PrisonShow

The story is set in a dystopic world. Our main character is a journalist that, hate the “President” when he gives a controversial speech. She calls him an idiot and gets arrested. She is then given a chance for a better place if she can complete the contest alive. The contest is made through several stages, each stage has traps and challenges similar to ones in old platformer games. The player must memorize the patterns to complete levels. The game is hard according to testers thus we didn’t add any difficulty settings for now. In the game, some levels have timers and extra challenges. For example, if the player misses all shots, they need to restart the level.

Lotto Life

Lotto Life

Have you ever wondered if you could win the lottery? Here’s a chance to test that luck, without losing your shirt in the process. Lotto Life is an authentic lottery simulator similar to state-run lotteries.

Welcome to Ys, a modern city under the auspices of Lotto Life Megacorporation. Every day, in real time, a winning number is drawn for the in-game lottery. Buy tickets, read the daily newspaper, go to work, and maybe win big! Fail to pay the rent, though, and you’re looking at a new life (or perma-death, if you like) in debtor’s prison.

In line with simulating the wait-and-see experience of playing the lottery, this game plays out at a slow pace. Most days your session can take around 5 minutes to complete, and then real time must pass before more can be done.

Please note that this is a game, with no actual real-life cash payout in the event of picking a winning ticket.

Darkarta: A Broken Heart’s Quest Collector’s Edition

Darkarta: A Broken Heart’s Quest Collector’s Edition

This game is marketed as a “hidden object” “adventure” and a “point and click” game. I can honestly say that this is the first time I would consider that an okay mix. I generally do not view hidden object games as something that should be in the point and click adventure game category. To me a point and click adventure involves exploring an area, having an inventory (which you generally use to solve puzzles and sometimes have to interact with in your inventory), talking with NPCs, solving puzzles, and a strong storyline. Most Hidden Object games don’t really have an inventory don’t usually involve conversations with characters, usually have a sort of weak story, and usually only have minor mini-games if at all. That’s where this game seems to cross the lines a little. It has some very minor dialogue, let’s you wander through several areas where you need to collect things that you use to solve puzzles in other areas (sometimes you need to interact with them in your inventory), and for a hidden object game very few of the puzzles in the game are actually a hidden object puzzle. Even when you are presented with a hidden object puzzle it generally gives you an option to switch to a match 3 game instead. The story is actually very rich and you slowly discover it through various objects and cutscenes as you play through the game. The additional memory objects can add even more story element to the mother daughter relationship between the min character (Mary) and her daughter Sophia. I’m still not sure I’d call this a Point and Click Adventure but, it definitely comes close. It’s more than an interactive storybook and certainly a puzzle game that goes well beyond your normal hidden object game.

The key for this game was provided by the devs for reviewing. The review and opinions are my own and have been not been influence by this.

Darkarta: A Broken Heart’s Quest is a puzzle game from India which has the look and feel of a HOG, except with a variety of puzzles. I quite enjoyed the array of puzzles provided. While I can’t say I enjoyed each puzzle type individually, you would generally only be given a certain type of puzzle once, so enduring a disliked puzzle will usually be over quickly. The variety of puzzles to me also felt like a bit of a double-edged sword. While I appreciate the use of variety helps to remove the feeling of doing the same thing over, it also made it feel somewhat unfocused. So, was this a case of the game not being able to win? Liking the variety but criticising it for it? Not sure exactly why, but something just felt a little off with only doing puzzle types once. Usually in puzzle games, they introduce a puzzle concept to you and “train” you on it, ramping the difficulty as it went. Perhaps for me then, I would rather have had SOME variety in the puzzle type, but not so much that most types felt like a disposable one-use? YMMV of course.

There is not one guide, not one video, and this game doesnt even show up on a search engine. Do you know why? Because the developers made it so hard its intended to piss you off so bad you break something.

The double jump doesn’t always work, but the game itself is fun. There are no settings in menu. Don’t expect it to be easy, it’s quite hard and will require some skill. But for 2€ it’s very good little platform shooter.

I’ve spent almost two hours exploring this game. It successfully simulates the experience of walking through a real museum and examining the exhibits, only here the latter comprise everyday objects and their stories are fairy tales; and very well-written ones at that. The graphics are pretty and the soundtrack is nice. Do play it. I suggest that you make note of which doors you went through and then replay it choosing a different route to get more stories. See how many playthroughs it takes you to visit all 15 rooms in the museum and see all 12 stories. Use a mouse though, at least my trackpad doesn’t seem to like this game for some reason.

I stumbled upon this game back when it had no user reviews, and decided to check it out out of sheer curiosity. I didn’t really expect much from the game besides some pretty visuals, but I was surprised at the quality of the short stories that I read, as well as the experience as a whole. It is a fairly simple game, you walk around some rooms, read some (very good) short stories, and then explore a new room that links to the story you just read. I’m not quite sure if the choice of door you make in each room makes a difference, but I found the game an incredibly enjoyable experience. I would reccomend this game to those who enjoy reading, as well as those who like a more surreal gaming experience. Those that are looking for a long game with complex mechanics won’t find that here. It’s a short little game, likely not lasting you longer than half an hour, but one I found quite enjoyable, and I eagerly await to see what the developers will make next.

So you’ve read the description and now you’re down in the comments looking for answers. Check out my video on the game to see the gameplay and get a feel for if this game is for you.

Warning I played this game in English, playing the game in it’s original language (Russian) may yield a different opinion.

I am not sure what DVOREC means or stands for, but I can tell you what I got from it. Loading up the game to the title screen makes it look like some sort of Russian Soap opera, then the images change to police and swat teams arresting people and marching in the street. So there’s that, also the English localization of the game is really bad so you’ll have to read and reread sentences to understand what is trying to be conveyed. Plus there are plenty of words that didn’t get translated so I had no clue what’s being said or where I need to go. The game crashed on me several times, I was fortunate it only crashed once during the recording of my video. It’s a typical RPG game with random battle fights, narrative driven missions and tongue in cheek dialogue. If know Russian or really love Russian culture; then this is the game for you. At a price point of $1(US), you can try the game out for yourself but I cannot recommend it as there are better options for that money.
