Flowers Garden Solitaire

Flowers Garden Solitaire

One of the best games in its genre, but with minor flaws. I advise everyone. 9.5 / 10.

solitaire games are pretty much identical to each other, the usual +1/-1 gameplay with power-ups and such, and even if some developers try to put their unique(ish) spin on it, their subsequent releases are still mostly gonna be reskins of the same thing. no problem with that, I’d rather enjoy a variety of themes than replay the same thing over and over.

EDIT AFTER COMPLETING GAME:

So … I felt I owed it to the game and its developer to complete the game, especially after giving it a negative review originally. Honestly, by the time I got about half-way through (there are 120 levels total), I was bored beyond words and would have abandoned it long before finishing, had I not wanted to give it a fair shake in its entirety.

It’s not a “bad” game per se. Simply put, it’s your basic one-up, one-down card game with somewhat pretty art and no imagination whatsoever in the gameplay.

most solitare games are basically the same, especially if they’re made by the same people, so marie antoinette’s solitaire by deyteris is exactly like maidens of the ocean solitaire by deyteris without mermaids, or flowers garden solitaire by deyteris without bleeding eyes because of all the clashing colors, so this review is also very similar to my other reviews.

Storybook Brawl

Taken from the store page itself “Deep strategy meets enchanting fun in Storybook Brawl!”

–At no point did that sentence fail to deliver during the testing.–

For someone that is not new to this genre the mechanics were very simple and easy to manage. No issues with hand size becoming unreliable to click on (You can have 4 things). The very few ways I found to add more than the cap of 4 were always put into the shop for a 0 cost to enable the player to make decisions instead of lose things they worked for.

I went back and forth on this, but in the end, this no, you should not get this game. And that’s saying something, as it is free and remarkably free from pay-to-win or any other micro-transactions. The big problem is here is that your skill or understanding of the game really doesn’t matter - it’s all RNG. The game shifts heavily towards the end game with much more powerful creatures available, and if you can get them you win - if you don’t you lose. The best combos are ridiculous and insane and there is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, you can do if your opponent gets the cards. Then there is the problem with creatures and treasures that are just plain broken and are strictly better than anything else out there. Finally, this game suffers a lot from “win more” syndrome: if you win a brawl you come out in a much better position than you had going in, so once you are down a couple of brawls it can be impossible to come back from. Then there is the problem of people who are determined to try and force their favorite build every time, meaning you can be deprived of key characters for your build - and there are really only three or four viable strategies to begin with - by bad players who take you out with them and there is nothing you can do about it.

This is a fine game. It is a good job done by these developers. Aesthetically pleasing, nice sounds, reliability, no glitches that I could see. I have played one game so far and I am thanking these devs for their work with the DLC version purchase. I encourage anyone looking for what we used to have for free that now microsoft has cucked and apparently they need to sell subscriptions for and no ads; to buy this game. This is good craftsmanship by these devs.

Fantasy Town Regional Manager

Fantasy Town Regional Manager

This game was not what I was expecting. I thought it would be something like SimCity where you endlessly expand your town. But this game isn’t meant for you to build a long term town right out of the gate. You are expected to create a town, accomplish some small goals and quests, earn upgrade points and then - when your town crashes and burns - unlock some upgrades and start over again.

I’ve played for 16 hours and have yet to fully unlock all of the upgrades. I have unlocked all of the buildings and it is starting to get a little repetitive but I can see this as a fun game to come back to after a break and play a few rounds to pass the time.

Fun, engaging, eases you into some interesting complexities

I love how vibrant the game is, which is thanks to the music, the cute colours, the little people moving about the buildings, and the amount of story it’s able to fit in with the newspaper and your own gameplay.

That’s all drawn me in, but what’s kept me playing is seeing more new buildings appear, then deciding how their placement might affect the satisfaction of each class of adventurers. It starts off simple enough but when you’re ready, you’re able to introduce modifiers that impact the way you play even further.

Mahjong Worlds

Mahjong Worlds

I love myself a good round of Mahjong, and this satisfies the need.

Although I encountered a progression bug where I would get stuck on a level, but besides that it’s one of the best 3D mahjong games I’ve tried.

I’d personally make the music swap randomly between levels, add a warning about “no more moves”, and expand on the variance of the layout.

Looking forward to future releases!
