First and foremost, this game initially was not what I had expected. I thought there was a problem with my controllers for a moment but found out this is escentially a HMD only tracked game.

With that said, the game plays like a VR mobile game. It reminded me of some games I had on the Gear VR before my Note 7 was recalled. :) So with that expectation and for what it is, it is a quick fun pickup and play arcade style game.

There are different game modes to choose from but I’ve mostly played in Arcade Mode only which is escentailly a minute and a half window to try and eat as many insects as possible within that amount of time while racking up combos to increase your scoring opportunity.

A nice game to play. Runs fine on my DK2 after I applied a fix that stops the HMD display turning grey due to SteamVRs boundaries not getting on with DK2. Sense of scale is really nice and it’s pretty daunting seeing that Stork looming over you in survival mode!. The art direction is really nice with each bug easily identifiable on a whim.

Would recommend to anyone with a VR headset.

It’s a very short game, but the dialogue in this game made me wish it was longer. Genuinely funny and enjoyable experience.

Bundle Kitt

Bundle Kitt

This is literally the best game I have ever played. It has an amazing soundtrack and stunning visuals with a deep and complex character with a profound character development arc. I was instantly taken in with Bundle Kitt, it was a perfect combination of cute and fun that left an aching desire to play more. I love this game and honestly cannot recommend it more, its a free, cheap game that will brighten your day and put a smile on your face. Thank you Bundle Kitt.

My Experience

OK, Bundle Kitt is fantastic. The speed at which the character moves and the abruptness of the mews are just perfect. There are many games that try to be funny, often through scripted jokes and cutscenes. The brilliant thing about Bundle Kitt is that it actually involves the player in the comedic timing. The scenes often don’t end until you meow, but once you do, they end immediately, like a jump cut. Bundle Kitt is one of the funniest games I’ve ever played. For the price of free, you should check it out.

As of writing, It’s the end of September 2021 and they finally dropped a huge content dump.

People can remove the tin hats and ease off talk of the game being a scam, which should be a relief to everyone.

As far as content goes, it’s changed significantly and has not only redeemed itself for the 2 year silence, but has surpassed expectations. Looking at the discussion forums and news threads, it appears the latest update has pleased many of the original backers. If you were unsure of the game’s development, worry no more. Clearly HandyGames has been working extremely hard over the last few years and is developing a real gem. It’s still in Early Access and hopefully that means there’s even more room for growth but, in all honesty, even if they only squash bugs and polish things between now and full release, what’s on offer now is well worth the money.

Well. They finally actually made a real game instead of having an unfinished 25 dollar demo posted for years with barely any communication.

And the game they’ve made? It’s pretty good! Watching your little villagers run around is endearing. There’s a decent variety of buildings and things you need to plop down. It’s the only VR game in this genre that I’m aware of which is any good. There’s a decent amount of levels which do force you to change up the way you prioritize what to build. And that alone makes this worth enough for the price.

Yi and the Thousand Moons

Yi and the Thousand Moons

Bought this game during the sales for around one € (euro); which should be the price for this game considering the duration of the gameplay…

BUT, when not considering the full price of € 2.39 and just looking at the game itself; then this game brought me totally back where “Dear Esther” took me all those years ago… the creation of a totally new genre. Where the game “Dear Esther” invented the storytelling / walking simulator, this game brings us the interactive musical. Even your footsteps create music (it took me some time to discover that as it’s done so gently that you almost don’t notice it).

Yi and the Thousand Moons is obviously made with so much passion that I get drawn into it immediately. It has to be said from the beginning of this review: this is a game centered around music, and you should make sure you like the music and singer in the trailer before you buy. The rest of the review is for you who like the music but still aren’t sure if you want the game.

The gameplay is basic, a walking simulator with a few instances of simple interaction. The graphics is a mostly empty world populated with a few block people, block houses and a block shamisen. Yet your brain is a pro at filling out those gaps, and the game looks beautiful within the constraints it operates in. And you know what else fills out the world? Music. We’re here for the interactive musical ride. The interaction is that you do different simple things to prod the music along, there are no choices or anything fancy like that going on. Yet to me it feels satisfying to release an arrow and hear the characters start to sing when my arrow hits its (non living) mark. The music fills the entire world and sometimes sends shivers down my spine. One song in particular gives me goose bumps every time. The game is short, and I keep coming back to it for replays to listen to the songs again.
