McDROID

McDROID

A Tower Defense game, between average and good. Graphics are colourful, but need a powerfull hardware to run, even in low quality; when screen has plenty of action, can cause lags and crashes.

Mechanics is right; has only 5 towers to choose, but each has 4 possible upgrades. Also there is 5 kinds of powerfull items, with a crescent price by use. Towers and items must be unblocked by ingame progress. The economy is based in a mixed system of farming and gems, to buy towers, upgrades and items.

McDROID is one of the two most imaginative tower defense games I’ve played in a long time. It’s a timeless story about you (a puppy-like robot named McDROID) and your friend SHUTTLE crash-landing on the dying Planet M. You must plant and harvest strawberries as a form of currency to build and upgrade towers to fight off the corrupted creatures that have taken a stronghold on Planet M. This may really sound strange, but it’s also a truck load of fun!

Maintaining your calm, like John Spartan, is crazy essential to McDROID. If you don’t keep a clear head you’ll start forgetting to maintain your defenses so you can gather stuff or you’ll forget about gathering strawberries and have nothing to buy towers with. Things can go from good to “Oh sweet mother! Where did all THAT come from!?!” fairly quickly. That’s part of the strategy/challenge though.

Robo’s World: The Zarnok Fortress

Robo’s World: The Zarnok Fortress

Robo’s World: The Zarnok Fortress is yet another low quality retro pixel platformer infesting Steam. In this one, you play a robot or something, but it’s hard to tell because the controls don’t work properly. I couldn’t even use the menu to see if I could get fullscreen going. Could it be because I had a HOTAS plugged in and it assumed it was a gamepad? Irrelevant, because that kind of laziness from the developers isn’t acceptable.

If you can’t get the basics right, you don’t get a thumbs up in your reviews.

Great gameplay, challenging but rewarding. Love the retro platform style, and the sound to accompany it is fantastic. The adventure itself is open-ended, leading to all sorts of paths through the world as you progress towards the ship’s core. I would definitely recommend picking this game up and seeing for yourself. Tons of fun!

Laser Disco Defenders

Laser Disco Defenders

Great game - colourful and fun retro-laser shootout. Nice and difficult, too - yet as the levels are procedurally generated you don’t get bored!

LDD’s most unique dynamic is that your shots (and enemy shots) never dissappear and stay lethally bouncing around the game so you end up spending a lot of time dodging your own laser beams… it lends itsself to a lot of interesting strategies - do you just fire off a couple and be patient and wait for them to blast the enemy (boring) or do you go in guns blazing and get out before you can be hit by the ricochets? It’s up to you!

Laser Disco Defenders

DISCLAIMER: I received this product for no cost for the purpose of reviewing. However, this does not affect my views and opinions of the game.

Laser Disco Defenders is a 2D twin-stick shooter with bullet-hell elements. You play as one of many “disco defenders”, each with their own benefits and disadvantages. You navigate your defender through each stage destroying all of the enemies in order to progress to the next area. You have to dodge enemy fire, as well as your OWN shots which is where a lot of the skill comes into play.

Galaxy Tales: Story of Rapunzel

Galaxy Tales: Story of Rapunzel

As a fan of wayforward games, this feels like a cross between shantae and mighty switch force.

it’s first and foremost a puzzle platformer. You solve puzzle rooms using your hair whip and dash abilities. There are a few enemies, but they’re really not a threat until much later levels, and even then they aren’t really. The stage hazards are much more likely to kill you than enemies.

The game has 7 areas, of which 6 are playable right now. each area has 4 stages and a boss stage. Our protagonist, Repunzel is an android super battery or something, and for some reason has some sort of prehensile hair, like shantae from wayforward. You use your hair to grab enemies and throw thing, along with grabbing little boost icons, that will fling you in a direction. you also have a dash move that can be performed once in the air, and has a cool down on the ground. during the dash, you’re invulnerable and damage whatever you touch.

Brush Up VR

Brush Up VR

Some of the best VR I’ve experienced - and its good for you. Great example of room-scale VR. Some mighty fine brush wiggles. Nice job guys.

This is the perfect amount of VR for a dollar. It’s a got a nice environment (although you cannot locomote), that changes when the game is active, I liked that. The plot is as follows. I member of Blue Man group is staying at your house. Dummy forgot his toothbrush, and you will not lend him yours (because it would turn blue). So you use the brush that is for toilets, and you scrub off the plaque. The controller shakes, and it was kinda fun!

Where’s My Lunch?!

Where’s My Lunch?!

Easily the best game released in 2021. The mechanics are incredible, the animation is beautiful, and the voice acting is beyond anything I’ve ever seen. I am so excited for when I get to eat my next lunch. Thank you.

Boom Bits

Boom Bits

As a beginner gamer it’s not always easy to find an interesting game that’s still fun to play and not frustrating. This game is very hard for me but, at the same time, the challenge I’m facing isn’t frustrating. The graphics in this game are very realistic and believable and the characters are just freaking cute. I can only recommend this game and promise you that you will not regret it. Well, perhaps you are losing your time doing other things you should be doing because you got hooked in this game. lol!!!
