HELLCARD
Hellcard is a cooperative roguelike deckbuilder that can be played in both Singleplayer and Multiplayer modes. The game takes place in the paper dungeons known from Book of Demons, but its main mechanics revolve around deckbuilding and fast-paced tactical turn-based card battles.
What makes HELLCARD unique and different from games such as Slay the Spire is that monster placement actually matters and can be used to your advantage.
In HELLCARD we’re planning to support co-op battles with up to three heroes facing Archdemon’s hordes. You’ll be able to descend into the dungeons solo, recruit computer-controlled companions or join your friends or strangers in their battles against the hordes of hell.
If the above features get you excited, be sure to wishlist the game now on Steam. Otherwise consider wishlisting anyway - who knows, maybe we will get you excited along the way!
About Return 2 Games series
Return 2 Games is a series of unique mid-core games inspired by the golden days of PC gaming. Each R2G title is a tribute to a single hit game from the ’90s: a reimagining of a single universal story for a brand-new audience, using modern means and innovative, often vastly simplified gameplay mechanics.
HELLCARD internally started as an idea for a new game mode inside Book of Demons (the first game in the R2G series), but we soon realized that it’s a much bigger design and that it should be executed as a separate stand-alone spin-off game. If you want to learn more about Return 2 Games or support us in the development of the series, visit the Supporter Pack store page. On release, HELLCARD will be a part of it.

UNIQUE DECKBUILDER COMBAT

Necronator: Dead Wrong
With almost 15 hours under my belt, here’s my thoughts.
The game is setup in an RTS meets deck-builder. This gives the game a different feel than your straight up deck builders (like Slay the Spire or Banners of Ruin). Since the battle is semi-automated, you just have to manage your resources. But don’t call it easy, because there is a great challenge sometimes in keeping up with the various levels; especially with the “survive for xxx seconds” maps.
You get commanders with different playstyles. One is a straight-up combat deck and the other is a toy-box style deck with few normal units. You can also unlock alternate decks for the commanders for even more variation at the start. The upgrade paths for the cards can be a bit random, so the rogue-like element is there and can either flummox you or really help you.

Mostly fun game, has some fairly obnoxious/punishing game mechanics.
For starters, there are a decent number of relics (items that effect everything, usually based on some criteria) that give you some strong boosts if you have fielded less than 6 units. Then half the game is spent playing against enemies who get to make a card in your hand useless every few seconds if you have less than 10 (will be lowing to 6 according to the roadmap) units on the field. Do you want to try and field a small but strong elite army if the relics line up right? Good luck when you have to wait for mana to regen and by that point there is a solid chance that your card gets ‘silenced’. Silenced isnt just some minor condition that can be fixed, its a card in your hand that now CANT DO ANYTHING. The only way to get rid of it is to redraw your hand, which can cost from free (if you wait long enough and are playing the toy maker) to 40 mana (of which you only get 100 from the base hero).

A Long Way Down
As it sits right now, A Long Way Down is an incomplete game that is hampered by bugs - but this is an Early Access title so I can forgive this. That said, I can’t say I was particularly all that interested in this game; nor was I particularly interested in the element of ‘farming’ that this game seems to encourage.
The gimmick of this card rogue-like is that you are given an incomplete dungeon layout - a lot of tiles will be floating in, well, Limbo, and you will ‘build’ your path through the dungeon with tiles you can set down. There are many event tiles that you can come across and interact with - as well as of course enemies to encounter.

BATTLESHIP APOLLO
UPDATE: Now that I have 170+ hours in the game and Parallel Space has stated that there will be no major changes to BSA until full release, I think it’s time for me to give an update.
Simply put, the effort put into BSA’s weekly updates has been phenomenal. The team at Parallel Space is extremely responsive to community feedback, and the weekly updates (that have since stopped for now) provide enough new content or changes to keep the community excited. Parallel Space stated that they wanted the community to shape the game, and I personally believe that they listen to our opinions (much to the chagrin of Hades' Star players).

It’s only right that I update my review from Early Access to address the state of the game as it is now. As always, if you’re the type of person who immediately gets furious when they encounter a mobile game in the world (regardless of how well designed or deep it is) then this isn’t for you. That’s okay, there’s plenty of other games out there.
If you’re still here, this is my pitch:
Parallel Space is very good at taking familiar genres, cutting to the heart of what makes them fun to play, and polishing that experience to a mirror shine. Their games reward patience and thought.

Vault of the Void
Challenging, fair, and fun deckbuilder that respects your time and brings meaningfully novel mechanics to the genre.
Vault of the Void doesn’t feel like early access, yet I am excited that it is.
When I started my very first game of Vault of the Void, I wasn’t sure if it would click with me. I needed to see depth, but at first there was only complexity. I wanted the stimulation of challenging puzzles and the pull of seeking and sequencing powerful combos; instead, I was met with loads of text (with tooltips for some things) and a bizarre mechanic where enemies announce their attack, make their attack, but don’t actually do damage until the end of your following turn.

This hidden gem deserves more recognition than it currently receives. Personal views sees this game as a fantastic deckbuilder game. I’d even deem it on par with Slay the Spire, the corner-stone and genesis of many deckbuilders on steam. Here is a perspective to appreciate this unrecognized game:
Vault of the Void establishes a sense of strategy to it more so than other deckbuilding games. This includes each battle reward known prior to starting a floor. This allows the player to strategically plan their route from the start of the game. Additionally, the player, prior to the run’s beginning, inspects the vault guardians at the final floor. These vault guardians possess mechanically intense battles, and rewards to fight the final boss: the Void. These two out of four vault guardians must be killed prior to killing the Void, so prepare for difficult fights and satisfying rewards by strategically building decks.

Magic of Autumn
This game has its high points and low points, it’s a good value for the cost but not everyone will enjoy it.
The card battling is interesting, you don’t get to re-use cards so you have to carefully build your deck and choose how you play. I found it very thought provoking and a fun challenge, but you cannot expect a traditional deck shuffler here.
The atmosphere is very nice, I liked the art style and the story snippets contributed nicely to the feel of the world.
The system of learning spells (cards) by interacting with things made the world feel alive, although it was frustrating to figure out I had missed something and have to go back and find it. Also some stuff moved around frustratingly out of reach, it took me about 10 minutes of patrolling a corner waiting for one thing to pass close enough.
– Real player with 11.3 hrs in game
It’s a shame such a wonderful game goes unnoticed.
It’s a little adventure game about conjuring everything you find on your way and creating cards from it. You’ll face enemies with a lot of different strategies and you’ll have to adapt your deck accordingly.
The graphics may look simple, but they work really well all together.
And the music. Oh, the music. Simple, same as the graphics, but astoundingly charming. If the developer releases the soundtrack as an extra, I’ll buy it, no hesitation.

Ash of Gods: The Way
Twenty years have passed since the Great War. Frisa and Berkana kingdoms have managed to forge an uneasy peace but old grievances are not forgotten and new war is inevitable.
The Frisians have groomed new and talented commanders. They did this using a secret game developed by their best strategists to teach young aristocrats tactics and the art of war. Only by proving their tactical prowess can Frisian nobles achieve respect and a high rank. This way, only the best of the best make their way into the command. And soon, Frisa will be ready to strike.
Finn, a young and talented foster-son of Eik, the Berkanan secret service master and a veteran of the old war, is sent on a dangerous mission to participate in Frisian tournaments against the best of nobility in order to stop the war before it starts by eliminating top generals on the tournament arenas.
Gather characters, items and spells, learn about factions and their skills and abilities, level them up to create strong complementary decks and to build unique strategies to surprise your opponents on the battlefield.
