Call of Myth

Call of Myth

Call of Myth is a collectible card game set in the universe of Mythos of Howard Phillips Lovecraft.

In this dark world, full of dangers incomprehensible to the human mind, you have to challenge not only the Old Gods and their fanatical followers, but also your own madness. Will you be able to withstand the horrors of this world and the nightmares generated by your own mind?

All cards are important

Common cards are the base of each deck, they form its playstyle. Use them to create a new tactic and add Unique and Mythic cards that will introduce special interactions and hard but rewarding plays into the game.

A unique madness mechanic

Apart from strength and health, every creature has sanity. If the sanity drops to zero, the creature will go mad and get madness. You can either avoid this outcome or create a deck that can turn the insanity of your own creatures to your advantage. The choice is yours.

Leaders

Each Leader has unique active and passive abilities, as well as a different starting amount of health. Depending on the strategy you prefer each leader can achieve its potential in many different ways.

Do you want to crush the opponent with powerful creatures capable of single-handedly dealing with whole hordes of enemies? Or do you prefer to use cunning techniques and wait until the enemy’s strength is exhausted before you strike?

Using a variety of cards, you can build a deck that suits your playstyle.

Tactics and strategy

A special playing field encourages the use of tactics. Just playing the cards that come into your hand is not enough to win. To defeat the enemy, you need to thoughtfully place creatures on the table, combining their abilities and skills.

Iconic characters of Lovecraft’s works

Cthulhu and Herbert West, Nyarlathotep and Professor Armitage, Shub-Niggurath and Randolph Carter, as well as plenty of other momentous characters of Lovecraft’s works.

Some will become your opponents, while others will become loyal allies.

AXYOS: Battlecards

Nice little card game. You can spend another hour with pleasure.

Can’t give this one a good review, sadly. The bits and pieces seem nice, but it doesn’t make for a fun gaming experience.

The art and music is perhaps the best aspect of the game, the controls work fine as well.

That said the game feels very under-documented, and the games do not seem very fun or balanced, I win every time without even knowing what I am doing.

Perhaps the biggest weakness is that you cannot gain experience points except in multiplayer, and I have never been able to find anyone else to play it with.

Brain Please Don’t

Brain Please Don’t

Brain, NO!

This game is… well, it’s hardly a game by definition. It’s so minimal that there’s not much I can talk about this game. The game is so short, you can simply refund this game after 4 playthroughs. The length of this game feels like my game projects that I make for college assignments, heh.

! Note to self: I should make them better.

There’s no main menu, no saves, no pause screen, no options, no nothing. Credits cannot be skipped, but that’s it, the game simply does nothing after the credits. It doesn’t even close itself! All that’s there in the game is simply the “game” itself.

My Experience

Brain Please Don’t is excellent. Although developer Critique Gaming clearly states that they are not mental health professionals, they still touch on many important themes related to mental health and wellness.

You begin with a deck that is composed of cards determined by both the difficulties your teen is facing and the coping skills he/she uses to manage their emotions. Certain cards raise stats, certain cards lower them, and some do both.

The game then takes you through a set of scenarios, each of which can be responded to in multiple ways. However, certain responses are only available to you if you possess certain stats (for instance, a high degree of openness or confidence). You have a hand of three cards, and a new card is drawn after each play. However, due to how many cards are strictly negative, playing a ton of cards during each scenario may not be advisable.

So, I’ve seen bad reviews for this game. For a poker game, it’s not bad. The animations, I thought, were a little slow. As it turns out, though, it’s just a part of poker. It ’s a grind and decisions take time. As far as the career aspect you start out where you should, with 50k playing in low level tourneys. That 50k can be lost! Be careful. A lot of people have complained about having to play against bots. These bots are not easy targets. You will not always beat them. I prefer playing against bots as opposed to waiting 15-30 mins. for a table to fill. I want to play not stare at my computer screen. They are a good training tool in my opinion. The 11 hours I’ve put in netted 20k profit. Yes, this game is a grind. Only buy it if you’re competitive and like poker. I joined a low level knockout tourney and it took me just over an hour to win. I had to play four times. The AI is AGGRESSIVE. They, at times, make dumb bets based solely on their pocket cards. For example, AI player has a King, Jack. It will bet and continue to bet even if they don’t hit anything on the flop. They will also make HIGH bets which you will have to judge for yourself if they’re bluffing. Nothing cranks me up like getting bluffed by a 3-2 off-suit, lol. However, if you don’t play smart and aggressive yourself the AI players will push you right off the table. Play smart or throw your money away. The dev is very up to speed on how to properly play poker and there are advanced theories in the game explaining a few of them. For example, how seat placement at the table affects how you should bet. Good game in my opinion. It needs some polishing. Better AI tactics I’d say. If you like or are interested in poker this game is for you. Beware. This is not a sit and win your way to the top of the food chain in a week or two game. It’s about the most serious investment of time I’ve ever seen in a poker game. So, come prepared or go home…broke!

(german below)

I waited long for a game that isn’t like from the 90s: Only some cards on a table with top view. It’s 2020 and I want an immersive game not a bad looking mobile/facebook game. And it’s what I wanted:

  • immersive gameplay with nice graphics and animations (hence ofc its slower)

  • customizing your character/table with a lot of stuff to finally use your chips

  • a lot of game modes

  • nice tricks, emotes and different locations

  • and statistics, a lot of them: general, after cash game or tournaments. Love it here and always missed it in other games.. :)

Animals Memory

Animals Memory

Nicely designed meme memory game with a decent level progression, cute animal pictures and a peaceful soundtrack. Resolution and window mode can be set via the typical Unity launcher.

Quick developer response and fix about a broken achievement, now they can be done in minutes.

The content is okay for the price.
