Occult Crime Police
Personally I don’t know the “Phoenix Wright” game(s) that many reviewers are referring to.
I just think that this game was fun. It has amusing animations, some good dialogue and funny moments.
This game’s basically a visual novel-type with a few “puzzles” that involve presenting evidence to contradict vitness statements.
Playing time’s around 5 hours.

It’s criminal that this game is free. It’s basically an indie take on Phoenix Wright, done really well. It took me 5 hours to play (and I was streaming and reading the dialogue aloud, so a normal play would probably be shorter), but it was a memorable experience. Great writing, interesting characters, notable plot twists, and great animation and sound.
It’s clearly the setup for a full-length series, so I am eager to see that manifest. I’ll happily toss a few dollars to the devs via their optional cosmetic DLC too; they earned it with this.

The Curse of Illmoore Bay
Played the demo ROM (available for free at Second Dimensions website) for much longer. Bought the PC version so I could play on the big screen with an Xbox joystick. Installed very fast with a simple launcher for help docs. But, the joystick binding worked without additional configuration on my end. Gameplay is very old school platforming. Get used to planning out your routes and conserving shots. Saving keeps the old school difficulty tolerable. Music and graphics match perfectly with that 90’s ska punk rock vibe. Haven’t delved into the awards or ?????????? mystery features but if they’re anything like Bomb on Basic City features I’m all for it. About the only complaint I can dredge up is: the 3 kids all feel the same to start. Oh, and sometimes the basic attack does less damage than you think. But, I could also chalk those quibbles up to failing retro gamer skills :)

A retro Lovecraft themed FPS that I was really glad to see got a demo in the last Steam Next Fest - one of my favourites - and the main product is more of that eldritch goodness.
You play a priest coming to an Innsmouth style town looking for answers and packing some serious faith lead. You will have access to upgradeable weapons in the form of a:

tl;dr, good game at present, can be a great game with some improvements - solid 7/10 currently. I really liked it and I’m looking forward to more.

Game controls very well. Character is fast and fluid, which suits the backpedal/strafe style required.

Graphics are excellent. Enemy design is unique and enemy telegraphing is fairly clear. Level aesthetics are varied.

Charge
You play as a silent protagonist armed with a charge gun, and your ultimate goal is to progress through all levels presented by the game. Each level is a room that has only one exit, and your goal is to overcome any obstacles (such as humanly unreachable platforms or remotely-controlled closed doors) to reach that exit and progress to the next level.
To your help you have charge gun, cube and charge-proof walls (emitting light-blue segments). Charge gun is capable of positively or negatively charging cube and charge-proof walls. Depending on the charges applied, the interaction between them will be different:
-
if cube and wall have opposite charges - cube will attract and eventually static cling to the wall;
-
otherwise (alike charges) cube will repel away from the wall.
The closer those are, the stronger the effect.
There are major restrictions when it comes to charging objects:
-
cube can either be positively OR negatively charged at the same time, or neutral;
-
only one wall charge of the same sign can exist at the same time, and applying new alike wall charge to another location removes old.
You will need to figure out how to take advantage of these tools and manipulate objects to progress through. Almost every level forces you to learn a new way of using these tools, and some of the mechanics that you already learned in previous levels are mixed in.
Polter Pals
Making friends in the afterlife is a little different.
You play as a lonely ghost with the power to possess the living. Surrounded by Oomans who cannot see you, you must use this power to steer them into comically fatal accidents and an early friendship, freeing the friendly ghosts within them. Each level is a puzzle diorama, styled after classic children’s stop-motion cartoons, where you have to figure out how to make all the friends using the available hazards.
