Last Day of Rome

Last Day of Rome

A promising game, but so much bugs after only a couple of hours ! This game is clearly not finished and broken. I would really like to play this game, but at that point, it’s more a pain than a game. Too bad.

Here are some. There are probably more:

  • the biggest bug : manual battles! I had to Alt+F4 so many times because it seems to freeze if I move the mouse too fast over an unit while some are fighting (not sure about that). Or when I’m attacked and have defense buildings, the game freeze after the IA made his attack. Really painfull. This is one of the major bugs to my point of view.

New game in my library - Last Day of Rome

This is a military-economic strategy about ancient Rome since the 2nd century AD.

In short: we take command of a people within the borders of Rome. We will have to use both tactics and strategy, and

diplomacy. Therefore, it is possible to gain respect among their own people and, for example, to raid or launch a campaign against the 1st Reich xD

Actually, the system is nothing new, we control any country in Europe, we build buildings and

infrastructure in their regions, that is, we focus on the development of our army through the study of new technologies.

Can’t give this one a good review, sadly. The bits and pieces seem nice, but it doesn’t make for a fun gaming experience.

The art and music is perhaps the best aspect of the game, the controls work fine as well.

That said the game feels very under-documented, and the games do not seem very fun or balanced, I win every time without even knowing what I am doing.

Perhaps the biggest weakness is that you cannot gain experience points except in multiplayer, and I have never been able to find anyone else to play it with.

SGS Afrika Korps: Tunisia:

The successful Anglo-American operation to invade the French colonies of Morocco and Algeria in November 1942, codenamed Operation Torch, was a massive steppingstone for the Allies in North Africa. From there, they had to conquer Tunisia to open a second front against the Axis and to disrupt their supply lines from Sicily to the ports of Tunis and Bizerte! And it also permitted the Allies to invade Sicily in July 1943\. So, who are you going to command for the battle of Tunisia? Will it be the Allies or the Axis? Either way, good luck to you, commander in SGS Afrika Korps: Tunisia.

I'm not an expert in turn-based games, but I'm interested in military history, WWII in particular, and that's why I tried this game. I actually won it, during a draw.

Overall I find it to be good, a mix of card-drawing, turn-based play, with dice roll and phases.

I like:

- the graphical representation of the units on the maps, which resemble those in Osprey's books

- the fact that there is no HEX, but rather regions

- you can move your units in different ways, not in a straight line

- events and historical places

## The Amazing American Circus

**Target Audience:** _Those Willing to Take the Lows With The Highs in Card RPGs_

**Summary:**

This is a recommendation in essence, but for a specific subset of people.

I'm going to be straight up from the get go here: The Amazing American Circus is one of those games that I want to love up and down, but ended up being the biggest thorn in my side due to what happened during the review period. To say that I faced some of the worst bugs: specifically saved game bugs, in my review career would have been an understatement: I had **8 separate runs** break wildly in that period where I could not continue to make progress. While those bugs **seem** to be fixed now, I have a form of PTSD at this point. Every time I play, I'm waiting for the game to break again. Hell, even the video I made had a major bug in it. There's a reason I have around 40+ hours of gameplay without actually beating the game, and to say it hung over the experience would be an understatement to say the least.

This is not a Slay to Spire, this is not a Monster Train. The Amazing American Circus is not a roguelike-roguelite card game, it is more like a card game built around a campaign, with some management sim built around it, in which you need to cover the costs, upgrades etc from the incomes you get during the shows.

If you more curious about the game, and want to check a short, ~20mins long video in which I showing what content you could expect from the game with one circus show (card battle) included, then here is mine:

![SteelPinion](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1770000/header.jpg "")

## SteelPinion

SteelPinion is a steampunk turn based tactical strategy game with a dash of autobattler. Deep fleet customization synergies can be created or disrupted by the modding community. _(NOTE: This steampage will be updated frequently as development continues)_

#### An Alternate History

Experience a conspiratorial retelling of history where steampunkery,

chivalry, and explosive elemental weaponry prevails. Procedural spice flavors every encounter with new unknowns in the otherwise hand-crafted environments. Meet three warring factions with distinct technology and heros.

#### Tactical Battles

Combat in SteelPinion is a mix of well known tactics game genre staples, with a new difficult to implement mechanic - simultaneous turn resolution.

Position your airships well, allowing your best armored angle to withstand opponent's salvos; all the while exploiting their exposed angle.

The advantage is not always as simple as "get behind and shoot em" since players may have altered an airship to their liking and your dismay!

#### Unique "Steamflakes"

While we want the game to have a low barrier of entry and will have some preset faction fleet configurations; players are encouraged to branch out mixing faction components and create a strategy that wrecks.

Speaking of which, salvage wreckage from other players and add their components to your own fleet as a reward for your victory.

Don't worry if you lose, your engineers back at the shipyard can literally work miracles and bring you back from a pile of scraps. (Reminder to hug your nearest engineer buddy… umm on second thought, don't do that).

#### Sit Down

Sitting can be exciting when you are customizing individual ships components/subsystems and pilot abilities that work together. Use a deck building approach when designing your fleet for a cozy unrushed experience.

#### Flip Tables

Hate customizing? Just want to see stuff blow up before putting on your pajamas? Then use player published presets to get by and smash our inferior AI _(you're better than AI right?)_.

#### Know Better Than Us

An ole saying "the customer is always right" has conflicting reception. We know that players inevitably will surpass us in playtime, eventually knowing the metagame better. So we want to make absolutely sure that the metagame is always in the hands of the player. A carefully integrated repo will expose public mods, automatically making them available in the game for playtesting and fun - woohoo devOps automation!

#### Friendly for Kids

That doesn't mean "made for kids", however, you can safely play this in front of your favorite young mind without fear. The game's violence is steampunk machines blowing each-other up. Just like a little boy crashing a tower.

#### Get bailed out if you're an underdog

You are admiral, and you should live with the consequences of your bad commands - or not. Get bailed out by allocating more engineers to repair your desolate fleet. Everyone knows that assigning more engineers speeds up delivery time! In the same way, you can order around your lackeys to "just get it done" and they will; there is no punishment for being a bad tactician, but there are rewards for being a good tactician.
