STORY

devs should stop prompting player to rate the game over and over every 3 match! i’m not convince yet to giving out any good or bad review yet but this prompt keep appearing which annoy me and made the game less fun.

i’m going to re-review this game later. for now yeah bad review for needless pop up and needless clicking.

edit :

now that i’ve been playing for 20 hours i’m confident to giving out review. though i don’t think i’m close to completely master the depth of this game so i avoid talking about balance or meta stuff. those things changes every month anyway.

Mixed on this game because I want to see where it goes and if they introduce something original (counter spells, fast spells, double attack ability or is it just going to be back and forth the whole time) After playing Legends of Runeterra, which has only been out this year, but perfected and introduced a ton of new mechanics to the CCG world, this game doesn’t even compare. Still a little confused why this game exists it’s basically Shadowverse early stage without voice acting and a ton of other mechanics. Some confusing things such as you can’t check cards stats of what they do by clicking on the card in hand, I forgot half the time what the card actually does and I’m playing it blindy. Haven’t figured out how to emote yet, you can’t even see each others players name during a match, the card collection search is a mess (Legends of Runeterra you can search by keyword for abilities to help build your deck faster),

The Horus Heresy: Legions

The Horus Heresy: Legions

This here, it is their cash milking machine, mind you as long as the gros is getting to GW i rly dont mind.

Just wish there was something you could invest money in without being a whale. a sub that didnt suck for instance , a better matchmaking system ? in fact id prolly buy single player cmpaigns if those gave me good cards instead of the RNG.

The gem system is 5:1 a card being drawn as double only gives me 1 5th of its cost in the gem shop.

Trouble is new factions cost gold primarily to get and at first only 200 coin crates are available not the more reasonable ones.

The game throws you into some pretty cool fights when you first start the game.

They have cool enemies and you are getting rewards and you think maybe there is a cool story and hope this continues to develop and allow you to adjust your deck as you go through an amazing campaign story mode.

But no…It just ends abruptly out of nowhere and the game is pretty much a grindfest or pay wall from that point onwards. You try to play a friendly match, you get in a game with ai or players. Players have better decks than you because you are a noob who hasn’t paid any money to buy all the cards and build better decks or grind for hundreds of hours, so you get pummelled because the matchmaker is trash like most card games.

I am a pretty big fan of slay the spire (550+ hours) and I was happy to see another game that is similar, but still has enough differences to not feel like the same game.

The card upgrade system is alright. Cards upgrade based off of how many times you use that specific card. Which is an interesting idea however it obviously encourages you to stall fights so that you can use the cards as many times as you can before fights get harder. I decided not to omega abuse this just because it makes things go so much slower that it isn’t all that much fun.

Great game - having a lot of fun with it. Took me about 20 hours to reach the end of the current content, but it’s pretty evident that there’s a good deal more to come. And I’m still looking forward to diving back in to try some new things.

Little more information for those that want it

Much of the criticisms I’ve seen concern: “massive amounts of bugs,” clunky interface, irritating foes, randomness of cards - here’s my take on those:

bugs: 20 hours - from tutorial all the way to the end - and I’ve never seen a single bug. Doesn’t mean they’re not there. But I haven’t seen any - let alone massive numbers of them.

Cosmica

Cosmica

The game has some polishing to do - things are a little tricky to figure out at first; there’s too much text on some screens; and I like the retro vibes from the art style, but not all the cards have unique art at this point. Once you past the initial lack of clarity though, it’s interesting and unique gameplay. The card effects are simple yet the strategy is intricate, and the deck manipulation aspect is something I haven’t experienced before - l have to think about every play, as opposed to some rogue-like deckbuilders where I often feel I’m on autopilot. I tried it on Steam Link too, and it transfers nicely to mobile. I look forward to seeing what comes of it.
