Ellipsis
Ellipsis was quite a delightful surprise for me. I recieved it as part of a Humble Freedom Bundle (Feb 2017) and having played it I can say it is definately worth purchasing on it’s own. It’s an arcade style game that has over 150ish levels where you collect five orbs while avoiding traps and enemies. Blue good, red bad. The universe which you play through is interesting throughout, and the difficulty slowly increases always keeping you on your toes, but never making you want to bang your head on your desk.

Ellipsis is a game where you collect 5 bubbles before flying through a goal at the end. Enemies try to kill you before that happens.
Do I recommend this game? Yes! After getting 100% on the game, I think you can overlook the issues I list down below and have a great time! It’s worth the price and even more so on sale!
The levels are well-made and you want to keep trying them over and over to get those ellusive 5 stars. The controls are tight (mostly) and the enemies are really diverse, so it doesn’t get boring. I love the aesthetic (many have said it reminds them of Geometry Wars, which I like as well). Also as you complete levels, it creates a giant picture made up of the lines from level to level and little representations of the enemies. I love this idea and I enjoy zooming out and seeing all the progress you’ve made!

Phoenix Force
If I could describe this game in one word… it’d be…
Lazy.
Look, I wanted to like this game, I love boss arena bullet hell games. One hit kill? Bring it freaking on! Taste the full color spectrum of mythical birds with unique elemental stuff? I’ll get my box of cereal ready! HELL YEAH WE’RE GONNA PECK SOME… oh.
So by boss Arena you mean have tough (high hp) enemy sway side to side with an attack gimmick. Ok…not much of a boss but ok…do they multi phase at least? Well if by multi fast you mean they throw in an additional attack and attack faster then…sure. They have a “Final” attack that if you do enough damage to them you can bypass…and that’s about it.

First of all: This is not a classic Shoot’em Up, because all you will be doing here is one bossfight after the other. There is no real story behind it, and if there was maybe a small table of text in the beginning of the game, I have totally forgotten about it, as it doesn’t matter anyway. This game is about pure action and reaction spread across 100 levels and even more challenge levels (if you dare to try them).
Although each of these levels consists of a relatively small amount of assets when it comes to background or enemy types, they are mixed up constantly so the game manages through this restriction to give the player a completely new challenge on each end every level. Where in between there are next to no loading times, wich makes the game nonstop action and because of that very enjoyable and fast paced itself.

Drawkanoid
Absolutely love the balance of tension. It’s definitely exploring things left untouched in other re-interpretations of this classic, feels like the ultimate version of the brickbreaker genre.
omg, the hexagonal enemies are amazing for all the rebounding goodness, but the little orange rounds are complete nonsense.

Drawkanoid: Satisfyingly Chaotic
The premise of “Breakout but you draw your paddle” sounds interesting in theory and is actually really interesting in practice. The visuals do the game a huge service, especially when you manage to get an insane combo. It’s a nice game to come back to every so often and (unlike say “Super Hexagon") becomes more a game of endurance and in the moment decision making rather than one of reflex.
I’d recommend it! it’s like… the price of a lunch… and you get to keep it too. Definitely gonna play some more of it!
