Her Majesty’s Ship

Her Majesty’s Ship

First, this game is not FTL on wooden ships. This game is a real-time management/strategy game with no tactical pause. The game is very similar to FTL but has a more MACRO approach to crew management then the Micro approach that FTL had.

I really enjoy this game and it is a great game. My game preferences run towards turn-based and tactical pause games. I really do not like RTS games whatsoever.

Although this game is a real-time strategy game at its core, it is very manageable and approachable. This game has captivated me.

Her Majesty’s Ship - Troubled Waters but hopefully smoother sailing on the horizon

I am recommending this title mainly because I really like the idea behind it - managing a ship of the Royal Navy in detailed fashion - but have reservations in doing so.

The game is all too brief at this point and I have noted that other players have requested an endless mode, a correction I heartily endorse and support.

Combat is rather too simplistic and does seem dependent upon RNG factors, outside of already having a vessel well-stocked with powder and eventually a complement of marines.

Battle Crate Simulator

Battle Crate Simulator

In this box-by-box physics simulation, you build ships out of crates to blast enemies and carry cargo. With two modes available, work your way up from a dingy to a battleship in adventure mode or arrange a battle in the sandbox!

Build ships using an array of components with different stats and an assortment of weapons with their own strengths and weaknesses. Each box moves independently so damage to any ship will greatly affect it’s performance; using the targeting feature, you can instruct your ship’s hardpoints to strike critical blows. You are also able to save and load your designs into any mode, allowing you to test your adventure mode designs in sandbox battles to reveal their weaknesses. This game was designed to be very “menu-light”, so most interaction takes place directly with visual objects to create a smooth and simple take on the vehicular build-and-battle genre.

Available Modes

1. Adventure Mode

  • Build a ship with limited supplies and try to survive on the open sea!

  • Trade goods from markets by transporting supplies in custom built freighter ships.

  • Arm you ship and fight the fleets of ambient ships you’ll encounter.

  • Accept quests to fight challenging enemy designs and conquer the seas.

In adventure mode, a open world environment awaits for you to explore with custom battle crate ships. By trading, stealing goods from NPC ships or scraping enemy ships you defeat, you can earn resources to unlock new crates and build bigger ships. Random encounters on the open sea present challenges and opportunities; you may find a cargo ship worth pillaging or aggressive pirates may spill your goods into the sea!

2. Sandbox Mode

  • Create a custom battle with as many object as you’d like.

  • Set teams and join either by starting the game.

  • Restart will reset your designs so you can tweak and start it again!

In sandbox mode, you can create custom battles with your own ship designs. Set up two opposing fleets and watch them battle to the end. Want to tweak something shortly after starting? No worries, just reset and all your setup work is preserved!

Good game, sailing and battle very similar to the old Sid Meier “pirates!”. Other than full controller support, there’s no reason to play this if you have pirates! I’m also not going to harp on things that are commonly addressed in other reviews (i.e. lack of camera rotate).

No ship boarding, only sinking. Also, aiming is bad - the old game(s) had a larger margin of error - in this game your aim needs to be perfect. Game would benefit from some lines to help aim cannons and abilities (example, voodoo boom).

DREAMERS

Fetch Your Adventures

DREAMERS will lead you on an emotional journey into a colorful adventure, where will be also adversities, moments of doubts, and powerful discoveries.

All starting with a mysterious letter from grandma, that will force the protagonist to explore more than his known land.

The game is designed as a single-player adventure where on some levels it’s possible to set the multi-character option in co-op, using the split-screen. In addition to the main and secondary quests, there will be vehicles to upgrade, maps, and collectible items, to expand your gaming experience.

The game environment is pretty detailed and offers hours of humoristic dialogs, a balanced level of difficulty, and no game over. DREAMERS is a game designed for an audience that loves classic games but is also a fresh and modern experience for players that discover adventures for the first time.

Underwater Life

Underwater Life

Looks like I get to write the first review for this “game”. Underwater Life is a lazy 2D retro style arcade game where you control a small fish in a 2D aquarium and must avoid bigger fish. Eat algae to increase your level so you can eat smaller fish as well. That’s all there is to it.

This is a basic template flip made with the awful GameMaker Studio 2, resulting in a very mediocre experience. Resolution and controls are locked, gameplay is janky, and the game art is mediocre.

These kind of video game construction kits aren’t intended to make commercially viable games, they’re just for sharing with friends and teaching some elements of game making. The quality of this shovelware is far beneath anything that should be published on Steam. The $10 USD price tag for “game” stamped out with a construction kit is just a joke.

Amazing. Was a big fan of this game when it just came out back in the 90s. Despite the absolutely horrible (by modern standards) graphics, the gameplay is great. REALLY needs a companion instructional guide though, on how to play :)

There is a Russian guide on the web (original game is by a Russian studio), which is fine for me, but I coudn’t find an English one. Maybe I will write one.

In my view, this is the best naval battle game ever made. If you liked “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag” and want more ships, trading & more details to the naval battles, then this game is for you.

Warships On The Halloween Night

Warships On The Halloween Night

Actually the game is kind of fair for what it is , which is a rather poor version of Raptor/Tyrian 2000 -

That said then I think that the game needs better customization options for settings, including ability to turn off music without turning off other sound, custom keyboard settings option , and last but not least a sensitivity setting for the sideways movement , at least sensitivity for short time key press to allow to better position adjustment without banging into side walls or other stuff.

Real player with 0.2 hrs in game

Warships on the Halloween Night is a 2D top down vertical scrolling retro pixel bullet hell shmup. Control a warship with 4 different weapon types (and limited ammo) and shoot warships and evil pumpkins, because I guess those were the only game assets the developers could rip off from wherever.

Gameplay here is on par with the graphics and delivery… extremely bad. They chose to use obsolete retro pixel “art” as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It’s unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. Resolution and controls are locked. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC.

Boat Crew

Boat Crew

Boat Crew

Boat Crew is an action-packed singleplayer game that is all about leading your men to bring out the best in them in the field of battle. You’re given charge of a

PT boat, one of many, in the Pacific, and sent against the Imperial Japanese Navy in the forefront of the Pacific War.

Sometimes through bravery and sometimes through guile, you’ll take on ever stronger enemy forces and come out on top. Manage your people and your resources; beg, borrow, and steal, and equip yourself from a wide variety of tools available to bring your campaign to a victorious conclusion.

Prioritize your acquisitions, make connections, and customize your ship’s capabilities to your taste. Above all else, care for your crew; Experienced sailors are in short supply in the largest naval front in the history of mankind. Sometimes the best option is to live to fight another day.

Key Features

Crew Management: In Boat Crew, you are not the boat herself but her commander, with all the associated responsibilities and privileges. Most tasks will be delegated to your trusty crewmen, and it’s up to you to make sure they’re up to the task.

Jury-Rigged: With distances vast and ships spread thin, you’re afforded a substantial degree of autonomy. Anti-tank guns and light mortars are only some of the weapons you can add to your boat that would be considered unusual, and there is ample room for innovation. The only two rules are, make sure you are still floating, and get the job done!

Tested in Battle: Training teaches a man to keep his head down, but its experience that teaches him when he can start handing out the hurt. Crack troops are far more lethal than green recruits, and will be capable of abilities otherwise unavailable to less experienced crewmen.

Live and Teach: Beyond being good fighters, your veterans also have much to teach to their replacements. Experienced soldiers will set a baseline crew experience and will impart their lethality on any replacements given some time.

Fortunes of War: War has luck of its own, and industrialized total war is a different story entirely. Despite all caution and planning, some of your most trusted members will be lost at some point. It’s up to you and your skills as the commander to find appropriate replacements and train them in time for larger engagements.

Applied Science: Few things inspire innovation as much as war does, and sometimes you may find yourself pressed to be the first to employ a new technology in the field. Following the expansive tech tree will dramatically improve your crew’s combat prowess; just make sure to prioritize appropriately.

Grand Campaign: Fight numerous surface actions that range from night raids and coastal fire support to search and destroy. Your success in these battles will improve your clout and your crew’s experience, increasing the options available to you in future battles and providing more daring operations.

A really funny party/local game! Play with an audience for entertaining results. Recommended if you have friends to play with, if not remote play and solo are still an option!

Just… Fantastic and extremely underrated.

This game may not seem like much when you first test it out, but as you continue playing you realise the depth and sheer strategy and mind games this game possesses and reflects on to the 2 of you playing.

And since you only need one other player, remote play is actually very smooth and easy to carry out, since you don’t have to worry with the burden of trying to stream to multiple people at once. Also, the game isn’t demanding for the stream at least from my experience, so the people you play with should have a really smooth experience for the most part.
