Moriarty: Endgame VR

Moriarty: Endgame VR

This is rad. Moriarty Endgame is a bold step towards the future of the graphic novel/comic book. I had to play through twice since the first play I was so focused on the creative shader use and the blending of 2D comic sprites in a 3D immersive plane that the story went right over my head. The creators throw us right into the world of Moriarty with very little hand holding – which is nice. The writing and art style are consistent with a high fidelity voice over and sound effects leading the pace. I was briefly removed for one moment in a scene where we learn how Moriarty gained his super power. It felt forced and unnecessary in comparison to the subtilty in which other major plot points were revealed. That being said, the dark matter super power story will make a great episode on its own. It also moved a little fast for my taste. One thing that is wholy unique to comics as apposed to digital media is the ability to ‘travel at your own pace.’ To handle this the developers implemented a simple forward and reverse feature that allows you to easily restart a scene or skip to the next (I would guess each scene is the equivelent to 1-5 panels in a normal book). Still, I think there could be a more creative way to let the reader move at their own pace. These are nit picking observations, and at the end of the day Moriarty provides a concise and cohesive product, which is twice as impressive when you consider they are paving the way. I am excited to see what the team puts out as they become more comfortable exploring this new take on the media.

So I got this on the Halloween sale for .99 cents and the experience lasted 10 minutes. I can definitely recommend this experience. The only problem is that it does feel short, that’s because the experience is very engaging and things are heating up. It’s like a teaser. Just when things are getting really good, the experience ends.

I would definitely love to see where this story goes. Basically, this is a VR comic book where you have a screen shot of the action for the comic. But all the while you’re in the background of the place where the action is taking place (which is in black and white). This contrasts really well with the stark colors inside the “pages.” There are few animation even within the pages of the comic book.

Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood

Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood

Foreign Legion, Buckets of Blood is the perfect example of a developer creating a casual game that’s not simply a frenzied money grab. Despite being an incredibly simple game, and an incredibly small one at release, the developers have worked hard to improve every single aspect of it.

While the lower difficulties are pretty much impossible to fail on the harder ones provide genuine challenge. The leaderboards and small meta-game will keep the game interesting beyond the initial 30 minutes of excitement.

This game is a gem.

It’s not a game that you sink many hours in, but the time you spend in it is pure joy.

You instantly notice that GRIN were not held back in their creativity and madness.

So there was no blown up marketing department to say “Oh my god, we can’t do this!”

They just did ;)

Show me another game in which it’s an achievement to kill hundreds of dolphins.

Ya, we’re talking this level of freedom in design.

All that said - i highly recommend getting it, but for full price only if you really

Iron Snout

Iron Snout

Sticking to my 5 pros and 5 cons, this will be as unbias as possible.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PROS:
1. Very addicting
2. 2 maps for when one gets boring or dry. You can get in an intense street fight, or a chaotic battle in the forest.
3. Keeps count of every wolf killed. You can compare and compete with your friends.
4. Respectful developer and he engages with the community. This is one of the most important things.
5. Always being worked on. This game will have plenty of new addons in the future, and many things will change. This keeps the experience fresh and it keeps you busy.
Oh my god, this game is too perfect.
You’re a martial arts, Jedi back-flipping ninja-esque Chuck Norris badass pig. That sums it up pretty well. You fight waves of weapon-wielding-wolves, all out for your blood. Why? Who knows? Who cares? All you need to know is that only one can survive. And that’s you because you’re a ninja pig.
The game never gets boring, really. I’ve played 16 hours so far and I haven’t gotten bored. Iron Snout + Star Wars soundtrack = win. Not only that, it’s so easy to pick up. The art style is both cute and amazingly badass. Also, I can introduce my little bro to it with the Kid-Friendly setting. The developer needs a high-five and someone needs to shout them a coffee. Actually, I’ll do it. I love this game.
Haimrik
Haimrik
A pretty interesting yet fun game that reminds me a bit of Happy Tree Friends with how the game does the deaths. The story was actually pretty good and I enjoyed it a lot. I really like the art in the game. I love the game mechanics and thought it was a fun and somewhat unique. I don’t like it when games that don’t show the settings options in the first menu you see (thankfully, the devs did add a settings option but only after you start to actually play the game). There is no option or way to window the game, which is also another annoyance I had with it.
Once upon a time… The art of storytelling
Haimrik is a side scrolling puzzle game (with some light platforming and action elements) that requires you to think on your feet. You will use words to overcome obstacles forging tools and other useful items with your unique powers.
Beginning in a squalid town, this mundane little corner of the world is an appropriate reflection of the game’s titular hero. Haimrik is a spectacularly unremarkable scribe who spends his days trying to scratch out a living in the basement of the local bar. A fortuitous series of events gift Haimrik a magical book with a difference. Unlike traditional spell books, this particular tome does not simply bestow magic upon its owner. Instead, it demands blood and transports players into a world where the pen really is mightier than the sword.
The Haunted Tunnel is a template flip from Anamik Majumdar, who keeps reskinning the same lame GameMaker Studio game templates and re-releasing it on Steam with a few minor changes. The GameMaker Studio templates he keeps re-releasing are just basic retro pixel (couldn’t he rip off a template with proper graphics??) 2D top down/platformer stealth/action games. Here’s some other results of his copy+paste school of “game development”:
  • Haunted Jail: Alcatas
  • Ghost in the Barn House
If a potential buyer is reading this, I recommend reading the conclusion paragraph first.
If this is someone who has purchased and played this game already, I want you to add any more bugs/recommendations to the list in the comments.
Game-Breaking Bugs
-When the AI jumps, it results in them gaining essence (two turns of sleep) while the player loses essence for jumping.
-When using a ranged weapon, the only way to access your inventory for potions is if you get close to the enemy that only allows access to inventory if out of range, which for a bow is anywhere but in close range.
Well okay, first time ill write a long review.
I have played around 20 hours and gotta say it wasnt bad, like the game could be really good IF there wasnt so much buggs like holy sh*t!
I know its hard making games by only yourself, trust me, Im also a solo game developer but you should instead of making 3 or 4 games focus on one or two untill its stable and as good as it can be. Just my thoughts…
Well now Im going to talk about the game.
The story is great and just like s&s2. Some people dont like the graphics but i think its cool. The weapons could been in a better quality doe cause they are kinda blurry and upscaled it feels like. Sad cause the characters and armor quality looks great.
9-nine-:Episode 4
9-nine-:Episode 4
Episode 4 is the first game I’ve played of the series.
The story is so good that I want to read all of the chapters. Except I don’t, because that would mean I wouldn’t see Noa and Kakeru together anymore.
The creators did a splendid job at helping you understand the plot without having to read the previous chapters. This was definitely one of my bigger concerns because nobody likes experiencing things where they’re left completely out of the loop.
I find the quality of this story to come close to some of my favorite novels: Chaos;Child, Steins;Gate and ISLAND. Many events in this novel seem to be centered around personalities and it shows you how much thought went in to every single character, but the main story revolves around the concept of time travel with their own fascinating twist added to it.
This is not a proper review AT ALL, I am just typing what I have in my mind.
9-nine series, definitely masterpiece-tier visual novel for me. Who would have thought a simple story about investigating the truth behind a crime would lead up to so many messed up things. Truth to be told, I thought 9-nine is just another visual novel that talks about daily life with the heroines, having dates, sharing first kiss, saving the heroines in dangerous situation and so on. Hell no, 9-nine brought me more than that, of course one thing that surprised me the most is the game breaking the fourth wall and involve you as much as possible into the story.
Dread X Collection
Dread X Collection
I enjoy this “buffet” style of video games where you have a large platter of small things to partake in. Of course, not everything you get in a buffet is tasty, and that is the same case with Dread X Collection. We are presented with 10 small indie horror games made in a short period of time, and I’ve had the pleasure of beating every one of them. So, let’s go over each one, starting clockwise, and see what’s good and not so good.
Oddbreeze Games - The Pay is Nice : It’s unfortunate this was my first experience into Dread X, because it’s rather bad. It’s a 3D game with tank controls, and bucket loads of Dutch-angles, which makes it even harder to navigate. You play as a scientist who is slowly going insane, and for your hard work solving a rather complex and vague puzzle, you get a mediocre ending.
Not Half Bad
An acceptable collection of games ranging from trash (Rotgut) to good (Summer Night). I will say that most of the games are not particularly thrilling, but they are plentiful, short, and for the most part, unique. You get what you pay for. I highly recommend you play the rest of the Dread X Collection Games. They’re better than this one.
Here’s the TL;DR:
