The Last Roman Village

The Last Roman Village

I got the chance to play the demo of this game as an early build thanks to the awesome guys over at the Twin Stone Studio, for letting me play and produce some game play footage it was a pleasure to play in such early game. The music of the game is beautiful and easy on the ears, The format of waves is very fun and will get harder, The artwork is outstanding colourful and amazing very easy on the eyes, This game is very family friendly and has easy to get to grips with controls, The game play is very smooth in all this game to me has got everything I could ask for.

Penultimate final review updated early April 2020 (I’ve still got some updating to do as this review is based on the early ‘work in progress’ version, plus I’ve repeated myself in several places. I don’t know when I’ll be posting the final version, but it will be eventually.)

In Brief:

The Last Roman Village is a strategy defense game that gives freedom to develop a whole Roman city from scratch and to wisely choose the way to defend it. The game allows players to experience a variety of options and creativity. Side scrolling defense games are one of my favorite types of games (next to Breakouts, Shmups and top down TD games). You can see a few videos of game play HERE , HERE , HERE

Got this game because I love devil daggers. The soundtrack is awesome and the gameplay has a really unique twist.

Overall, I feel the potential and the charm of this game are buried too deeply beneath absolutely horrible visual clarity and the frustration of, for a lack of better words, total bullshit deaths completely outside of player control.

Shillelagh is held back by issues that are few in number but quite significant in effect. My biggest frustration currently is that it seems everything in the game has collision and can push you around. The trees popping up, the spirits you launch at enemies, the little floating stone fragments that appear when enemies burst through the rock, and probably more. On the handful of runs I’ve tried, an enemy has killed me only once. Every other run I’ve had end did so due to a tree bursting up beneath me unexpectedly and shoving me off the arena with no chance for me to react, or a single, tiny out of place floating stone bumping me into a pit. I don’t feel like I died because I made a mistake - I died because of something stupid I have absolutely no ability to influence and no possible method of reacting to. It feels like shit and it’s rapidly killing my ability to enjoy the game even this early on.

Warriors of the Nile 2

Warriors of the Nile 2

Warriors of the Nile are back!

Building up on the original version’s [Turn-based Strategy+Roguelite] framework, in Warriors of the Nile 2 you will once again experience iconic fast-paced, exhilarating combat. This time, you will lead warriors blessed by Egyptian gods and fight against the invading Roman army.

Choose your adventure route. Strategize and make preparations amidst ever-changing stage conditions, then move with precision as you fire away. Create a unique skill build by choosing from an array of skill tablets.

What’s different from the original version is, in the new Warriors of the Nile squad, each character possesses a trademark skillset. Not only have attack modes changed, but the new feature-packed individual system will bring an all-new dynamic into the game.

Choose a suitable skillset tablet for you, be it making a clean sweep at the battlefield, using multi-phased attacks and chain attacks to break through enemy lines, or using charge attack leaps to take out the back row……

Awaken the gods' blessings at key moments to unleash Miracle and turn the tides in your favor!

  • Explore ruins, visit merchants, and challenge the arena in adventure mode;

  • Light up carvings to gain more battle bonuses;

  • Build a capital and restore the glory of pharaohs past;

If a potential buyer is reading this, I recommend reading the conclusion paragraph first.

If this is someone who has purchased and played this game already, I want you to add any more bugs/recommendations to the list in the comments.

Game-Breaking Bugs

-When the AI jumps, it results in them gaining essence (two turns of sleep) while the player loses essence for jumping.

-When using a ranged weapon, the only way to access your inventory for potions is if you get close to the enemy that only allows access to inventory if out of range, which for a bow is anywhere but in close range.

Well okay, first time ill write a long review.

I have played around 20 hours and gotta say it wasnt bad, like the game could be really good IF there wasnt so much buggs like holy sh*t!

I know its hard making games by only yourself, trust me, Im also a solo game developer but you should instead of making 3 or 4 games focus on one or two untill its stable and as good as it can be. Just my thoughts…

Well now Im going to talk about the game.

The story is great and just like s&s2. Some people dont like the graphics but i think its cool. The weapons could been in a better quality doe cause they are kinda blurry and upscaled it feels like. Sad cause the characters and armor quality looks great.

Shield Impact

Shield Impact

maybe some more gamemodes would be nice. Like a mission gamemode (kill 10 enemies in 15 seconds for example), or a gamemode were you play as the enemy would be super cool.

But it’s a nice little game

7.3/10

The player character goes invisible after first game played and there is no actual bots, hardly even any pattern to compete with or gameplay. It needs to be fixed..

I did not refund it, as the original idea is kind of great.. !

Shields are always underestimated. But that underestimation only returns stronger with this game.

Not only the game craps out and it is the gamebreaking bug where the character disappears every retry.

It is a try and retry centered game. Not really worth anything like this. Could been really great but always forget to retry.
