I really enjoyed this game. I would recommend it to anyone that likes the challenge of overcoming an obstacle… anyone that is a fan of the dark souls games would have fun with this one.

At 5 dollars it is at least worth the try for the music alone.

Neon Ships: The Type’em Up Shooter

Neon Ships: The Type’em Up Shooter

At first glance, the game seams like any other spaceshoot but when you start playing it you realize that the “type system” add a whole new level of gameplay and this makes for a unique experience! Recommended for anyone who wanna try something different and challenging.

This is a nice idea, but has way too little of everything. It’s not a bad value game, cause it’s oh so very cheap, but I’d like way more content. This is just too good of a game to leave with 3 levels / 0.2 hours to complete the content. Also I’ve seen no issues with Linux which is nice (i3, multiple displays).

What I’d like to see:

  • more levels

  • more phrases, srsly, I’ve got the same phrase twice in a row in 12 mins and so many repeats.

  • more mechanics? Diffferent ships, different modes (like shmups often have slow mode), power-ups (maybe certain ships drop “bombs” and you have to activate bombs by typing a certain phrase, like in typing maniac?).

HyperCore : Rhythm Bullet Hell

HyperCore : Rhythm Bullet Hell

HyperCore is a “Rhythm bullet hell”, mixing the frenetic action of classic bullet hell shoot’em up with semi-procedurally generated encounters based on the music.

Survive by avoiding the countless obstacles sent towards them by the core in sync with the music.

  • Score attack: Earn more points by taking more risks! Hug obstacles to increase your score multiplier.

  • Time Attack: Get hit. Die. Repeat. Try to stay alive for as long as possible in this unforgiving game mode.

  • Custom Song: Play with your own songs!

  • Local 2 player versus: compete with a friend locally.

BULLET PARTY

BULLET PARTY

This is a seemingly straightforward schmup on the surface but it’s just as much a puzzle game. Levels fly at you thick & fast, and you sometimes have just seconds to destroy all the enemies onscreen. However the visuals, whilst retro, are clearly defined & even though you will perish (many times!) it never feels annoying as you get put back in again, forcing you to think quickly & remember what worked & what didn’t.

Kind of unique among the many twin stick shooters out there, and great value. Even the pulsing soundtrack is effective. Get it!

Real player with 10.5 hrs in game

BULLET PARTY is obviously a bullet hell game. A very hellish bullet game at that.

CONS

1. Gets very hard very easily, but this is to be expected. Bullet hell game after all. (Still annoying.)

2. No level editor. I feel like a level editor would REALLY make this game, especially if you could upload your levels and others could play theeem……………………

1. Very fun experience, with lots of levels.

2. Very fun with friends.

FINAL VERDICT

BULLET PARTY is a very fun game as you can tell. The game can be annoying at times, but it’s worth the money.

Typomancer in the Feather’s Way

Typomancer in the Feather’s Way

A very different proposal with a very frantic gameplay this is Typomancer. At first I thought that having to type in the middle of a game would make for a strange experience, but I was totally wrong. The fact of typing brought something quite innovative, where we can have frantic moments when it is necessary to type very fast or even moments when we can prepare for the worst by anticipating typing. I really liked the game’s proposal in combination with the effects. 10/10.

The game has a very nice experience, with a very well polishing done and with a very interesting cost-benefit.

Sniper Ships: Shoot’em Up on Rails

Very cool! A good mix of FPS with shoot up, with a very psychedelic look, is quite challenging. These neon lights look like 80s movies trying to imagine what the future looks like

Really cool shooter game, flashy LSD visuals, two shooting patterns, one frontal and one mouse driven, very hard, but very satisfying to play. Climb the leaderboards, fight harder and harder challenges. The Shooting Ships bundle is really filled with little delightful gems!

Guns and Grapples

Guns and Grapples

I absolutely love this game! It takes a while to master, but I enjoy playing it. 8 hours in and I’m only on world 5 because you can play this game in so many different ways! Great for completionists, speed runners, and casual gamers! I normally can’t play platformers for long before getting bored. But the challenge this game provides keeps me hooked! I highly recommend trying!

Raiden Legacy - Steam Edition

Raiden Legacy - Steam Edition

I rate Raiden Legacy 4/5. Good. Works well now.

EDIT: I’ve learned more about what these games were originally supposed to be like. Now I rate Raiden Legacy 3/5. OK. But it is still the only collection of these Raiden games available on Steam and when coupled with the frame rate fix linked below, Raiden Legacy has the potential to be a good game.

The overall negative rating of this game collection appears to no longer be justified. I encountered no issues involving stuttering. Indeed, I have encountered no major bugs of any kind.

Real player with 28.7 hrs in game

Well, when it comes to Arcade, Shoot’Em Up & Shooter genre, Raiden series is surely one of the well known games. And for this one, Raiden Legacy, is a good compilation of 4 in 1 collection. It has all the memorable classic games back in the old days, only with slightly changes of here and there. So, let’s check it out!

The Gameplay

Like any other Shoot’Em Up & Shooter games, the gameplay mechanic is simple and straightforward, shooting & bombing. It’s as they say, shoot on sight! There’s no complexity of button combinations to execute certain kill shots or need any rocket science brain to figure out how to play. It’s just that easy.

Hellbreaker

Hellbreaker

The dev posted a thread about this a few years ago and I picked it up. The movement is fast and fun, and the guns are very satisfying. I had a performance hiccup once in the outdoor level but it got fixed, and thanks to the limited visuals it runs at full blast with 100+ enemies on screen with no issues. Good art direction keeps the game looking nice despite those visuals and there’s good variety in how the levels look and play. Chasing gold medals is extremely fun and the game is very straightforward with the criteria for a gold rank, a big plus. If you like Doom, Quake, or UT this game is a great deal for a few afternoon’s worth of fun, I’m looking forward to what this developer does next.

Hellbreaker is a fun game, not sure why it didn’t got more attention…

Looks like it flew under everyone’s radar, haha where are those so called “influencers” when you need them ?

Non stop fast paced action, put your brain aside and kill everything type of game.

Nothing really good though, it could have been better if it was a bit more polished and balanced.

I’m getting some QUAKE II vibes with the levels artstyle and ennemies design.
