Oddyssey: Your Space, Your Way

Oddyssey: Your Space, Your Way

The world was doomed, but that was just the beginning. Now four thawed-out crewmembers are the only hope for two million passengers seeking life on a new world. In an effort to save humanity from an earth-shattering asteroid, an ARK Mothership was built to transport two million frozen souls safely to a new, habitable world. At least, that was the plan. Midway through its long journey, the ARK Mothership computers discovered that it was far off course and low on fuel. With no other options, four passengers were awoken early.

Their job? To crew the “Oddyssey” resource vessel, mine asteroids for resources and help the ARK reach the next source of fuel. The process is slow, and more crew members may need to be awoken, but the fates of 1,999,996 fellow passengers hang in the balance.

It’s up to you and your crew to Build, Explore, and Manage your team to get enough resources for the next big jump to a habitable planetary system. The future of humanity literally depends on it!

Collect resources by mining nearby asteroids. Use the collected material to create new tools and technology or send back to the ARK as fuel.

A good crew works effectively. While one is building a new science station, another can be mining asteroids or improving the ship.

Crewmembers can gain temporary boosts and debuffs while working. Ignoring a negative status can impact your performance and eventually lead to grave consequences.

Discover lost alien technology and study it to improve your own.

**Use resources to repair and expand your ship and upgrade its technology. Defend it from alien creatures, solar flares and dangerous asteroids.

Every crew member is an important and unique part of your crew. Unless they die, then they are preplaced with one of the 1.9 million other potential crew members. Assign the new crew where they best fit, or use some gene editing to get the skills you need to survive.**

Allura: Curse of the Mermaid

Allura: Curse of the Mermaid

In this video I take a look at Allura: Curse of the Mermaid, a match-3 game from eFunsoft and HH-Games.

It’s been a while since I have played an HH-Games match three and this title is a terrific one to come back to. A great product, although they do like to use stills for the cut scenes. If your a match three fan this title will definitely fill the need, it has all the features of a modern match three in a high quality package. Take a look.

Allura: Curse of the Mermaid is a badly made mobile-tier match-3 puzzle game with old, dead match-3 gameplay and a mermaid/underwater theme.

I couldn’t find this on the app stores so maybe it was removed. Apple and Google have quality control where Valve doesn’t. This is pretty bad even as far as mobile match-3 games go, with some pretty bad artwork. HH-Games once more show us they’re capable of nothing but cash grabs, as this mobile app has a whopping $6 price tag, just so you can pretend your PC is an iPhone and play the kind of mobile game that’s free everywhere else.

Runes of Avalon 2

Runes of Avalon 2

I really wanted to give this game a thumbs up, but it is all but totally broken. It has a main menu with several choices on it, but only “Quest” and “Quit” work.

Quick Play and Gallery do not function. Part of the game is a mixed up puzzle, which when you solve it it becomes the new background for the puzzle - but you NEVER SEE IT! It disappears the instant you solve it and it is covered by every puzzle you play. I assume Gallery is supposed to show you the completed pictures… who knows?

The puzzles in the quest are very entertaining, presenting a real challenge to the player, with nice graphics, and some are very difficult to solve. You can turn on the game’s music, a nice selection of instrumentals.

In this video I take a look at Runes of Avalon 2, a match three with a difference.

In this title instead of the gems falling from the top like most match 3’s they are generated as shapes you need to place like TETRIS only you can move them anywhere with your mouse to try and form matches with shapes and colours. Pretty straight forward once you see it in action. Like most match 3’s it still has powerups and spells but as per the rest of the game it has it’s own unique take on them. It’s a nice change and it all works quite well unlike some attempts at different match 3 styles. The game play is both fun and can pack a punch, especially in some of the more advanced levels with timed mode where you need to use powerups or you won’t win. Take a look.

GRAPHICS / AESTHETIC : 20/10

PLAYTIME (2-5 hours ): 4/10

MUSIC : 20/10

STORY: 6.5/10

GAMEPLAY: 4/10

PRICE: 10/10

(I know it might seem like a high price for a short game but you need to remember that this is an indie studio and I believe the price reflects the healthy payment the artists would receive for the time they spent pouring love and detail into every crevice)

should you get this game? YES! I think everyone should experience a game of this beauty. But if you’re someone who strictly wants to get a new game for the game elements, this might not be for you, if you like the aestheic and are okay playing something for the story and experience then definitely get this game!!

Target Audience: Adventuring Players Looking for a Cute Casual Time

Summary:

Hoa is a game where spectical and whismy take the forefront of the experience: and if those things don’t matter to you, then it’s probably not a game for you. It’s not trying to be an interesting platformer in any sort of way. Sure, the mechanics here work and the controls are responsive enough, but many of the elements act as a minor challenge at best despite some puzzling have to be done. But that’s not what the game is trying to really test: it’s taking you on an adventure for you to get lost in the beautiful visuals, the environment that tells a story in each area, and the ultimately uplifting story that will make you feel your troubles melt away for that day.

Beyond The Edge Of Owlsgard

Beyond The Edge Of Owlsgard

Beyond The Edge Of Owlsgard is an old-school point & click adventure game that is reminiscent of the animated movies and Saturday morning cartoons of decades gone by. While it is obviously inspired by the LucasArts and Sierra classics, it also strives to create its own style and identity by returning to the original “adventure” aspect of the genre. Aside from solving the obligatory inventory-based puzzles, this means a heavy focus on exploring mysterious lands, uncovering secrets and dealing with all kinds of dangers.

Strange things are happening in the animal kingdom of Velehill. Unknown shadows of large appearance are seen roaming through the forests and making the ground shake with every step of their steel feet. Houses and trees are destroyed and one animal after the other seems to disappear mysteriously.

Finn, a young roebuck, soon finds out about the disappearance of his family as well. Without hesitation, he goes on a journey to find them, not knowing he and his new friend Gwen the owl will soon uncover a dark secret that should have been kept hidden for all eternity…

  • An immersive story told through hand-drawn landscapes and countless animations!

  • A return to the “adventure” aspect of the genre – a big focus on exploring whimsical places, uncovering secrets, and dealing with tense and dangerous situations

  • Cinematic cutscenes, reminiscent of hand-drawn animated movies, mixed with a pixel art aesthetic

  • Atmospheric soundtrack, inspired by the old midi classics everyone knows and loves

  • 6-8 hours of gameplay

Clan O’Conall and the Crown of the Stag

Clan O’Conall and the Crown of the Stag

Very fun action/puzzle platformer with an interesting Celtic theme. With an intuitive switching system. you control 3 different siblings on their quest to rescue their father the King, who has been captured by the Mother of Demons in an attempt to gain control of the titular Crown of the Stag that he wears. Each hero plays very different and are specially suited for combating different kinds of enemies or solving different puzzles.

The game does a good introducing those puzzles and letting you solve them, but by the mid game you’ll be smoothly swapping multiple times between them in mid-air, triggering different abilities to maximize your hang time or get to a far ledge.

A varied platformer where you take on the role of three Vikin… er, Celts. With them you’ll have to run, fight and jump through a variety of levels to stop the mother of all demons, Caorànach, from destroying an ancient peace between humans and the Fae Folk. To this end, Caorànach has stolen the Crown of the Stag from your village and, by the way, seriously injured the chief, your father.

Relaxing Kite

Relaxing Kite

Very relaxing, much kite. Dodge flying objects in an immersive experience. Comes with like 6 languages too. Very worth a dollarydoo.

This game is super simple, but it is indeed relaxing, and surprisingly addictive!

You just tap the mouse button to make the kite go up, which dodges whatever clouds, birds, leaves, etc. are floating past you. Each level, you have to dodge more objects to win, but I don’t think the difficulty really increases much.

You can unlock kites of different speeds, and choose the one you like, in order to make it easier or harder.

The graphics are not particularly impressive, but it’s quite aesthetically pleasing anyhow. It’s minimalist and pretty, with a variety of different colour palettes available.

Welcome To… Chichester 2 - Part II : No Extra Regrets For The Future

Great cg visuals.

Great music,

Good tempo for gameplay, with scenes changing often and a lot of intrigue and plotlines, though bordering on a bit much leaving the player slightly confused with everything going on with various characters having their own agenda’s.

Reply required with different character & choices made to discover more of the above-mentioned. (single run-through you’ll likely only get around 25% of the achievements unlocked).

There’s no specific or right path required, explore from various angles to discover more of the overall story content. Knowledge of prior games in series not needed (unless needing more in-depth knowledge of things mention in the intro summary).

Developer: Triority Interactive Novels

Publisher: Triority Interactive Novels

Pros:

1. The story maintains its chaotic humor and it also looks more into the background of Grendel Jinx and the main character, even giving information of the protagonist’s previous line of work before he became an agent of The Phoenix Custodians. It also acts as a buildup for the next chapter.
