Big Action Mega Fight!

Big Action Mega Fight!

Big Action Mega Fight! is an interesting 2D game from the somewhat forgotten Beat ‘em up genre with the single player game mode. Once this type of games were very popular, Big Action Mega Fight! is undoubtedly one of the best games of this type.

The plot begins with Megatropolis, which is attacked by the new, cruel criminal gang “Clunks”. You play as Brick, a sports lover. When the “Clunks” gang kidnaps our best friend, our protagonist has to break through the entire city to save him.

The game offers more than 35 levels, typical for Beat ‘em up games are linear levels usually consisting of going to the right side of the screen. The initial levels are not a big challenge, and additionally they are not very diverse, sometimes there are more interesting maps with new types of enemies, unfortunately there is no chance to count on original solutions in this matter.

Big Action Mega Fight is a very simple beat-em-up, but it’s still fairly enjoyable, mainly due to the fun cartoony style, cheesy humour, and the classic feel that the music and sound effects bring. Oh, and it works well with an Xbox style controller - I used an 8Bitdo FC-30 Pro in xinput mode.

There’s a lot of short stages in Big Action Mega Fight, which start out incredibly easy but slowly get… less easy. Most stages simply have the objective of “kill all the goons” but every now and then you’ll get a stage where you have to “kill all the goons within a time limit”. I attempted to get a three star rating on every level, but the final level just felt impossible to achieve this, though it’s not hard to beat - it’s just hard to beat with the high score they expect of you to get three stars.

Billion Beat

Billion Beat

I love this game, the world is always in need of more Punch-Out-likes and this scratches every itch it has, and the music is insanely good.

Only thing that could drive people away is how gross the characters look but they grow on you after a while.

The combat is a lot more ‘groovy’ than Punch-Out, more rhythmesque, if you will. Feels more like dancing than it does straight up beating the shit out of someone.

Billion Beat is great. The visuals and music are on point. The gameplay follows the Punch-Out formula perfectly: time your punches and dodge or counter theirs. If you make a mistake, your character will take a bit to recover and that is more than enough time for your opponent to mess you up, so learn from coach Baby T and DON’T JUST MASH THE BUTTONS!

There’s also a bunch of stuff to keep things fresh like “hype moves”, items and even progression. Successfully landing a regular punch rewards you with a bit of energy and you need that energy to dish out the heavy punishment, so you quickly start to get into this flow of dodging and countering to build up your energy until you can finally let your hands fly.

Bad game, ai jump on you but don’t attack. Combat is very bad, movement also the same. No story or purpose, what are you supposed to be doing in this game? “Chimes PvP is dynamic, if you want to fight hand to hand go for it! Or do you want to do tricks like bashing the enemy into something, pulling out your sword and shoving the enemy into the great abyss.” Hand to hand is litterally the characters waving their arms, the swords are the same thing. Fixes the game needs: Better AI, no taking damage when running, better fighting and more purpose to keep players playing and doing things, especially single player.

Retro Classix: Joe & Mac Returns

Retro Classix: Joe & Mac Returns

I feel like a lot could be done for this game, on a more presentable approach.

Joe and Mac plays a lot like Bubble Bobble, except with a prehistoric theme, which is fantastic on it’s own. You play as either Joe or Mac, two cavemen that rescue cave women from the threats of cutesy enemies. It’s simple enough. I really do dig this game from it’s gameplay to it’s visuals, with it’s nice charming, colorful arcade graphics. Very easy to get into, even though sometimes there’ll be frustrating BS moments in the game like expecting you to be quicker than the hitscan or so.

Easy Single Screen Fun !

Platformers back in the 1980’s and the early 1990’s were often difficult (especially compared to games being released these days). Sometimes we just needed to relax and play something easy and fun in order to mix things up.

Enter ‘Joe & Mac Returns’, released in the year 1994.

This game has the classic 1980’s single screen gameplay, but with all the bells and whistles of the 1990’s.

Expect at least an hour of fun, a few bosses and some good old fashioned “cheeky” humor.

Scufflers

Scufflers

A nonsensical, action beat ‘em up wherein characters must fight to stay on-screen, avoiding ring-outs. Each character represents a video game category, minus the twin game streamers. There’s a move where a character who represents simulation games changes it depending on the time of day it is. There are specials such as using a part of a claw machine to help you catch yourself while you control the claw. Then there’s the twin streamers, who can livestream one attack from wherever they left their laptop at. The game features seven playable characters and a varied soundtrack.

Teratopia

Teratopia

Teratopia Is a grate game why well 1. the characters are wacky and I love them 2. the classes are cool although I think the engineers should build turrets 3. love the boss music. I rate this game 10/10 I would love to be a sequel.

Real player with 17.1 hrs in game

Introduction

Even though the only thing I was expecting from Teratopia was mindless fun for a few hours, which this action brawler provided, I was still a bit disappointed. Why is that? The game has decent foundations for various mechanics, which piqued my interest at first. Unfortunately, it is afraid to fully commit to them. And while that does not necessarily mean that it is an inferior approach, the result is just a bit repetitive mediocre game. And that is quite a shame.
