The Invisible Hand
Great Concept, But Not Great Execution
Pros:
I found this game very relevant given the recent activity with stocks like Gamestop and AMC. People are really hyped up on stocks but many don’t even know what shorting a stock means. This game can provide you a basic education on stocks and some insight on what it is like to be a stock trader which is really pretty cool. You will learn how the world is interconnected such as when lumber prices go up housing prices tend to follow suit or how a war in a country can affect the prices of certain goods. This game also hints that there is some manipulation in the trading world and quite frankly I absolutely 100% agree with that.

Interesting concept, but flawed execution. The writing should have been done by real writers, as its about as subtle as a sledgehammer driving a tack through a wall, but I’m glad it’s there. This is the only stock sim game that is wrapped around any kind of narrative, to my knowledge (aside from Wall Street Kid on OG Nintendo). The game is very, very light on realism, as all you can do is buy at current price and short at current price. The markets are quite reliably predictable, as well. If you want something like this but that feels somewhat more like a sim and is more difficult and complex, check out ‘wall street raider’ or ‘speculator’ by roninsoft.

“Warehouse Tycoon”
Do you know how to program in Lua? Are you bummed by this game not being as good as it should be? message me. I recommend the game, however only if you know how to program either in Lua or are willing to learn so that you can fix his glitches and crappy programming and make it better. Half of my play-time is due to me fixing the game and running it over and over again. Again, message me if you’re interested in helping me fix this because the developer is never touching it again.

Espresso Tycoon
Espresso Tycoon is a brand-new approach to the old classic tycoon games you remember from your childhood. You will deal with a hardcore management and an economy full of variable structures, connections and solutions. The best of the best will be able to build a successful coffee business and possibly a whole coffee empire.
Just imagine… you can build your own coffee shop! Everything is in your hands. Build the whole strategy, which includes:
-
picking the best spot for your café
-
decorating
-
hiring and managing employees
-
optimizing the ingredients supply
-
analyzing the budget
-
advertising your coffee shop
What do you expect from a visit to a coffee shop? A great experience! That’s why, when you’re building your own, you have to consider a lot of details – location, decoration, employees, music, the atmosphere… and the main product - the coffee itself.
You have your favorite coffee, right? So do your customers. Do the market research to find out their preferences. Use a 3D coffee editor to make different recipes to delight them. You can combine multiple ingredients in a very creative way.
Start, build and develop your coffee shop. Check your budget - do you have enough money to invest, or will you have to make some cuts? Decide where and when you want to start your new coffee business.
GearCity
I got this game ~16~ days ago (edit… 22 … maybe 23…. thanks steam…. did anything important happen in the last three weeks that I should be aware of?) …. I’ve played 300 hours, which says something about the immersiveness of this game.
By far the best business management game I’ve played. It’s truly a master work of the genre. I tend to like strategy games, sports management sims and art tools, this draws a little bit of inspiration from each. When you need to take a break from the day to day plan of building a massive automotive empire, you can exercise other parts of your brain tuning up new engines, or designing the look of your next (hopefully) hot selling vehicle. This ability to shift gears keeps the game engaging.

At over 800 hours I can safely say Gear city is a great simulation/game venturing more on the sim side. It has come a long way though it still has a few minor quirks that irritate me, however most of these will either be my own opinion (and yours may vary) and some are due to engine limitations at the time the project was started. That said the game is very playable and provides a lot of fun. Eric (The Developer) is fast to get back to people and help you solve issues and answer questions, he has been constantly working to make this game even better. I only took a break from the game because every time I hit 1930 in game an update comes out and I have to start over so patiently waiting for 1.25 RC2 which should be the last time you have to start a new game.

NBA 2K20
This is not a gameplay review. I’m gonna try to be as brief as possible.I am a LONG time basketball game player, actually since these things exist. I’ve seen everything. Yet, i’ve never seen anything like Nba 2k. On one hand you’ve got a solid base game with an enormous amount of content and potential. The gameplay is actually the most solid it’s been in years, even the story in my career is by far the least cringey i’ve ever seen. The graphics could though really use a new engine, as this one’s been showing signs of old age for quite some time. But on the other hand, you’ve got a publisher who literally doesn’t give a single f$%### about the users. The game is riddled with bugs that have been there for years and haven’t gotten addressed, they’re still the single most greedy gaming publisher in the world with the pay to play mechanics of the Virtual currency, but THE ABSOLUTELY WORST part of it all….

Fuck this game. Don’t give 2K your money until they learn to respect their customers.
1. The servers suck. Not only is it hard to sometimes find other players, but even when you do connect the delay is very noticeable, and in a game where timing is key, it makes it unplayable at times.
2. Matchmaking is bad. You either play against someone who’ll mercilessly crush you, or someone who just booted up the game for the first time. It’s rare when you’ll actually compete with someone at your level.

Warehouse Simulator
Well what can I say! Warehouse Simulator is exactly what it says on the tin, if you want to spend your free time feeling like you’re at work except you have to pay to play and don’t earn any money then i recommend you purchase this game!
Obviously the game is in beta and there is a lot that could be included to make this game that little bit more interesting! But for an early release game it functions fairly well and I enjoyed taking the truck out for a spin on the open road!

The game currently (0.0.1) seems to only have a short amount of playtime, you can be done in 2 hours. I did enjoy learning how to drive a forklift and using the different views to help move pallets with the forklift was extremely useful. Game needs some options to allow inverting mouse axis and sensitivity. I’m looking forward to seeing the train component that is currently “No Available”.

Academia : School Simulator
I am a huge fan of Rimworld, I really enjoyed Prison Architect and plus, I’m a teacher. So I was pretty excited about this game.
I’m giving it a hesitant thumbs up on the premise that it will deliver on its promises as it progresses through EA. It’s very bare bones at the moment but I’m hopeful that it will live up to its potential as its exactly the kind of game that I would love if it were much, much bigger.
As a teacher, I do have some feedback on the academic side of things for the developers:

TL;DR
It’s fine, but not worth $20 because it has very little replay value.
Overview
Academia: School Simulator is a game. It’s challenging to call it a good game, but it certainly isn’t a bad one. I originally purchased this game after seeing it on youtube and being interesting in a school sandbox game, in which I could do a variety of things from build the best school, to making a living hellscape. Academia: School Simulator, did not meet those expectations.
Story
I don’t truly demand story in every game I play, but I feel like this could use a little… anything? I dunno even just a: Gramps left me his inheritance and I was told to spend it on his dying wish: building a school. Whatever, moving on.
