OPERATION SERPENS

OPERATION SERPENS

This game is huge fun to play, and despite the action quickly becoming quite frantic early on, there’s enough breathing room to allow the player to dodge or sidestep the deluge of incoming fire thanks to the enemy bullet speed being much slower than your own. Jump scares here and there, hilarious character animations, and varying play styles as you level up keep this game fresh and different.

Played in CV1, full room scale which translated perfectly inch by inch within the game environment. Unfortunately I’m limited by two front facing sensors, and so got lost by the sensors a couple of times on the “Gorgon” level, but never once did I feel overwhelmed.

Mad Bullets

Mad Bullets

Howdie partner. This is by far the best shooting gallery type game I’ve ever played. It features good graphics, sound effects and music that never gets boring. There are many types of enemies, and thanks to the missions you’ve got to achieve to get stars, wich make your character level up, there are many different styles of playthroughs.

What makes this game different to its competitors is that on the first look it only consists of three different levels that get mixed up by a handfull of bonus stages, but overall get repeated over and over again. Sounds boring? Well, it isn’t, because there are many different routes through each level that get mixed up every time, and this feature is so well thought out that even with my high playcount in this very game it still does manage to surprise me every now and then.

I’ve discovered that I do enjoy shooter-on-rails style games (Blue Estate, Is Defense) and this game is actually good as well, but mean and cheap grinding mechanics is what made me rate this one down. I’m an achievement hunter and as for the moment I only got one left - reach level 20. You need more and more stars with each level, and although their amount skyrocket closer to the desired level, it’s ok. To earn stars you need to complete goals; there are common goals that grant 1 star, 2 stars, 3 stars and daily goal that refreshes every 24 hours and gives you 5 stars. If you don’t like a common goal, you can change it for 125 Sacks and since money is not actually a problem, this is ok as well.

I played through this once, and I don’t even know what to say. It was one of the best horror games I have ever played. The game mechanics work perfectly, and the pacing is on point. It’s not even completed yet and it goes down with some of the greatest horror games of all time. Play this game, you won’t regret it. Maybe some nightmares.

This game is drunk. Very very drunk.

Bleh. It’s not asset flip but still drunken wrench. I think that it’s like a mod for one of Unreal Tournaments, judging by how I can double jump, dash and enemies shoot those explosive balls. The Ukrainian devs wrote in the readme their vision of old games. No, they don’t like old games due to open levels or having lots of weapons to choose from. For them it was about getting stuck in a level for days. And it shows.

The game is extremely difficult. Not in a sense of what kind of skills it challenges you. No, after all the game has no shame in simply locking you into corridor with invinsible walls despite having all the room space or spawning enemies right in front of your face, nor does it shy away from hitscan enemies, the boon of oldschool shooters. No, it just means damage numbers. Go get pwned by hitscan from faraway or something. While everything gets knocked around.

Say No! More

Say No! More

Target Audience: Those looking for light hearted, comedy, and smiles

Summary:

Say No More does well in using the insanity that’d you expect from a game where you have someone go flying from saying No at them, and combining it with smart writing and themes that parallel the situation that the modern corporate world is going through. It’s not preachy and yet takes a side, but does it with writing that’s equivalent to a fencing sword: precise and yet pointed, and flexible. The experience is about 3-4 hours and has a well put together arc with some small side stories that are worth paying attention to, and the game rewards players who wait to say no with small tidbits that will make them want to see more. The amount of voice acting in the game for a small game like this is impressive with the number of languages available. There’s also something just inheriently fun of seeing co-workers go flying in rigid rag doll physics.

Yes

Say No! More runs with its self-declared unnuanced, one-note premise into the realm of absurdity and stays there - all whilst qualifying its premise in its own title. There’s nothing quite like it and it’s glorious. Satirical perfection even.

Buying and playing anti-capitalist games under late-stage capitalism is my protest of choice, so I was immediately drawn to Say No! More’s demo last year. Even as a single chapter slice it managed to work standalone and neatly take the premise to a satisfying conclusion. How exactly it could be expanded on without too much fluff was the question…
