REDSHOT

REDSHOT

After crash landing on a fringe planet in the outer edges of the galaxy, Jack “Goose” Redshot is given a mission to rescue the royal family of the city of Carcosa from a mysterious supernatural invader, who has laid siege to the city and it’s inhabitants. With over 200 rooms to explore and many weapons, items, and secrets to find, fans of the genre will find a challenging but fair adventure to be had in the wild lands of Carcosa.

EXPLORE A VAST NON-LINEAR WORLD

Travel to the land of Carcosa where the great capitol city is under siege by an unknown off world invader. Explore the city and it’s surrounding landscape to restore the defense network, and save the city from total destruction. Tackle objectives in any order and explore the non-linear world map to find many hidden secrets and goodies!

CHOOSE YOUR FAVORITE WEAPONS FROM A MULTITUDE OF GUNS AND ITEMS

Use a plethora of different guns, weapons, and items to strategically outwit your enemies in fast-paced, deadly combat encounters. With over 10 different guns to acquire and even more secondary weapons, each with their own advantages and disadvantages, you will be tasked with equipping the right tools for the right job. Matching the right weapon with the right situation will help you greatly.

USE BULLET TIME TO OUTWIT YOUR FOES

Your focus bar allows you to slow time to fire off quick and accurate attacks, as well as quickly dodge incoming attacks to avoid damage. However, use them too much and you might end up in a critical spot! Slowing and dodging drains your stamina meter, but using them both will come in clutch to get you out of some sticky situations!

[DISCOVER NEW UPGRADES AND RECRUIT THE DENIZENS OF CARCOSA]

Scattered across the world are upgrades to discover, from genre staples like the double-jump to companion characters that can help you in battle. Even rarer are special hats to find, which will offer helpful perks for you when equipped. A full AI system for all enemies and NPCs allow them to directly interact with each other and the environment, and getting in their good favor may even compel them to follow you around and help you out!

FIGHT OVER A DOZEN MENACING BOSSES

Carcosa is infested with creatures and beasts both native and offworld, and there will be many that must be overcome to complete your objective. Over 30 enemy types and a dozen bosses means learning each enemy’s behavior will go a long way to controlling a battle zone. COMBOHEAD

COMBOHEAD

Disclaimer: I received this game for free

Combohead is an enjoyable spin on a classic formula. The physics are fun to goof around with, and the different ball behaviors mix up the play, keeping it fresh throughout the campaign. It’s feels really good when you set up a nice sequence of moves. However, I also enjoy the zen vibes the game can have if you just want to kick a ball around while talking to someone. Replayability is solid with the time scores on the campaign levels, but especially with the endless mode. The sound effects are meaty, the particle effects are satisfying, and thus the impact of kicking feels like it has weight to it. The soundtrack does a good job of keeping the energy of the experience high.

Friendship Club

Friendship Club

Friendship Club is a great little top down arena shooter, perfect for sitting an the sofa and playing with friends.

With randomly generated levels and a heap of different modes to try, this game does not get old, me and my friends always have a good time playing it. Friendship Club, without fail, takes me back to being a kid sitting on bedroom floors, playing games!

I wouldn’t normally recommend early access games, but Friendship Club is definitely amongst the more polished ones. It feels like a playable game rather than one pushed out far too early, and with regular updates its nice to see the game grow as the development continues!

Friendship Club is a great game, with great art, design and music.

I love the fantastic variety of modes and the ability to customise them to your heart’s content. I especially enjoyed Bullet Hell where the bullets literally never stop flying and Trick Shot where the game turns into a quick thinking vs. puzzle game.

The controls and menus are simple, colourful and perfectly pitched for a party game. The matches get crazy hectic and it really is a lot of fun.

Can’t wait for the introduction of the single player mode to iron out my strategies too!

Pixel Galaxy

Pixel Galaxy

This game is ridiculously fun and bursting with creativity. I’ve never even played a bullet hell game before this one and I love it! The local co-op is also really fun to play and it lets you laugh at your ridiculous deaths with your friends! It’s got a bit of a difficulty spike but there are many modes to play and I still think it’s fun even when I do suck at it. It’s a great game whether you’re playing casually or seriously. The soundtrack is amazing, the graphics are sleek and colorful, and the gameplay is interesting, simple to learn, and challenging without being too frustrating. The ton of achievements also add a lot of humor and replay value to this game.

TLDR: One-screen endless wave survival bullet hell in which you collect pixels and evade others. Hard to tell which is which aas they are not consistently color coded. Game balance is iffy.

The problem with Pixel Galaxy is that it only does one thing and it does not do that one thing all that well. Collecting power ups makes your ship larger and thus easier to hit since your hitbox grows so large and the pixel patterns can be too tight together to avoid.

This game has huge potential. When it plays right, it’s addictive. The slow-mo 3D aim needs work, but the core game works pretty well. Some fine-tuning to the controls, more levels, and additions to the gameplay especially with the gun-fu moves (Adding more) this could go from a good game to a great game. Hope they update over time and soon. They have something here.

Definitely Sneaky But Not Sneaky

Definitely Sneaky But Not Sneaky

great game. totally worth the price. weapons feel good, tons of levels and a hoard mode, and it gets 100x better with friends. my only complaints are the lack of vsync (on linux at least, idk if the windows version has it) and I feel like the weapons system could have been pushed a bit further. I would like to see some more utilities like temporary invisibility or a dash/speed boost. A chainsaw would be cool too. I give a 9/10 considering the price.

I consider myself to be a social gamer, meaning I often don’t gravitate towards games that aren’t specifically made for multiplayer; however a friend of mine wouldn’t stop recommending Definitely Sneaky But Not Sneaky, and now I’m so glad he did. My expectations were surpassed to say the least, and I absolutely loved the Co-op aspect of it, because of how valuable teamwork can be, and how the action of “Accidentally” shooting my own teammate was never met with frustration, rather a seemingly endless hilarity that eventually became part of the game when me and my brother played together.
