Trials of Fire
Look guys, I’ve been playing this game for a few weeks now and while I can say I do love this game. It’s got adventure, a unique world to explore, characters that have a surprising depth to them (on the few occasions you have the right character for the right scene), and a plethora of fun combo cards and builds. …But…
I fucking hate this game. You have GOT to do something about the enemy combo formation tactic that goes on. It’s the same tactic every time- but it’s UNAVOIDABLE. No matter how you attempt to position, it’s a HEX BASED GRID- you cannot avoid getting surrounded by dudes. Every unit just moves in to surround one target, then all cards are wasted for 1 dude to hit the target 1-3 times, proc’ing the other enemies 2-6 times, for a total of 3-12 damage. If you were confused about the result, your character is dead. Which cannot be mitigated properly because healing herbs only show up when I complete what amounts to a laughably unbalanced boss fight where the 1st boss sends more dudes after you than you can possibly field, while sitting back in the corner buffing himself into oblivion and tagging your guys (who are stuck in combat with his overpowered handmaids) with dot damage and cackling maniacally. Not sure if someone on your team is one of those sadistic Dungeons and Dragons DM’s who think that its totally fair to TPK the party in the first 5 minutes but it feels that way at times.

As much as I love the genre, card-battler deckbuilders have become a deeply overcrowded field in the last few years. I’m always on the lookout for titles that stand out in some way, doing new or unusual things, and especially ones where those things actually work. Trials of Fire hits that mark, in a few different ways.
First off, it’s a party based RPG, with your three-man team being composed from nine total classes. Each character has their own distinctive deck, consisting of five generic cards and four class-specific starters. The core deck for each character is kept essentially fixed at this size, allowing the player to replace any of those nine slots with more advanced cards drawn from a class-specific pool. Alternatively, they can instead elect to replace one of their existing cards, either basic or advanced, with an upgraded version. This replacement-focused attempt at deck-building strikes an interesting balance, and it’s been pretty rare for me that the decision of what to do is a totally obvious non-choice. The fixed size also serves to keep the deck for each character relatively manageable, as with a more traditional approach applied across multiple characters the size could get unwieldy. There are rare circumstances in which a character will pick up an additional ‘Trait’ card in their core deck, which can’t be overwritten or replaced, instead requiring action to remove. It’s likely not surprising that the most common of these are various Injury cards (gained from risk taking during story events, or having all health depleted in combat) as well as Fatigue (added to the whole party if they’ve gone too long without rest).

Stormbound
I’ve just gotten into Stormbound in the past 2 months and I love this game. I’ve had a binge on CCG games for awhile and I play this one the most an consistently.
First and formost, the game is NOT PAY 2 WIN. Please view negative reviews with a grain of salt.
- The game is about strategy but it takes awhile to learn what those strategies are, as there are 4 different archetypes of cards, and even then, there are sub-themes within each. For example, is the Winter Pact set. It typically revolves around stacking mana or freeze combos. However, you can use freeze combos just to stall enemies or to clear many enemies at once.

I wish ranked play was everybody playing same levels. I’ve noticed that when you finally get to rank 25, you’re starting to meet the whales who can’t win from other whales (aka: people with too much money (and maybe also too much time) and too little skill).
So even if you’re playing reasonably well enough, playing with level 1s and 2s against level 3s isn’t exactly on equal footing. I thought that ‘ranked matches’ in general should be about skill (in gameplay and deckbuilding), not about who’s got the most money to throw around.

Warhammer Underworlds: Online
Disclaimer: I got this game for free like the rest of you all this week. I am only writing this review because I see so many uniformed reviews. You’re welcome to dislike this game and find it boring, but leaving a negative review because it is exactly what it claims to be seems petty.
Summary:
This is a pretty close clone of the Age of Sigmar tabletop game by the same name. Tabletop combat can be clunky, time consuming, and even boring if your army has been wiped out or you’re waiting on your opponent to make a tough decision. So just like the tabletop game, this game has similar quirks.

I have mixed feelings about the current situation of the game. I am hoping that by the time this game goes past early access I will have only positive reviews!
I’ll start with the good stuff:
-
This game is implementing the mechanics of the table top version of Underworlds - Shadespire perfectly and I have faith that the developers will do the same justice to Nightvault and Beastgrave.
-
The game looks great for early access. the Visuals are great and the models look fantastic. I would like to see the background change from game to game and make it feel more like a changing city but it should not be a deal breaker in my opinion.

Oaken
The world of Oaken is a mythical place, existing in a not easily defined space and time. It is stretched among the branches of the Great Oak. Its inhabitants are spirits which listen to the same voice, called the Oak Song.
The loss of that voice strats a series of events leading into a struggle which may either heal or destroy the Great Oak.
-
Roguelike, hero-oriented campaign with deck management.
-
A mystical world inhabited by spirits with celtic and tribal vibes.
-
A randomly generated world map with tons of levels, bosses and events to be discovered.
-
Unique, highly tactical battles on a hexagonal grid, where position and rotation is everything.
-
Upgrade your spells and spirits the way you want.
-
Easy to learn, hard to master - chill and challenge modes suitable for any player.

#### What kind of game is this?
This is a zombie simulation of the end of the environment to survive the game.
The background of the game is one year after the zombie outbreak.

Each character has its own strengths and weaknesses, which will affect their chances of survival.
The materials in the game are displayed in the form of cards, which are mainly divided into weapons and consumables.
When fighting, random moves will be generated according to the characteristics of weapons to deal with the enemy. Weapons are durable, remember to maximize the use of weapons unique moves to win.
Players will lose their health, physical strength and spirit after fighting, moving and strengthening the room for rest.
After fighting in an empty room, remember to supplement your own state, otherwise the depressed state will bring serious negative buffs.
Finally, in addition to zombies, there may be a small number of survivors in abandoned hospitals.
They will be your companions or… Powerful and terrible enemies.

Dead Simple 21
I didn’t go in expecting much but this is a real gem. Variation on 21 with special cards, play modes, timer, interactive elements. Awesome solitaire or for challenging your mates. Highly addictive.
If you love your card games or need a fun way to kill idle time (on planes, trains, in bed, etc.), check out Dead Simple 21. It’s addictive. I’m challenging anyone that walks past to have a go at beating my high score. And I learned a new card game!

Dead Simple 21 is a blackjack inspired game where you draw cards from a deck and place them into one of four columns trying to hit 21. This game is a fun casual game to play. It features a fantastic art style and theme. This was fun to play, and I recommend giving it a try.

Esport Godfather
Player training:
Do you want an all-rounder to sweep the audience, or a secret weapon to defeat the enemy? Each player is unique and has his own hero preferences and characteristics. Can you help them break through the bottleneck and win the championship and become the most dazzling superstar on the field?
Hero pool training:
Is it to train the assassin to perfection, or is it obsessed with the master to control the thunder and lightning? The differences in skills and occupations have created many heroes. Every hero has his own specialties, and a player should also have his own specialties. The stadium is not a particular place, strength here is the last word. It is definitely a big challenge to configure a perfect hero pool for the players!
Version change:
There is no strongest hero, only the strongest version!
In this version, the experience value of the creeps has increased so that the heroes can upgrade quickly. This is the paradise of the mages. Use your skills to bomb the arena!
In that version, the wild economy has greatly increased, and the killers hidden in the jungle can finally fight happily! If you want to strategize, you must first understand the version. The person who wins in the end is the first in the version!
Tactical options:
Is it centering around the core heroes, waiting for the level of equipment to be enough to save the world and turn the tide? Or is it the Trident, with overflow attacks that make the enemy defeated from the start of the game? Coach, they are waiting for you, give instructions!
Decision card:
Every decision on the field is crucial. Are you ready to teach your opponent a lesson with the decision-making card in your hand, telling him that in this e-sports arena, it is useless to talk on paper! Only with rich experience and reasonable decision-making can we fight steadily and win the game!
League Cup:
From the chirping chicks to the soaring eagles, from the obscure City Cup to the world-famous Serie A, this road can be described as thousands of horses crossing the single-plank bridge. Not only that, in this era of e-sports, all kinds of cups are also full of talents. The players you hope to get sometimes stand on the opposite side of you, and those superb teams also look at you. Want to be famous all over the world? Let’s start now!
Monster Train
I guess hours played should really say what I think about this game.
I have a very specific morning routine. I wake up, start making coffee, brush my teeth and have a smoke. When coffee is finished I sit down and slowly wake up to a game or two of Monster train before starting work. Sometimes I play a game of Slay the spire but since that takes about 30-45 seconds to start I tend to go for Monster train (500 hours of SLS on Gog).
This is the perfect timewaster. Easy to get into and all the different races have so much variability. And deckbuilding is my favorite boardgame game mode ever.

Game is pretty fun. A bit more combo based than say Slay the Spire and a lot of luck can be needed on higher difficulties. That being said it is bright and fun and it’s enjoyable to take a train to hell.

Seblen: Battle!
Single player was fun. Didnt get to play vs anyone else yet on MP. Maybe after its been out longer. Art is great. Worth the buy.
– Real player with 1.8 hrs in game
The game is decently fun but there is no content what so ever. I wish there was a way to edit my deck and a story mode or something. As things stand it’s not worth the money as the only option available is to fight the AI.
