Steamulator 2019

Steamulator 2019

Disclosure: I’m friends with one of the conceptualizers of the game.

Enjoyable game for the price. Simplistic in nature but a generally addictive nature will make players want to keep coming back to the game. The game has you running your own Steam storefront where you have to monitor your stats to assure they aren’t too high or too low, otherwise its game over.

The game suffers from some bugs such as no matter what the event is, every time you swipe right on a card, your game count will increase by 1, even if the choice doesn’t involve publishing a game to Steam and the confusing stat adjustments made in correspondence with your decisions (how does accepting games have the same positive influence on developers as when you deny them?)

Well I originally wrote a long rant about why I hate these devs after they’re first success that was half-decent, but then I realized I would probably get deleted for it, so here’s my attempt at a reasonable and constructive review for this game.

Don’t buy it, Reigns is better. Long story short, it just seems like a cash grab to me, as was their last game after the initial lootbox simulator success that was alright but probably not worth the cost. It’s a half baked concept they put a price on to cash in on. Or perhaps an attempt at a game inspired by games like reign that they gave up on either out of boredom or inability to manage to work out kinks and bugs. I would suggest Game Dev Tycoon or other similar rip offs if you’re looking for the steam-esque simulators. I have a degree in computer game development that I haven’t used in 3 years because I wasn’t a fan of it, so I have a basic understanding of how to make a game. If I bothered to do research I could probably make this myself for free. Anyway, not worth a look if you ask me, if you’re looking for anything from these guys, the only good thing is I can’t believe it’s not Gambling, the first one, not the second.

Chimpology

Chimpology

Chimpology is a retro pixel button mashing game where you must hit the keys corresponding to “1” and “0” in sequence. Get the numbers right and you can progress. Enough mistakes and you lose. For some reason they decided that despite having “0” and “1” keys on your keyboard, they should be “z” and “m” because apparently these guys never saw a keyboard before.

There’s no other gameplay to speak of here. Graphics are ugly. The developers seem to have put more effort into explaining why their terrible game works the way it does (chimpanzees or something) than actually developing a game people might enjoy. Totally not worth $3.

Karen: An Outrage Simulator

Karen: An Outrage Simulator

I went into this game expecting 45 minutes-1 hour’s worth of silly little content that would give me, someone who’s worked in food and retail, a good laugh.

What I got was 3 hours of organ rupturing good humored, nail on the head scenarios that were so scarily familiar but also insanely ridiculous.

Without spoiling anything (yes, yes, there is a plot, and it is delicious), you go through a good handful of incredibly unique, inconvenient situations that could truly happen to anybody. No level feels like a repeat, no joke feels overused or like low-hanging fruit (unless you count the entire premise of the game as low hanging fruit). If you play on Normal mode, you have to figure out how to manipulate different characters to get what you want purely through intuition and guess work, WITHOUT you (Karen) becoming outraged and making a disaster of the place.

Similar to other reviews, I thought this game would be shorter…offering maybe an hour of content. I ended up streaming it for over 3 hours.

I played this with a couple of other friends and we all took turns voice-acting Karen and the other characters. We spent so much time laughing our sides were sore!

I’ve also worked 7 years in retail and, again like other reviewers, have encountered my fair share of “Karens” and this game accurately depicts the stereotypical Karen in her natural habitat.

Gremlins, Inc. – Card Game

Gremlins, Inc. – Card Game

This original digital card game offers intense sessions for 2 to 6 players. At the core of gameplay lie two key mechanics: “hand management” and “take that”.

SET IN THE WORLD OF GREMLINS, INC.

The game is set in the world of corrupt capitalist gremlins of the future, the setting that’s already familiar to the tabletop community from the digital board game Gremlins, Inc. .

This card game is a standalone game with its own original set of rules and mechanics, and does not require ownership or previous experience with the previously released digital board game.

BUILD PROJECTS WHILE ATTACKING OTHERS AND DEFENDING YOUR OWN ACHIEVEMENTS

The sessions are played for score and for rounds. The player with the highest score at the end of the session wins. Build temporary and permanent projects, play instant action cards and camouflage your plans from the opponents while preparing your attacks.

SINGLE-PLAYER AND MULTIPLAYER MODES

The sessions typically last between 20 and 60 minutes. The game supports single-player and multiplayer modes, including peer to peer sessions as well as games played on the official servers, and allows to play with different decks.

PROVEN BY REAL-LIFE SESSIONS

Before we set to make it into a digital game, this project existed as a real-life card game enjoyed around the world in 6 languages.

A VIBRANT COMMUNITY AND A PUBLIC ROADMAP

We release this card game under the Early Access program as we’ll be expanding and modifying it based on the community feedback. The roadmap includes such features as team mode, ranked sessions and the support of Steam Workshop.

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Gambling 2(K)

The float on the drop sucks and the minigames are a chore really - good try tho.

Also the spin is so damn slow that I just want to leave my computer alone while it clicks for me.

As a note, I enjoyed the previous installments of the franchise; but this one has too many waiting mechanics that I can’t get myself to play it.

Not worth the asking price for a idle clicker

K so after finishing the game here is my Review comparing it to the first game!

Over all a bit of a let down i feel…

ill give a score and quick breakdown :)

(tldr)Score 6/10

+8 for the memes.

+1 Low Price.

+1 Nice Skin/Machine Textures.

+1 Chill Sound.

+1 Washed Hands.

-1 Lack of Machine types(3) compared to the boxes in the first game.

-1 No way of Knowing how many Spins have been Taken witch is also less content vs the first game which a LvL up per draw.

-1 Minigame was far to inconsistent and personally i found Boring but maybe I’m just a snake fan i guess XD

Yerba Mate Tycoon

Yerba Mate Tycoon

Overall 7/10 at the current price. I look forward to seeing where this game goes.

This game has potential, but it seems early in development. The core game mechanic revolves around creating yerba mate blends, and functions similar to Game Dev Tycoon. Each production cycle you chose some options and try to find the right mix for the market. The products sell on the market for 8 months and either increase or decrease in sales based upon marketing and how well the market appreciates the current product. There are sliders where you adjust variables within each production cycle like taste, appearance, and aroma. There is some research that unlocks some additional options to add a bit more depth.

It was either this or two Guaymallén Alfajores.

First off, I want to say that I really appreciate the developer making a game as niche as this. I never thought tycoon games would get as specific as focusing on a South American drink that’s relatively obscure outside the continent save for a few countries. It’s really clear that this was a passion project and that the dev really put time and care into Yerba mate Tycoon and genuinely likes working on it.

The gameplay is very similar to Game Dev Tycoon in some aspects, but it introduces new gameplay aspects as well. The first ones that come to mind are the abilities to purchase rival companies and the fact that the process for making your Mate is more in depth than making your game in Game Dev Tycoon. The soundtrack is pretty upbeat, it’s not the highlight of the game, but it adds enough so that the game doesn’t get too boring.

Doomer

Doomer

In the game you have to earn money. You can play on a crypto exchange, or just collect bottles on the street.

Money is an integral part of the gameplay; it is used to buy food, alcohol, cigarettes and other at a local small shop, as well as various things on the Internet’s shops.

All this is necessary to maintain the physical condition of the main hero at the proper level. You can no longer sit at the computer carefree, addictions interfere with this, and money is needed to quench them.

Your only friend is a white rat. Stroking it fur lifts your spirits a little.

Mechanics and features

  • A operating system on your pc

  • Trading on the gaming exchange

  • Collectiong of glass botles on the street to sell it on collection point

  • Food cooking

  • Ability to buy junk on the Internet and furnish a room with it

  • Music player in your phone, with an excellent selection of Russian post-rock

Rip Them Off

Rip Them Off

★★★☆☆

First and foremost: this is a mobile game, so its interface and the pacing is build as one. It is also cheaper on iOS (4 euros).

A stylistic tower-defence game that lacks a lot of room for the player to explore, leading to a lot of trial-and-error. Each level consists of a street or more with adjacent buildings. You’ve to figure out which store will be active in the preset buildings so that every customer eventually emptied its wallet by the end of the street. There are no differences between the pedestrians. If they walk on the same side of the street, they’ll all have the same amount of money and they’ll walk at the same speed. They’ll go into the store if there’s room.

This game bills itself as a puzzley tower defense game, but is

none of the above. The way to solve each “puzzle” is to guess

correctly at what kind of shop should go where, and when to

upgrade them. There is no strategy or clue decoding. There is a

help button that tells you the correct answer, and that’s

basically it.

Tower defense games give players choices and tradeoffs. Puzzle

games give players the tools they need to solve the puzzle. This

game gives players a bunch of things to try.

Pros: The music is nice. The flavor text is sometimes amusing.

This game is trying to convey the atmosphere of the popular series, and makes it possible to feel like a player fighting for remuneration in the deadly battle against others, although virtual, players.

Just as the series has the game “Red Light, Green Light”, and “Glass Bridge” and other tests. The creator tried to convey the atmosphere of the show to each player, give pleasant impressions. And as for me, it turned out well.

So I recommend the game to the acquisition, especially the fans of the series.
