to blow your mind with new dimensions then Chess++ is the way. I like the fact it has a step by step tutorial and introduces a new piece- “The Unicorn”. It would be nice if you could see the computer evaluation of the position or ask for hints for the best move. It would also be nice to see it linked to an online vender/server like: chess.com, lichess.org, chess24.com or freechess.org. I can’t wait for a VR version! I got the game as an early release and stream games looking for best strategy and tactics at: https://www.twitch.tv/chessplayerb4 I definitely recommend it for hours of mind blowing fun.

“Raumschach (German for Space Chess) is one of the first three-dimensional chess variants and the first to survive until present times. It was invented by Herr Doktor Ferdinand Maack in 1907. Maack first experimented with an 8x8x8 array but later determined that a 5x5x5 array yields a nicer game. Maack founded a Raumschach club in Hamburg in 1919, which remained active until the Second World War.”

Not bad, but needs better camera controls. After all, rotating the camera around the board is more important than rotating the camera itself or moving it in a plane.

Cooperative Chess

Cooperative Chess

When your friends win, you win.

Co-op Chess occurs in rounds, and in each round you must occupy all the “!” squares.

Achieve checkmate for either side and you both win!

If you’ve read this far, you must want some feature details

  • Customizable difficulty.

  • Single-player mode if you want to learn in a safe place (or if that’s just your thing).

  • Avatar customization unlocked by completing achievements.

  • Private games with friends.

  • Quality of life improvements beyond what’s normal for Chess apps

Cooperative Chess is part of what has retroactively been termed a “molasses jam” run by the Bay Area Dev Collective. The theme of the jam was to make a violent genre non-violent. Somehow the idea of co-op chess came up during a brainstorming session, and I knew immediately that I had to figure out how to make it work. And now you and a friend get to experience it yourselves.

The other molasses game jam games are also on steam:

Fritz for Fun 13 is the best chess program I have played. Prior to this I played fritz 5.32 as white and Windows chess as black. In friend mode the program is quite sharp without being impossible. I’ve only played 3 games so far and each of them was very instructive. Fritz pushes the margin and makes you think. It doesn’t play mechanically where you have to survive 20 moves then it makes an obvious blunder. It plays a full game and not a gauntlet you have to survive through. The 3d chess pieces and manual board orientation offers the perfect viewing angle as if you yourself were leaning over a chess board pondering.

Hang The Kings

Hang The Kings

The king squirms in his throne and stares with tooth-picked eyes at the fool. “Th-they—“ He clears his throat with a booming cough, gasping and trembling as he hears its echo pounding through the stone corridors. “They don’t plan to actually hang me?”

“Neh!”

“Yet they fly those banners: HANG THE KING!.”

“Yeh!”

“What is their plan? Sayeth thee!”

The fool performs a card trick where he makes the kings disappear, and the deck suddenly has 4 more queens than it previously did. The king’s face reddens as he accuses the fool of conspiracy, but the Fool points out that the jokers weren’t in the deck, so there’s nothing to worry about. The king isn’t sure if the fool’s argument makes sense, but he sinks into his throne and tenses the muscles in his face so as not to show his urge to cry.

  • Interesting concept

  • Pieces design is gorgeous

+- Level design is okay. It was good enough to have me played through to the end, but honestly, most of the puzzles are kind of the same. There are a few interesting ideas, but definitely fewer than levels.

It was somewhat challenging and interesting to learn how to solve such puzzles. However, after you get the idea, there are 3-4 key pieces you need to find to solve a level, and it is kinda fun, but the rest of the puzzle is just doing chores.

Check vs Mate

Check vs Mate

I like it, but I love chess. If you like chess, don’t let the other reviews keep you from trying it. It have interesting chess problems and puts a little twist on the game of chess, but just enough. Graphics are superb and music is good. Chess rules still apply. You can play regular classic chess or choose games like the attacking piece becomes the opposite color. Also there are options of having a mini type game or combat when fighting for over a square. I like the chaos type mode where the board arrangement looks insane! Pawns scattered, sometimes two or three queens. Black and white pieces are mixed up, kings unprotected and it’s very challenging to play.

Highly Disapointed. Where to begin? On the lower levels, the game is way to easy. On the higher levels, the computer will (not always) but often, make a completely unexpected move like move the King forward (early in the game) to cover the bishop, and then move the king back on its next move. It will even sometimes on its next movet decide to cover the same bishop again. Also early in the game, I capture the computers Queen with mine. My Queen is not covered. This is known as a Queen Trade. When I capture the computer’s Queen, stading next to the computer’s King, the King runs away? I used to teach Chess to kids as young as 4 years old; otherwise you’d hear me say, I have never seen that. On the highest level, the computer takes several minutes to make a move. When the 7th move was exceeding 10 minutes, I quit the game.

Guess what – you can’t castle or play the AI as black. Can’t flip sides to play as black, either. If that doesn’t get fixed, it’s not chess. If the developer fixed the castling issue and made sure that en passant is there, then okay, one dollar might be reasonable. Right now it’s just a scam to steal some money from people.
