The Mims Beginning

The Mims Beginning Review

The Mims Beginning is a breath of fresh air in an increasingly stagnate gaming pool. At first glance, the game may look light and simple but very quickly you begin to see that this is a deep, well-designed strategy/god-mode game. The graphics are very detailed, the artwork is beautiful, the mechanics are flawless. If you think that because its a god-mode strategy game that it will be boring, then guess again. There is plenty of action/activities to keep you busy without having to micro-manage your units and economy. Research will increase the options and powers available during gameplay while continuing to upgrade and expand your alien colony. For any strategy gaming fan, I strongly recommend picking this game up. Most games are only moderately worth their sale prices, especially indie games. But this game is well worth the full price.

The Mims Beginning

DISCLAIMER: I received this product for no cost for the purpose of reviewing. However, this does not affect my views and opinions of the game.

The Mims Beginning reminds me a lot of the game “Spore”, mostly because of the art-style, but also because they’re both game about managing a tribe of alien lifeforms to complete certain goals. I won’t reveal too much about the story but basically you are a god of some-sort going from island to island, creating living conditions, protection and technology for the lost Mims. You, as the god, have various powers and abilities to aid the Mims as well. Like most real time strategy god games, The Mims Beginning has other elements implemented into game like structure/city building, unit and resource management, as well as upgrading buildings and units. There are two game modes, the campaign and survival.

I backed this game on Kickstarter and I think it is so much better than anticipated!

It is such a colourful and fun platfurmer game. The art in this game is amazing, with such attention to small details. The 2.5D is used creatively with monsters and boss levels. At the beginning I thought it would be a bit easy but the levels become more difficult and intriguing as you go along, as well as adding side missions and charming little surprises. I love playing it and even my husband was impressed by it. Highly recommend for enjoyable and lovely time.

Kickstarter backer here. Just started playing the game with my xbox controller and I love it. What a wonderful 2.5D platformer! I dig the color scheme so much, it’s so fun and whimsical and vibrant. There’s a balloon ability that you can basically use whenever you land, so you don’t have to collect any items to activate, which allows you to float–it’s a lot of fun! There’s plenty of secrets with hidden treasure and stuff to climb (so usually there’s a path above you you may want to explore as well).

KAPIA

KAPIA

The World Union collapsed, the nations are divided into coalitions “East” and “West”, a mysterious intelligent infection is forcing people to live under city lockdown. This is the world that needs saving. The world of KAPIA.

Amidst the chaos, Stefan, a retired pilot and a strong-willed grandfather, takes on the responsibility of ending the conflict. Little does he know his most powerful ally will be his little granddaughter, Reny.

  • Controller or Point-and-click

A traditional point and click flow with an easily accessible drop-down inventory. To make things more exciting we also added a first-person close-up menu where you can interact with various items.

Or play KAPIA with your controller and enjoy a modern game flow from your couch.

  • Play for both characters

People have different sides to them, and the same goes for characters in KAPIA. Discover the story from different perspectives as you play for both Stefan and Reny. Follow their own unique paths to achieve a common goal.

  • Unique 3D design

Enjoy a carefully crafted environment of medieval architecture and futuristic gadgets. Intelligent robots walk the streets of manually carved stone, power banks light up antique lamps, and typewriters serve as input devices for powerful computers.

  • Puzzles and mini-games

Logic and diversity was the key to our work on this most significant aspect of the game. Just like in traditional adventure game most puzzles are tied up with objects, but there are also conversational puzzles and a whole bunch of logical mini-games.

Lancelot’s Hangover: The Quest for the Holy Booze

Lancelot’s Hangover: The Quest for the Holy Booze

This game is a barrel bursting with absolute nonsense. And this is why it’s terrific.

The art style is simplistic but serves the humour very well, the puzzles aren’t hard, until the last chapter where it’s more of a “How much do you remember of the game you’ve played and the locations you’ve visited” luckily the game cuts off branches you don’t need to revisit so it doesn’t become annoying.

It’s a laugh and a half and definitely worth a look.

Do you have a sense for black humor? Then you have to play Lancelot’s Hangover. That seems familiar to me… anyway I would say even if you don’t have a sense for black humor you have to play it because it’s a great sexy adventure game. Everything is alright. I can’t complain. It reminded me a bit of my childhood when I was in the monastery and in the church. At that time there were unfortunately no naked women in the monastery. It also reminds me of Marilyn Manson when he says: I don’t like the drugs but the drugs like me. Lancelot should sing that, the sexy knight with beer (I recommend the Bavarian beer).

You will help Ludwig van Beethoven, Isaac Newton and Leonardo da Vinci while having a lot of fun, too.

Kelvin and the Infamous Machine

Kelvin and the Infamous Machine is a comedic Point & Click adventure game which was released in 2016, developed and published by Blyts . The game takes place in the old times through time traveling. You as the main character is now the only hope to rescue all the old geniuses and aid them back on track as they full-fill their masterpiece. The puzzles are simple and does not required to over think which i think is satisfying for who looking for casual gameplay. The strong story-line features 4 playable chapters which you can unlock them as you progress through the first chapter.

Chuck’s Challenge 3D 2020

Chuck’s Challenge 3D 2020

I had previously downvoted this game, citing many bugs and frustrations with the control scheme and the GUI. But after an incredible show of dedication from the developers in addressing and fixing (nearly) every one of my complaints in the “massive invisible” patch, I’m finally giving the game a thumbs-up. Very impressive, guys! Previously, I felt that this game might have perhaps gotten more attention and understanding as an “early access” title, but now it has earned its status as a finished product, one which can be built upon. I’m confident that the small number of remaining issues left will be addressed, and even if not, they do not detract too much from the game’s quality.

Huge nostalgic trip for me. When I was young (can’t remember when, when I was 8 years old or so I guess?), I used to play this game called Chip’s Challenge . It was a timed puzzle game with Sokoban elements. I never quite got to finish it as the levels grew too difficult for me near the end, but I remembered it fondly as one of the most favourite games I used to play. Hell, I remember being incredibly jubilant when my father helped me to beat Blobnet. Yeah, that infamous level with all the blobs.
