Pilgrims

Pilgrims

A beautifully realized digital storybook filled to the brim with Amanita’s inimitable charm.

The different characters and their little story arcs could come straight out of an old folktale, and the soundtrack (once again by the phenomenal Floex) fits this atmosphere perfectly. The animation is another highlight. As often in Amanita Design’s games, it’s simple yet ridiculously charming. Representing both your characters and items as a set of playing cards is a clever spin on classic adventure game conventions, and it works very well.

Fun little game, basic, but quite amusing.

A nice break from all of the drama and “git gud” crap in Gamerland™ these days.

Just silly fun.

One map, that starts small and opens up after you progress the story (fairly quickly).

Story is simple.

Art is silly, hand-drawn appearance, not too hard on the eyes.

Short, but will take several playthroughs to unlock all achievements.

Yes, there are guides, but for me the fun is collecting the different cards from each location, and seeing which characters and which cards produce different results (in the same or different locations). Sure, use the guide(s) if you get stuck, but the game is short, multiple playthroughs don’t take long, and you might find a new combination that works to pop an achievement that isn’t mentioned in the guide(s). You might find an unexpected bit of silliness, too.

An…interesting game. First, let me talk about the downsides of this game: some typos in the game and some of the minigames were either a bit hard or the controls were a bit finicky (I wasn’t sure which it was in all honesty). Both issues I have with the game are actually pretty small overall. I did thoroughly enjoy myself playing this game, so that definitely outweighed any downside I had with the game. There are a total of 64 (technically 65) endings, which I did love. I didn’t realize at first that I could use the continue feature to pick points in the game so I can get the various endings a lot quicker than redoing the whole game every single time. I expected a comedy (which it most definitely is) but I wasn’t prepared for a dark comedy (which a lot of the endings get pretty dark, so a warning for anyone who is sensitive to dark jokes and

! themes of suicide/self harm). Strangely enough, I did also thoroughly enjoy the artwork in-game. It was varied and some were (purposefully?) odd/bad, but it was unique and added another comedic effect to the game.

The game was worth the money and time I spent with it. This is this developers first game, you can definitely feel it. There is a level of polish missing that while isn’t too distracting is definitely notable.

The game takes quite a long time to launch. There is a button binded that brings you directly back to the menu instead of a pause screen. There is a button that skips the menu that takes you directly to the level select. You can spam these buttons and reload the menus really fast and cause the soundtrack to restart rapidly. The way certain controls feel on multiple levels feel very floaty and weird. Not being able to skip through the dialogue fast enough to replay a mini-game can be a chore, especially if the mini-game isn’t very self explanatory and you can fail some of them instantly.

This is a copy and paste review: Pretty much every game in this series bundle or every game made by these developers comes with achievements already unlocked, you start the game run for a minute close it and all the achievements or the single achievement unlocks.

These games whether it’s the Trivia Games, the Word Search or the Picture search game, they are all reskins of each other, the concept behind these are all plain and boring, no creativity went into any of these games, you buy these games purely for the +1 to your Game and Perfect Game count and nothing more. That is the only reason why i’m giving it a positive review, i knew before hand what these games were about and that’s why i decided to buy them.

Touhou Endless Dream

Touhou Endless Dream

A word from Endless Dream’s ever-busy English translator

A well designed game and worth recommending.

I always thought that the Touhou fandom needs more fan-games that are just plain relaxing and satisfying to play, due to the original games' admittedly, hard difficulty.

Roguelike is Endless Dream’s main selling point, and it really got it right. the game itself is, great ( although I’m not the one to say since I’ve played only a little and just watched my friends play). As a person who has followed along the patches, I do think that the game is being polished more and more. Plus, it’s Touhou, how could you hate Touhou?

Really fun Roguelike Bullet Hell.

Can’t comment much on it, start yourself a run, kill various object shaped enemies along the way, collect yourself some money, get equips to boost your stats and face the Bosses (if not rushing you can fight up to 4).

Think first before going into the next area making sure the darkness doesn’t reach you, get yourself some permanent upgrades after the run and try to unlock more characters to play as.

The game is fairly hard on higher difficulties and pretty cozy tbh.

I absolutely love this game. I find it very relaxing. Well, maybe not relaxing… as it also gives me anxiety. Let me explain: this game lights up every single one of my OCD receptors. Straighten up a room? Yes, please! Pick up all the trash? Ding, ding, ding! Remove/fix problems? Now we’re cooking with gas! Pick up all the “whatever” of that specific group? Bingo! Yahtzee! We’ve got a winner!

And then the anxiety sinks in: I am way too excited about this. This is giving me waaaaaay too much joy. I may need to find a therapist. This can’t be normal.

Moriarty: Endgame VR

Moriarty: Endgame VR

This is rad. Moriarty Endgame is a bold step towards the future of the graphic novel/comic book. I had to play through twice since the first play I was so focused on the creative shader use and the blending of 2D comic sprites in a 3D immersive plane that the story went right over my head. The creators throw us right into the world of Moriarty with very little hand holding – which is nice. The writing and art style are consistent with a high fidelity voice over and sound effects leading the pace. I was briefly removed for one moment in a scene where we learn how Moriarty gained his super power. It felt forced and unnecessary in comparison to the subtilty in which other major plot points were revealed. That being said, the dark matter super power story will make a great episode on its own. It also moved a little fast for my taste. One thing that is wholy unique to comics as apposed to digital media is the ability to ‘travel at your own pace.’ To handle this the developers implemented a simple forward and reverse feature that allows you to easily restart a scene or skip to the next (I would guess each scene is the equivelent to 1-5 panels in a normal book). Still, I think there could be a more creative way to let the reader move at their own pace. These are nit picking observations, and at the end of the day Moriarty provides a concise and cohesive product, which is twice as impressive when you consider they are paving the way. I am excited to see what the team puts out as they become more comfortable exploring this new take on the media.

So I got this on the Halloween sale for .99 cents and the experience lasted 10 minutes. I can definitely recommend this experience. The only problem is that it does feel short, that’s because the experience is very engaging and things are heating up. It’s like a teaser. Just when things are getting really good, the experience ends.

I would definitely love to see where this story goes. Basically, this is a VR comic book where you have a screen shot of the action for the comic. But all the while you’re in the background of the place where the action is taking place (which is in black and white). This contrasts really well with the stark colors inside the “pages.” There are few animation even within the pages of the comic book.

GrowRilla VR

GrowRilla VR

This is a destructive sandbox game with just enough story to keep you coming back for more!

You play as a tiny gorilla that must eat everything in it’s path to grow larger and defeat the evil general trying to capture you..

Pros

-Funny voices and sound effects

  • Bright colorful environment

-Satisfying Destruction

-Love the ability to use the enemies' weapons even when they are tiny in your huge gorilla hands after you’ve grown

Cons

-Only 3 levels currently (more content to come)

  • Sound issues- A lot of times you’ll hear a pig or cow sound effect in your ear and you’ll think it’s right behind you but there are no animals nearby.

You play as a small little monkey that has been subject to military experiments and has escaped…

But now, when you eat a certain ammount of food, you grow!

Moment method works, because you are a gorilla (trigger to “pull” the world, grab buttons to grab stuff… hold them close to your mouth to automatically eat them)

Ive played the game for a while since early release, and it has improved with every update.

Granted it still needs a bit of polish… Something i noticed is that some SFX are missing, like enviromental, and other sounds that id expect arent there. Also its very easy to destroy buildings when you are the bigger sized.

Scoot Kaboom and the Tomb of Doom

Scoot Kaboom and the Tomb of Doom

I really love the approach of the one giant map! Couple that with a great variety of environmental hazards, clever level design and the cruel but necessary process of learning through death - and you’ve got Scoot Kaboom!

I’m having a great time so far 3

UPDATE:

I’ve now completed it, and what a really wholesome game. Really nice design of the “traps” and as you go deeper into the tomb the combination of several mechanics at once really cause a fun and challenging experience! The ending was fun, and I love how there are a bunch of unlockables, various game modes and accessibility settings if the game is too difficult.

Real player with 3.4 hrs in game

Great old style platformer with a nice gradual ramp up in difficulty. I really love that you can slow down the game for challenging sections if you want to, for as little or as much of the game as you want, and to the speed percentage you want. I’m hugely impressed with this design! It allows you to keep the game challenging to your level so it stays fun and not either a grind, or something you have to give up on.

Different playable characters and game modes add a lot of replayability factor - and the zoom to see the whole game feature is really clever.

EURGAVA™: Fight for Haaria

entertaining however… youll find that the double click on monsters sometimes doesnt work which becomes a huge issue when fight bigger stronger monsters. Also there is very little explanation as to what items do and when you should use them which makes it a bit frustrating trying to remember from looking at the log at the beginning which items to keep while roaming.

So now that have spent sometime with this game would like to share a quick view of what i think. I really like games that at least at some point try to be a little, unique. This game does that. It has that “I just want to do a couple more things then im done” feel as well. Thats also a plus. Althoough i recieved this key for free (thanks), Im going to be buying a gift copy for my nephew to so some support. Great Game if it sounds like something you’d be into.
